    Dude you are a lifesaver!! My wife was stranded in California with a dead battery and your video helped her get the car jumped. Millions of thanks!!

    Subaru really should put a 15 minutes limit timer on all lights. Save everyone a dead battery. Most dead battery is from accidentally hitting the light button, and leaving them on. Or the trunk doesn't latch completely, and light is on. Put a simple 15 minutes limit switch in.

      I'd say most of Subaru's dead battery problems is because their original battery is a PoS. I know the stealerships want to blame the owners for using the car wrong, but trust me... a good battery makes a world of difference.

      @@Fun4GA That is exactly it. I've had 7 dead OEM batteries so far with my 2017 Outback. Of course the dealerships and Subaru of America will not admit to this. I suppose I should go ahead and spring for a real battery, but I'm going to continue to force Subaru to continually replace the batteries.

    You just saved my butt dude!! Left my inside light on (3rd time) and had to ask my boyfriend to jump my car again. This time I couldn't get my Forrester into neutral in order to push it out of the garage to be jumped. My boyfriend kept trying the same things to get it into neutral and I got irritated and went inside to find help on the computer. I typed my question into Google and hit search. It took me to your site and question answered!! I went outside to follow your instructions and my boyfriend was very skeptical. When it worked he had his tail between his legs and I coiuld tell he was at a loss for words. Thank you so much for letting me have a little dignity tonight. Awesome awewsome awesome!!!!!

    Saved my tail big time today thanks! I had to use a skinny tent stake :) On my 2012 Outback, since none of my screwdrivers fit right. With the stake, the shifter released easily.

    Thx ! My 2017 , 6 cylinder outback was dead this morning. We could not figure out how to get it in neutral to move it so we could jump it ! So frustrating. So now I know. ( but if the car is dead, then I can't even get to that little tool because everything on the car i power operated, can't open the cargo area - think I'll just put that tool in my glove compartment for easier access )

    Good video Brendon. A suggestion if you're alone and need to do this. Chock the wheels so the vehicle won't roll when you shift into neutral. Particularly if you're on a slope.

    So thanks for eventually showing us where the release. (Several minutes in) Two problems though. First, you direct people to use a tool in the cargo area and with a dead battery, you can’t unlock the liftgate to access the cargo bay. Second and perhaps more importantly, this is all a complete waste of time if you had engaged the electronic e-brake. Because once you go through all of this and put in neutral, you can’t release the brake to move the car anyway. Thanks for getting my hopes up. Would have saved many of a bunch of time if you issued that warning first.

    Okay so what about the automatic parking brake? How do you take that off? I just had to tow a Forester and use the shift override slot but it still have the parking brake on and I had to use skates

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 Год назад

      For people that like traditional parking brakes personally I was Subaru would use the foot pedal. That is fine the handbrake to be very close to the seat. Currently I drive a car that has a handbrake that's actually lower than the seat through the way it's designed.

    Clue number 264 that you should have bought a different car: You need a youtube video explaining how to put it in neutral when the battery is dead. :{
