I've read a lot of good reviews, but I also read negative reviews about the CVT transmissions. I wonder if Nissan already fixed the problem. I'm thinking of buying the 2019 Maxima.

I was thrilled to find out @NissanUSA kept the Maxima in its lineup for the then next-generation current Nissan Maxima in its lineup after attempting to discontinue the nameplate and model.
Those 19 inch tires will be very costly to replace. I don't like that fact that most of these car makers are putting in 18-19 inch tires on a mid-sized cars. Consumers should be warned about the tires.
Very true, smasila. The larger wheel/tire combinations are more expensive to own and replace, but that's part of what makes these vehicles look so nice and perform the way that they do. They still make versions of these vehicles with more pedestrian tires setups (although on the Maxima they are are still 18-in.), but they aren't nearly as nice, nor do they perform the same. Thank you for your support, gghostrrider. Since we don't conduct instrumented testing, we use reputable sources and share that info on certain vehicles with you. 2015 was the most recent time that this particular car was tested by Motor Trend and you are correct in assuming that specifications such as 0-60 have not changed since then. The only time you'll see changes happen in those areas is when there has been a major update (powertrain or design) or when it is an all-new vehicle. This is why Motor Trend hasn't tested it since because the basics of the car are still the same. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I have a 2016 SR and like it enough but I'm a truck guy. I keep it in sport mode when I drive as it keeps the steering and throttle response sharp. Lots of features but I really hate the Bose audio system. No highs and no lows, must be Bose. My 17 Ram sport has the alpine system and blows the 1 in the Maxima away. Great car for my wife and it keeps her out of my truck.
Torsional rigidity is how much the body bends, twists or flexes. Too much of it can make it difficult for engineers to tune the suspension, thus negatively affecting the handling. Hope this helps, Teri Stanton, and thanks for watching!
Does it come in manual? I've owned many car and a 2003 maxima 6 speed was one of my favorite vehicles. Very smooth car all around. Haven't liked them since (looks).
Would you guys pick this over the Dodge Charger r\t? Autoacademics is welcome to give his opinion as well lol. Buying a car next month, stuck between the two
Yes, I would but this over the Charger. V6 with 300HP and great gas milage vs V8 with 370 HP and 16 MPG. If you are going to get a V8 get something with some real power 450HP or better. To me the Charger is just way too big. I like something fast low and agile. Which the Maxima SR is. It is more expensive but it will last longer and maintain a higher resale value than an American made car.
Again, you're on to something, therealme812. Unfortunately, Nissan owns the company that makes the CVTs so a DCT will probably never happen. Here's hoping for all-wheel drive though.
I have driven the Chevy Impala V6 2017 and 2018 as I rent it for work a lot. love the car!!! Have never driven the Maxima. Owned at 2004 and loved it. I’m torn between buying either vehicle. I need to drive the new Maxima.
Still trying to decide between the Midnight or the Premium. I like all the comfort (bells and whistles and sunroof ) but I also like the 19" gloss black wheels. Any advise on which way I should lean?
Awesome review like always. How do you think this compares to the the Infiniti Q50 3.0t AWD (300hp variant). I think this car looks awesome sadly it isn't RWD, can it be purchased with AWD ?
3232e's Bricks Maxima's are FWD only. AWD would be nice, especially with the unpredictable winter weather on the east coast. I've had a '16 Maxima for a little over a year now and I love it.
Thanks for the info. A 300hp all wheel drive maxima would be an absolute beast, it would totally sweeten the deal and might actually have a chance to be the 4dsc Nissan claims it to be
3232e's Bricks I would definitely go for the Infiniti. I dont see how you can compare the two. Rear wheel drive is a whole different dynamic and ride feel. AWD vs FWD. AUTO Trans vs CVT. Chassis & Suspensions design ..so many ways the Q50 is superior. Drive them back to back and you"ll see.
Word Life true but the Infiniti Q50 3.0t Premium AWD is USD $3000 more expensive compared to the car shown in this video. Remember the Infiniti is also smaller. On the other hand the Infiniti's interior is far superior (my opinion) and has AWD. At the end of the day it's the your priorities that would truly matter. I would personally go for the Infiniti
Believe it or not, since those wheels are painted you can put a light coat of wax on the wheels, Samuel Hernandez, to help protect them, but wiping them off with a towel and clean water whenever you see brake dust or the shine starting to go away would be plenty enough. No soap necessary. How often depends upon how much you drive the car, but a weekly wipe down would keep the wheels showroom fresh for many years. Just be sure to use a different rag than the one you use to wash the car and clean the wheels and exhaust tips last. Hope this helps!
Hi, Freddie Slaughter. As Chris stared in our review, the Black Edition adds the wheels, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler found on our tester. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I am sure you wouldn't be upset. If you want more of a sporty feel, check out the nissan 370z (i have a infiniti G37 which is essentially the 370z with luxury). The altima and maxima are not bad choices at all.
We can't say for sure, Julito Maraña. The cars get sent to us new for review then we have to give them back. But a few Google searches might help you gather more information about reliability. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I have the 2017 platinum in superblack with the medallion package changed the spoiler to the sr sport spoiler . This car is a great car next for me is the 2018 velar range rover also in black.
@@runupthebag5564 Yeah I already have and its not too bad just hate that CVT sound and for that kind of money a Q50S Red Sport can be parked in my driveway.
Why does this car look nicer than the new Infiniti q70? I don't get why their mainstream brand is nicer than most of their luxury brand. I'm not really big on Nissan because of this stuff. I'll stick with Kia and BMW. This car looks nice though.
If this had a sunroof id get it i know they have their excuse that it would throw off the suspension or something so i'll go with the SL and try and get those black wheels on it probably but love the maxima especially blacked out i have a 2011 all blacked

I have driven the Chevy Impala V6 2017 and 2018 as I rent it for work a lot. love the car!!! Have never driven the Maxima. Owned at 2004 and loved it. I’m torn between buying either vehicle. I need to drive the new Maxima.
Justin, you won't be sorry if you drive the Maxima. It drives like a dream and is very comfortable.
Still trying to decide between the Midnight or the Premium. I like all the comfort (bells and whistles and sunroof ) but I also like the 19" gloss black wheels. Any advise on which way I should lean?
Don’t decide yet, thinking about it before buying one
Really good review, I already bought my 2017 SR if I watched this video before, I would have bought sooner
Chassis & Suspensions design
..so many ways the Q50 is superior.
Sorry but here in Canada ur not getting the infinity q50 3.0 under 50k and u can purchase the maxima sr for 35 k
Love this car my wife has the midnight edition.. Just like he said sport and luxury combined!
We appreciate your comments, Reggie Brown. Thanks for watching!
Song, please?
Man anyone knows how to maintain the black gloss wheels to keep them factory shining ? What do you use to clean them and how often ?
Believe it or not, since those wheels are painted you can put a light coat of wax on the wheels, Samuel Hernandez, to help protect them, but wiping them off with a towel and clean water whenever you see brake dust or the shine starting to go away would be plenty enough. No soap necessary. How often depends upon how much you drive the car, but a weekly wipe down would keep the wheels showroom fresh for many years. Just be sure to use a different rag than the one you use to wash the car and clean the wheels and exhaust tips last. Hope this helps!
AutoAcademics thanks a lot will follow those instructions. 👍🏼
No problem. Thanks for watching!
Just bought one yesterday. $22.k 71k miles.
What extra do you get with the Midnight Edition?
Hi, Freddie Slaughter. As Chris stared in our review, the Black Edition adds the wheels, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler found on our tester. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
i'm currently in need of a car upgrade and if it is anything like my mom's 2013 sentra, then i'll be sure to get a nissan
I am sure you wouldn't be upset. If you want more of a sporty feel, check out the nissan 370z (i have a infiniti G37 which is essentially the 370z with luxury). The altima and maxima are not bad choices at all.
Not with a CVT is it a 4DSC
Nate K name another 4 door sports car?
looks like a nice roomy comfy ride. not quite aggressive enough for me but its a nice ride none the less...
Good review man! Thank you!
We appreciate the kind words, Code4Gamer. Thanks for watching!
Just got mine and I love it!!
Congrats on your new car, Meria. Thanks for watching!
Camera angles cool but the shaking is annoying! Good review!
I lost interest in Maximas once they got rid of the manual transmission option... I love my 2002 3.5 with 6 speed...
This Is Going Be My First Car Too Go Too Work Just Let Me Work Hard ! ! !
Very underrated car 💯
I enjoyed your video review.
Thanks, as always, Thomas E. Tisdale Jr. We appreciate your support!
from best to worst Toyota,Nissan or Honda?
Depends on what you want?
Reliability: Toyota>Honda>Nissan
Cool: Nissan>Honda>Toyota
Toyota is trash bmw,Honda/Acura are better cars
Is this car reliable??
We can't say for sure, Julito Maraña. The cars get sent to us new for review then we have to give them back. But a few Google searches might help you gather more information about reliability. Good luck and thanks for watching!
good job....i own a SR model.
how’s the ride quality?
I’m in Love I’m getting this
I have the 2017 platinum in superblack with the medallion package changed the spoiler to the sr sport spoiler . This car is a great car next for me is the 2018 velar range rover also in black.
I'm from mid 80's and early 90's era of Maximas I'm not putting no black rims on my Maxima gun metal metallic alloy or Chrome...
🤣We hear ya, Tariq Goodman. Thanks for watching!
great review
Thanks for watching, cooper roberts!
I bought 2017 Black Maxima SR midnight edition berore 5 months ago for $21.000 only . BTW im from Kurdistan
Nice. Thanks for watching, Golden Tekken!
The Nissan Maxima SR is not a true sport sedan, but it is a Sporty sedan.
With the recent news, thought I'd revist this vid.
Nice video... Where is this place please?
We're based out of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Z AIQARNI. Thanks for watching!
AutoAcademics subscribe and like really nice video and thank you for answer me
We appreciate you, Z AIQARNI. Thanks, again!
4DSC right! Make it rear wheel drive and than we can talk about 4DSC
You should drive one boss man takes down alot of rear wheel drive vehicle's its a beast
RockSteady67 I took the black wheels off as soon as I bought it and put chrome on. I'm selling the black ones if your interested. They have 45 miles on them.
Do you still have those to rims?
DeMarques Wilkins yes I still have them safe in a box in my garage.
chrisamhers how much and where r u located?
DeMarques Wilkins I have them on facebook for $250 a piece or $1000 for the set. The cheapest I found them for were $299 a piece so I'm about 200 cheaper than the lowest price I found. I'm near Toledo Ohio.
Good Review Sir! I bought one!
Thank you, B Samurai. And congrats on your car!
Price a little steep but accessories are awesome.
Very well done review
Make it rear drive , throw away the cvt put a 8 speed auto in it . An I'm buying one asap
We just bought the platinum, best trans I've ever had, you will love the cvt.
Great video
That bs about no Sun Roof is not true, they have the Infinity Q50S with a Sun Roof.
I love the music. Sweet video as always.
I feel like it's a bit too costy though, as pretty as she is though.
And let's be honest, CVT?
Ugh.
Mihaly Lukacs so you can't afford it
love nissan but to me they are going to be the next mitsubishi....
