    I stopped doing wood working four 4 years do to the fact the I lost my father and almost my mother and my self. Now I have put all that behind me and I just got back on doing woodworking again. I saw many woodworking RUclips channels and I got to say I love your channel. It inspires me a lot thank you. I just subscribed to your channel 3 weeks ago. You got a new follower. I would like to see a coffee table/drink table with bottle holders that can match the planter and chair that you built 3 weeks ago. God bless you.

      I hope you can get back to doing what you love soon. I also stopped when someone close to me passed. He was my uncle and like a father to me. He taught me everything. Not many other uncles would let a 10 year old girl run a band saw, but he did! He was a master cabinet maker and left me his shop. Finally getting back to it after cleaning and organizing it. I will say that it does feel good to be in his space using his tools. It makes me feel closer to him.

    Yay. Dowelmax. One of the best purchases I have made.
    It's expensive - but you absolutely get what you pay for. The inventor, Jim, is a really good guy. It will take projects to the next level and do so quickly.

      I’m about to build out a night stand and I LOVE the iron ore color you picked out. I was thinking of something really dark and that charcoal-like color is perfect with that stain.

    Hey Glen, it's so good to see that you're back at it!!!
    For this series you know that you're going to have to complete the entire outdoor set, right? LOL
    Maybe a two toned wood lounge chair? Maybe a patio table? Maybe a matching chair to compliment the first chair and the planter? I mean, sky's the limit really......

  • @emm_arr
    @emm_arr 3 месяца назад +6

    A dry-fit tip i saw recently was get some dowels and sand them to smaller than the Dowelmax holes - the dye them a color so they stand out. Use these for dry fits so they come apart easily and the color means you can just store them for dry-fit test runs.

    Over the last two summers we have been building garden boxes and furniture for the yard. Two summers ago I built a fence with horizontal boards that are the dame two tone finish that you have used here. The black and light would stain are an awesome look. I showed my wife the chair and she has asked me to build a wider version, wide enough for two adults. Now this planter box is going to added to the list of builds. Thank you for the video, I had an idea on what I wanted and now I have a better idea of how to get it. I also forsee a table of some sorts being added to my wife's honey do list. Any ideas?

    I laughed at the annunciation of "HOLES" 🙂 Great video and great project. One thing I noticed is that you referenced the dowel placements from opposite edges. If the board wasn't of the exact same width, that could be an issue. It's probably being TOO careful, but it might be a bit safer to reference your dowel jig placement from one side of the board, flush, and then maybe with a spacer stick or something for the opposite side. Obviously, it didn't cause a big problem for you, but it might be a good practice in the future. Good Luck!

    • @DIYCreators
      @DIYCreators  3 месяца назад +1

      😅 it could sound like something I didn't intend. I did reference the placement of the dowels. The jig I use is a bit complicated when you first lay eyes on it, but it is very versatile. And when you're joining different boards, I do recommend using test pieces to make sure it lines up the way you expect. It can play a little mind game on you trying to determine placements. The way I had my jig adjusted, it favored one side, not the center. This meant I had to keep track of ordination before drilling. On the fly, I couldn't think of a way to make this simpler. That's why I decided to take my time.
