About 16 years ago at one of my lowest points in life, I walked into an Easter service alone and ended up getting seated in the front row as Tommy's worship band played. The music and service awakened something in me that I thought had been gone for a long time. I relentlessly began to pursue God and live for Jesus. My life has never been the same. I'm sure you hear stories like this all the time but I will never forget that moment. Thank you for your music and spreading God's message. I had no idea how much I needed it.
Right on Bob! The questions that can't be answered in this life. I lost my wife to cancer 8 years ago. I still utter and occasional, "Why God?", even knowing in the moment that there will be no answer. It's more of a heart cry than an actual question. But yes, we must focus on what we DO know; that Jesus loves us deeply, has called our names and called us to be his sons and daughters FOREVER. That his promises are YES and AMEN! That He is coming for us, and that the most amazing days are ahead - FOREVER AND EVER IN HIS PRESENCE! Thanks for this honest conversation, Tommy. PS: I haven't forgotten your music nor Bob's. I'm in my mid sixties. Let's make the most of the years we have left for God's glory.
Tommy & Bob - SCORE!!! so good. Bob your vulnerability and love for God and worship has been a massive gift to the body. At my small church we love singing 'Your Throne"! Guitar solo included!!! would love to hear Mark P on a walk with you Tommy. Thank you both.
Tommy is a consummate encourager. It makes me think back to a lunch with Tommy years ago at Ernie Jrs talking about his marriage to Robin, I came away very encouraged but also had my eyes opened to the depth and profound beauty of marriage. It was a turning point for me as a single person who was stuck in the Rut of idealizing marriage. His words still stick with me today.
Great convo, you guys! Appreciate the humour, the stories, and the heart(s) behind it! Thanks for doing this, Tommy, and thanks for having such a stellar guest! Love me some Bob-o-phonic!
Thank you for this. I just read the complete description - I appreciate you not trying to bring interviews of just famous folks, but rather individuals who have been important to you.
Yikes. Bro this got deep. Most of us might never really experience fame/money/statis in the way that you 2 have, but I think it's still a good point to keep in mind because many things are fleeting -- not just things like star fame and whatnot. It's important not to put your sights on fleeting things. Though that's going to be easier said than done, of course.
Wow. I appreciated every minute of it. This is a great human connection, which I believe we have a great need for. Mother Teresa called isolation the sickness, the poverty of the West. God's idea of success & human ideas are much different. All human lives have value, going through the journey of life is purposeful, in the eyes of God--- He has us here for a reason- including for the development of our own spirits. If we are doing God's will, led by the Spirit for our personal lives, that is success. I believe people need this kind of voice you are putting forth, that counters all the wrong ideas we have beat into us by culture. That is part of leading people in the Way of Jesus- pointing to the higher purpose of life, as you did in this video. This was great. Keep it up. (I love music so much, & I was trying to do art & music. God showed me, music is my Ishmael, art is my Isaac). Love wins. Yes, encourage each other.
About the talk on fleeting fame--- Sometimes we may feel people forgot about us... but they really didn't. What we give out from us can live with someone forever. I can recall things said/ done/ given to me 40 years ago, as just a one time encounter. When people die, they see life reviews, of the effects of all they have given... it is not gone as much as it may seem to us. This is a true effect on people, vs illusion of effect...
