Let me know if you guys want to see guides like this for the rest of S3 Guilty Gear by like and subbing to the video. My goal is to continually get better at guide making, so any feedback is appreciated as well
Super sick character breakdown. As an intermediate player it's hard to find a character breakdown that's not just "how to play strive". I really appreciate the fast, thorough breakdown of the characters strengths. Keep it up. ❤
Maining Johnny after a long hiatus and being unable to play Zato effectively anymore. Love how he plays and feels compared to previous GG games. I'm impressed. Winning a majority of matches and I'm still rusty on Strive mechanics and struggle to learn many combos. This is a great briefer on stuff I already should have known.
Gotta say this is a really good guide (i love the trasition with the cards for the different chapters) Just a couple of things I found out when watching Gobou playing Johnny: - K Deal can be used on oki with 6H to push the opponent into the corner. Simply do K deal after a HKD and then do 6H Dash K Mist Finer and still get the guard crash, only now you are much closer to the corner. - When you RC Ensenga or Deal after Vault on block for a mix-up you can do a fast RC into jP wich is very difficult to react to and you can do get a full combo from it by either doing a P or S Mist Finer (it's basically a double overhead or a overhead into low that's super fast and difficult to see) or you can hold either of the Mist Finers and either go for a throw or low, it's super good.
6K is really nice because you can condition people with empty dashes to think you're going for oki/setups just to kick them in the face and start a combo. JUST picked Johnny up and he's definitely one of my new favs.
Love the editing, it's always nice to have visual examples for what you're explaining and makes it easier to digest than just talking on training mode for minutes. This guides are getting better and better, keep it up 🗿💖
there's a meterless side switch combo c.S > 2H > 236HH (fastest possible timing) > 2K > 214S > 214K edit: after the 2K you can instead go for 6K > 214S for a safejump with iad j.H 6K > 214K for corner carry
This is great thank you sir 🙏! Love the new animated combo notations. Helps a lot with timing, timing windows, and explains delay more objectively. Thinking of maining Johnny. Very happy to see the GG content personally, but I honestly hope you continue to make content based on what you're most interested in. I'd imagine that's where a lot of the authenticity in your vids comes from. Definitely saving this video on my Strive playlist though
this kind of content is so refreshing when most other "content" creators just repost their stream highlights. good editing and useful information. would love to see more shorter videos in the vein of the drive rush jab video.
Excellent guide!! If you’re interested in doing a Bridget S3 guide, that would be awesome! But if it’s not really aligned with growing the channel, then no worries! Do whatever you think is best for you! 😊
Amazing editing as always, Caste! It takes a lot of time to individually clip each of the examples but going that extra mile makes a big difference between Diaphone's guide videos and other people who do a long 60 minute one-take and upload the entire thing. It's both a lot more concise and also easier to understand when you can see the examples on screen while Diaphone is speaking. On top of that, the transitions and other effects are so cool and keep the video fun and entertaining.
As always, clean guide, your editing gets better and better ❤ About frametraps, it's good to know that 2H and 6H naturally frametrap after c.S (although I haven't tested it out against 3 frame normals), and 6k after 5k, paired with Mist Finer cancels it makes his pressure real scary and quite easy to apply!
For the people who like safejumps, easy ass combo is c.S 2H 214P 6K 214S into IAD j.H if you want to smoke the Leos who wakeup DP every single time 😊 because Leo reversal can sometimes reach you during card Oki where most other reversals will completely whiff.
i do want to add that doing c.s into 2h on block IS throwable.. so if ur opponent notices thats ur favorite blockstring then u might be eating a throw ofc u can delay 2h to beat that but then u could get dp'd or smth.. u get the idea lol
i think the fun of it is always having a blade to forge, like learning a new character, but always being able to sharpen it afterwards like mastering their mixups and such
your doing the vault card way late in the second combo, you can do it just after the apex of the arc of the opponent and its very forgiving, the only hard part of vault is getting card hkd wich is highly specific
I saw you call back D “(something) shield”, what exactly does that do? Is that new from season 3 like wild assault or have I missed that this whole time?
Deciding between him and Baiken rn and ngl im about to drop both because my TK inputs are maybe 50/50 consistency and from my understanding of my frame tracker they are being input the same exact way, timing, etc. if I go for an overhead mist finer, i have a solid chance it just goes for the low, and a slim but TERRIBLY BAD chance that i do a j.s and throw the game away. im on hitbox and at this point im starting to just feel pain in my fingers trying this input so many times.
It just doesn't work for some chars, not sure why, I've been trying it against those two but it never reaches, works fine on Ky and Sol @@danielmurphy3580
does 5s 5h k mist finder still works i've been trying it out it doesn't seem to work when you need to dash with mist finder it only works for me when im close to the opponent
I gave Jhonny a fair test but he feels too stiff to me. I thought it was closer to my style but nope. I found very difficult getting in, it’s too reactive.
great vid! I have one slightly random question, but how do you connect H > HS into forward mist finer? I've been trying and can never get the MF to combo into the HS
I love the character, but I just hate fighting players that just spam MISTOFAYAH for the whole duration of the match, it just feels like fighting noobs that came from street fighter 6 and that were frustrated that the luke/ken drive impact/ex spam strategy didn't worked, so they just tried it on another game and hope it works or something.
Well johnny is a zoner, and zoners are keep away characters so they're playing the character how they're supposed to be played if ur having a hard time getting to the player.
@@LecorbakOfficial exactly!!! Thats the whole point lol. If he keeps spamming mist finer and u cant get in thats how the character is supposed to be played If johnny is close enough to you and he uses mist finer u can punish him with an attack. And if they keep hitting you with mist finer then ur not blocking enough. If you're on offense do u give the opponent a chance to attack you? Then why should they give u a chance to attack them?

An updated version for our boi Sin would be nice, btw your guides getting better and better!
Updated Baiken guide or riot!
Whoever is doing your editing is killing it
Watching your guides makes me feel my brain actively grow, more please!

Always appreciate how much work you put into these. Helps learn the character for use and counterplay

Hands down one of the best guides i've seen for a fighting game. The editing and examples throughout the video are well done. Thank you very much
Johnny straight up got me into this game I’m loving it
Diaphone has the best character guides on the Internet for real. I wish there was one for every character. DIAGOAT!

I have been waiting on this!
I haven’t had this much fun with a character in a long time!
Another great guide! Johnny is sooooo sick.
Was looking forward to the johnny 101!! Knew you had us covered basedphone.
Diaphone always with the best guides hands down. Thanks again! :)
The alternative tk input really did the trick for me, thanks Dia 🔥

Excellent guide for strategy and paced addition of skills. And the production is a cut above!
Thanks so much man. Been grinding and learning Johnny and doing this plus Street Fighter has been keeping me in a fun vibe :)
i don’t even play strive but these videos are just interesting to watch

very clean guide. im still trying to get used to using wild assault with my characters (nago/faust/bed)
i hope i-no gets a new guide to go with her new move and combo routes from it

K Deal card falls faster when it hits the wall so it might be better oki in the corner

In the corner i do Sdeal and the card goes off screen, and then i do Pmist finer and it still hits even though its off screen.
