Mary Poppins for me as a child (and many others) was bigger than a simple movie, it was christmas and happiness, imagination and sadness (feed the birds), all together. What Disney did was incredible, and Ms. Andrews will always be the nanny of our dreams.
@@paulbrook3769And she performed Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella live to the largest national television audience ever at 107 million viewers! Not a bad start in television either!
It's always wonderful to see Julie Andrews, but it was a fabulous surprise to see Ian McKellen there sitting next to her in the second interview, and reacting to her story. I'd love to see them movie in a play or movie together (assuming they haven't worked together yet).
Sue Lawley _could_ have asked Julie Andrews if she might have preferred, in some alternative turn of events, being offered the role of Eliza Doolittle in the film version of _My Fair Lady._ That might have elicited a more interesting response.
The interviewer was not that great. I’ve heard it said that the only reason she didn’t do my fair lady was because she was busy at the time with other projects.
These British interviewers were often so negative. Andrews was a lyric coloratura soprano and a Libra. I mean what did they expect of her ? A gypsy witch? It was her type the soubrettes and romantic ingenue characters etc.
Not a Disney Princess. She is the Queen of Disney.
Correct✨
Agree!
Agreed. She had tea with Walt Disney himself in full character costume. If that doesn't earn her the crown, nothing will.
Iconic character. Julie is a gem!
One hears she swears like a sailor. Still, no one can ever take away my adoration of ‘Mary Poppins.’
She’s a theatre brat. No surprise that she swears like a sailor.

Her first two films, Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, must be the most successful one, two in cinema.
The Sound of Music was her third film, she made The Americanization of Emily with James Garner,in between.😊

Yes. Agreed one hundred percent. Those were my favorite movies and I saw them when they first came out.
Julie is all about Disney values, kindness, love of children, enormous talent, hard work, and a bit of magic
She’s so stunning! I’m glad I grew up with her films, they brought us so much happiness. ❤
I would say she’s awesome in anything she has done she’s got an amazing voice and personality that she brings to what ever role she’s taken on .
Her voice was destroyed but still has a beautiful timbre I think!
Icon , Iconic movie
She's so lovely,and sweet.
That first interviewer was horrible, trying to get out a reaction out of her. Disgusting
Well I thought it maybe understandable for her job. But Julie Andrews is actually very amazing for her sincere response😢✨.
Julie's birthday is coming up 🎉 Happy birthday!🎉
I never knew Sue Lawley was so well spoken back in the day.
That first interviewer tried so hard to get Ms. Andrews to say she's angry.
Yeah! I noticed that! The interviewer was so negative.
The first interview is a terribly bad interview style - only something we can see in retrospect.
Now, The Sound Of Music is a Disney film.
Love Mary Poppins! Julie is so amazing! What an icon! 💖
Julie Andrews, Icon
She made a very good Mary Poppins! Very close to the books!❤
She’s amazing! 😊
Childhood memories ❤
I had Mary Poppins within my talent to draw pictures by pencil.
Wow! Chill out lady!! It's Julie Andrews!!!

Julie Andrews was topless in the movie S.O.B. ......... or as I like to call it, Poppins 2.
I thought she died. Right scare this gave me
@bbc Tamarind Seed, not ‘Tamarin Seed’ as graphics state
Lady Dame Julie Andrews
It's a very special movie .....
Julie Andrews is the OG, while Yondu and Dogpool are Mary Poppin of MCU Y'All.
I can’t understand what you’re saying when it’s all abbreviated
Very prim and proper
what's with the first interviewer trying to get a rise
Yes. It was bad.
👍🏼

Interviewer was rude, in fact!
What stupid questions she was asked
Yes! I’m glad she was sharp enough to answer positive answers.
This interviewer seems bent on disparaging the Mary Poppins image!
Okay
not good enough.
