I have a 2012 Nissan Altima S with 140K miles on it now and i definitely want to get the 2018 Maxima SV soon. Saving up for a big down payment first though
It's a real sleeper of a vehicle. The older models do wallow a bit into corners and that takes a bit of getting used to if you have a AWD to compare it with. They are very fast in a straight line and a lot of car for the money. A lot of luxury kind of appointments inside, and quite a few of the gadgets. If you drive it gently you'll even get decent fuel economy!
The great thing about the Maxima is your get the same engine/trans in all trim levels. So the base $32k Maxima S really has no competition as far as family sports sedan at that price. That's where the Maxima is the most attractive... For the same price as a mid to upper level Accord, Camry, Fusion, or Mazda 6 you can score a Maxima S that is on another performance and quality level than those cars. The Charger SXT is on par with performance, but quality and looks wise? I'd take a Maxima all day long.
The 2012 sport package and limited edition sounds good as hell when accelerating on the road.... (sounds like GT-R) and even if you step on a gas a tiny bit,.... loud!
I have driven a 93 maxima,a 98 maxima, a2000 maxima,a 2002 maxima, and a 2004 maxima. Yes I love the maxima, and this 8 generation is on my list to own. Gone but not forgotten.
8th gen is incredible, idk how they packed so much into this car with a decent price tag(at least for a ‘17-‘20). i love how unassuming it is until i pull off on 5.0s and beamers lol
Dope car, Nissan outperforms and it shows. I drive a Q50 3.7 (obviously different league of car) and I've raced a few Maxima Platinums with some mods and they're pretty quick.
@@larryz3985 isnt the q50 also more heavy💀💀💀 like bro really thinks hes in a whole other league than a maxima n its hilarious. The q50 is like 10000 or more higher than a maxima msrp for a slight performance boost💀💀
So at the end you tall about which competitor you'd personally choose and finish with justification of how the Maxima is better than that exact choice? I love that I chose the better of them and a great one in comparison to many others even out the price bracket. Maxima looks of another dimensional when comparing it to what type of vehicle it is and what it actually has. Yes it has a CVT but with that type of transmission it still out handles the "vehicle class" it's in. That torque steer you displayed is easily handled by turning off the VDC (traction control). Anyways, great video and amazing car. In total; you will not be disappointed nor unsatisfied during your driving experience in an 8th Gen Maixma
I just finished 3 days with a 2017 sv with 7 spd auto ( tranny was a little goofy and a wee bit annoying, but overall it worked well when flogging it) , I'm surprised how good this thing drives!, I have never been a front drive fan, until this thing, I flogged it for 120 miles on I-84 through Columbia gorge cruising 85- 100 , and pushing it to 130 often, I didn't even think about it being front wheel drive, no torque steer, anywhere, and it sticks ,the handling blew me away, it is remarkably poised in high speed corners, brakes were great, although I did not press them for extended periods of hard braking I love the ride , ,steering wheel initially is a bit hyper sensitive for me, , probably i'm not used to the fairly quick ratio- when cruising, a very small input would or seemed to me, give an exaggerated response , but drive it in deep & I doubt many people would be disappointed, It sure as hell handles a whole lot better than my 05 mustang gt . I had a hard time getting it to smoothly leave from a stop, Engine doesn't seem to make much torque below 2500, smooth starts were annoyingly difficult for me to master, I'd liken it something like a lean condition. But Stand on it ,and drive it hard and it's 3700 lbs of high quality hard diving FUN! Seat was very comfortable for my aging(64) fat ass , I would go as far as to put them in the comfort range of 325 beemer seats , maybe even better. Fun car!, would I buy one, not sure
just picked up a ‘17 for about 16k with 90k miles about a month ago and this is spot on! the handling and power at 50+ mph is where this car shines. it’s both the beauty and the beast
greyfox999 if you're considering the Fusion Sport then I'd say go with that. Can't beat the 2.7 Twin Turbo V6 and AWD. Although the Maxima is A LOT of fun too!
Got me a 2017 maxima sv recently. Feel comfortable racing some of these base package sports cars. Already beat a camaro and a mustang stock. Gonna try my luck with my neighbours 2017 charger sxt and my brother in laws 2016 cadillac cts. Well see how it goes.
Nissan Maxima=300 horsepower 261 pound feet of torque. Ford Fusion Sport=325 horsepower 380 pound feet of torque. Who do you think would win in a race???
May wanna do some research, that fusion is a damn dud!!! Maxima will eat that heavy all wheel drive shit!!! It also need 93 octane for those numbers and it's still slower 0 to 60!!!! Google and you tube will guide you!!!!!! Plus there over boosting a tiny engine that's not gonna hold up period!!!!
it sucks, test drove the 2018 maxima and 2018 Q50 3.0tt...obviously went with the Q50, the cvt is sluggish and slow compare to the newer automatics that are out there.
In sport mode the Maxima is anything but sluggish or slow. The CVT is hardly noticeable in sport mode. Normal is a bit sluggish but good for the freeway and keeping gas mileage high.
I just raced a maxima like this with my new 2018 v6 XSE camry and I was pulling pretty easily. I'm assuming it was a v6 maxima but idk if they even had a 4 cylinder option
And it still does not feel more luxurious than a maxima. The maxima has pano roof, Bose speaks quilted leather seats and it looks more handsome. Yes the scar pack is a little faster but who cares, with the maxima speed alone you will be beating up most cars like the accord, Camry v6 etc. if you really wanted a quick car that’s fast as balls you wouldn’t even bat the maxima way or the scat pack way. You would be looking for M packs, sport q50s and 392s. On the tier the maxima is in it beats damn near all of their competitors, only cars that comes close now is the new accord 2.0 stock chargers and stock q50s oh and Cameros.
Alfonso Derequito I couldn't really say...I have 68k on my Fusion Titanium and no issues. I think turbos will always be more expensive to maintain. That's a definite advantage with this Maxima and having a naturally aspirated engine.
agentd36 that's what I'm thinking. SHO is 365hp (although quite a bit heavier) and SS is 415hp. Big difference but the Maxima is still so fun to drive.
I had a 2012 Hyundai genesis 5.0 and bought it for $13k. That's 429 horsepower stock and they have tunes that make them quicker than a scatpack or newer mustang gt. Now THAT is the best sleeper money can buy. I love a strong V6 like a Maxima and they are fast but they get smoked by something like a genesis

I don't know how it would do against the 5.7 Hemi. That's a big difference in horsepower and torque. I think the Maxima is better looking overall than the Fusion. I just wish the Maxima had AWD as an option and a regular trans instead of that CVT. But the Maxima is still an awesome car...so fun to drive.
The Test Drive charger is freakin heavy car they need biger engine because its a large car thats the reason why need torque and horse power..so its power to weight ratio..still fair fight..with the cvt..ive prefer cvt than automatic because theres no hunting gears all the time..like i said i beat the 2016 charger v6 and challenger v6 with 8speed automatic..my maxima destroy them in freeway..
Merry Christmas well I mentioned in the video it has 300hp/261lb-ft and I did a 0-60 run on camera in 6 seconds flat. What other numbers could you want? 0-100? Quarter mile? Nurburgring time? LOL

@Rawkfist1501 so true. This thing with the CVT is freaking impressive I drove a fusion turbo couple days ago and it was freaking Dreadful compared to the Maxima and I'm talking about the acceleration and throttle response

Wow not surprising coming from a company that named a sedan for five hundred which takes the legendary MERCEDES 500 name and puts that "500" name to great shame.
The Test Drive to reply without being a dick like the other guy, the maxima is flagship sedan in competition with the Ford Taurus, Kia Cardenas, Toyota Avalon. The nissan Altima would compare to the fusion in terms of price and quality.
You're comparing apples to oranges when you mention the Ford Fusion. The Maxima competes with the Ford Taurus. The Altima competes with the Fusion.
