If you're looking for a proper demonstration on how to use this item, this video is not the right (haha) place to look. I found this a long time ago. The person who made this model in 3D modeling software specifically implied that this was for the LEFT hand. He initially modeled it for his disabled friend. This way, his thumb would be on the left analog stick and his left hand's fingers would be in the right position for every button on the right Joy Con. He then outsourced his files, and created a right handed controller, which is both Joy Cons placed in a mold with extended thin levers to reach the left shoulder buttons.
Yeah something tells me they didn't do proper research on this thing. Which is kind of a bummer because I would have liked for them to showcase both the mods for the right and left hand. That way they could understand why it was designed the way it was and could have explored the topic of gamers with disabilities using mods to play games, which is a topic that is rarely talked about in the more well known channels.
MrZero405 I think it may be a possibility that he purchased this from somewhere, and the seller didn't have "left-handed" in the title or description of the controller adapter. Just "one-handed."
Thank you for this comment, I was just going to say the same thing after watching this video. The video downplays the layout as pointless when there are people out there who benefits from it.

That would be way too difficult, this accessory is horrible, makes it too difficult and I thought regular controller with motion controls was hard, well this accessory is stupid it isn't even worth 4$
As a 1 handed gamer, it has always saddened me that nintendo has this thing for weird controllers that immediately excludes disabled gamers from their consoles. Xbox and ps controllers historically have been fairly easy to use 1 handed, at least for the most part, not to the level of someone with 2 hands but certainly enough to finish most games especially on the lower difficulties and xbox and ps controllers are fairly easy (for people with the know how) to modify to be true 1 handed controls, nintendo...not so much, which is sad as nintendo games are my favourite games.
Nintendo isn't great at accessibility. SEGA did it the best (in the 90s) with the Genesis and the Earphone Jack. I have hearing issues and Bluetooth hearing aids and my trick was to connect up my Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter to my Genesis. For SNES all the way up to Switch cable splitting and adapters is necessary for me. PS3 had a dual out mode in the audio settings so I could have HDMI audio for others and also use the phono cables for my adapter set. PS1/PS2, same cable as PS3, just plug the CVBS cable to the TV set and the audio goes to Bluetooth adapter. I don't own a PS4 or any Xboxes, so I can't tell you how to do that. Also, all of this is recent, I'm actually only 23 and I got into retro collecting because new games aren't that good :)
This should work relatively well for Splatoon. The only buttons you use on the right joycon are B, stick click and both shoulder buttons anyway (plus occasionally X), and stick is redundant with motion controls.
Kevin thank you so much for reviewing this. Late to the game! But my brother had a severe stroke this year and gaming was one of his greatest loves. I'm going to get him this for Christmas. I'm so excited to see his happiness again from this 🥹💕
I bought this for my brother. He absolutely loves it. He is having fun with Mario odyssey and Zelda. This small piece of plastic brought happiness to my little bro.
Happened to me too, it wasn't that bad in the beginning, but then i let my brother play and it got fucked. Something that helped a bit was cleaning the joy con, but it didn't help me that much. So i just bought a new controller and gave the fucked up one to my brother, he won't mind. But if i was you guys i would try cleaning the stick.
I never disagreed with that statement. But octopath traveler isn't triple A. Also "Most if not all AAA games on the switch are AAA", this sentence doesn't make any sense.
I could be wrong, but this accessory seems to me like it was made specifically for gamers who only have one hand. The very first thing it made me think of was the Xbox adaptive controller (like you mentioned at the end). So while it might not be a great product for everyone, it could be an amazing solution for disabled gamers!
Interesting concept, but we've seen 1-handed controllers before. Aren't the target audience for those with disabilities? Basically, people who may have lived all their lives learning to do things with 1 hand, so while it may be awkward for Kevin to hold the controller, it may not for someone with 1 hand. Also, maybe having your hand up like that might be an issue too? I was thinking maybe putting it down on the desk, arm of a chair, or even your knee. Such a way that you could kind of... claw grip it, like a mouse. Obviously not finger placement like a mouse, but the general palm on the back of it, then put fingers on the buttons/joystick as needed.
When I play warframe I use a mouse in one hand and half an xbox 360 controller in the other. Unfortunately i occasionally need to use more than just the buttons on the left side of the gamepad, requiring me to reach to the other side awkwardly, and I've been on the hunt for a gamepad that puts more of the buttons all on one side that i can hold in my left hand, and it's a depressingly sparse market.
My husband and I recently got a switch then our friend purchased for us. I have cerebral palsy and I am in a wheelchair. I am glad that I looked up some articles and this video. I looks like it's somewhat designed for one handed play. This could be a boon for accessibility. Instead, use the stick you had issues with.... against your leg. if Nintendo makes an official one, they could make the switch read the analog inputs or button inputs flipped depending on which controller in in the back. so if u have the right jc in the front, the left stick and d pad would be reversed, and vice versa if the left joy con is in the front. and of course make it a little more ergonomically correct.
