One thing I respect the most about Austin Reaves is shown in what he said: "I am not blessed enough to freestyle it." - He plays in the NBA; is one of the most talented basketball players on the planet. Yet, he says he has to dedicate himself to learning plays, playing in the system etc.. It is admirable given that others see themselves as so blessed with talent, that they refuse to run plays, play in a system and just to their thing every game.
The truth is that there are guys who can get by on just inherent talent & athleticism, and Reeves knows that. Young MJ was exactly like that; while 1990s MJ was more measured, disciplined, and moved while off-ball to shift defenses away from the real play.
its why it blows many minds when such capable players don't just buy in to systems, i get egos and trying to be "the guy", they are good enough to do so much. and every team that wins a champ, no complaints from the other guys who contributed
@@kodakmoment3541 I read somewhere the Pistons wanted to draft him but he declined , I didn't even know you could do that . Or maybe the Pistons just drafted someone else when he said he wasn't interested .
Love his game. Plays the right way. At first I was thinking flash in the pan but nope. He's the real deal. His name is coming in trades and I REALLY hope he stays where he is.
I love his story to being a starter and being one of the best and reliable players on our roster. He’s always competing which I respect tf out of. Can’t wait to see him grow and become more elite. He’s a dawg for sure.
This is my favorite quality of lebron’s. That man’s basketball IQ is so high he understands the development of those around him and his ability to trust his teammates is honestly kind of inspiring. He makes the good basketball decision regardless of who he is passing to and trusts them but even if they don’t make it he doesn’t lose faith in them or disrespect them, he is the first one to help them up and tell them to shake it off
I fawks with Austin Reeves hard! This was one of my favorite videos. He reminds me of some of my Kentucky friends. Nice normal looking guy thatll eat your heart in competition! Love this
He’s one of the few that really wants it. No designer clothes, doesn’t big note himself, just plays hard and works harder. Not really a shock why he’s finding success.
Somewhat. I feel like AD is more the heart. LeBron is obviously the leader and always shows up but when AD is playing even remotely decent they aren’t loosing.
Here's the thing nobody gives this kid credit for: he's having all this success while at the same time having to deal with a best friend who cuts school and makes him--without permission --borrow his dad's beloved, diaper-rubbed, vintage Ferrari to drive it all around Chicago.
I think the biggest difference between regular seaosn/playoffs listening to players talk is just the preperation, and using that preparation in game. Regular season you get little cheat sheets of tendacies and stuff like that. But its such a long regular season its just mentally draining to be so focused on the mental aspect of it.
“I can’t make him look stupid” I feel like every player that has played with Bron that hasn’t already made some sort of name for themselves else where thinks like that with him. It ultimately leads to them becoming too nervous and missing wide open shots. I wish those dudes would just trust themselves
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Bron isn’t just any team leader. It’s not like it makes Reaves play worse either for this particular example.
@@beckmanchilds756 Lebron isn't any team leader based on what? He's the telling guys what to do both offensively and defensively, and getting them to buy into a system to compete. Just listen to what JR Smith had to say. Being passive aggressive in interviews and trade rumors doesn't negate that
The first time I seen AR play in summer league.. I told everybody around me that’s he’s gonna make the lakers team and the reason why.. is whenever I see somebody with the same or similar basketball moves on the court… as me ..let’s me know how much work they pouring into the game…to pull those moves off in game.. tells me their mind set .. AR is really fearless.. like kyrie and Luka they all have Outstanding footwear with that ball in their hands
Gotta admit this man’s offensive game isn’t bad at all!! He hits huge 3s all the time and he can drive in for and one’s. Just needs to work on his defense and dribbling. I’m a Celtics fan so I naturally hate any Laker players lol. You gotta respect AR though, dude came out of no where and balling in a city where a lot of people fold under the lights.
He’s confident as hell. His bag of skills is never fully on display tho. He’s settling for his role and driving and hitting contested shots often still, but his true offensive bag is quite extensive. If you look at his hs/college highlights he’s been doing the same exact things. People do it all the time, comparing players to their previous college or even hs days but that never translates. The most difficult shots he has put up in the past he’s basically done as a laker. He’s just not needed to score so much (which I don’t think he could do full volume). It’s also very impressive how he basically has to cook with a microwave being on a team with Lebron and AD who average like 50+ points every game. The other thing is that AR’s handling is the part of the game that translated to the nba best. Most guards Can’t translate like that unless they’re a lottery pick. Lakers rely on Reaves to handle the rock After Lebron. Which is nuts. He’s a special solid player for the lakers. Signing him for another 4 years for less than 60 mil was a great move Edit: I forgot to mention he has plays great defense. His anticipation is great. Sneaky good and he’s got length.
The LA Lakers have a good chemistry with Austin Reaves, Anthony Davis and Lebron James on the court as far as I think. You can see Austin Reaves acknowledges the greatness of Lebron James and he wants to learn from him which is a very good thing as far as I think.
Austin needs to be starting, if he hasnt earned it idk what else you would want him to do. Hes a great teammate, smart and efficient. Ar15 should be the defacto 3rd option for LA.
You know as much as people can't stand Skip Bayless he was one of the only few toting this kid's name before he became a relevant name. Reaves has been awesome.
