    Harold Arlen & Ted Koehler wrote the tune for Earl Carroll's Vanities (1932). The boys did it proud.

    “I got a right to sing the blues” - great song. Also done by Sinatra who - in spite of being awesome - did not have an ounce of blues in his bones.
    The real thing is the “Cootie and Rex” version with arrangements and sweeping modulations by arranger Ernie Wilkins. Possibly the best jazz record of all time.
    (There are a few of those)
