Fun fact: The premise of this is loosely based on a true story. There was a documentary made about it: The Mole Agent (2020) - "A private investigator in Chile hires someone to work as a mole at a retirement home where a client of his suspects the caretakers of elder abuse".

And the comparison to high school if you get into a nice community is apt. My grandmother was in assisted living in the '90s, and despite having missed out on high school she had that vibe of being one of the popular girls who sat at the big tables with her friends and talked to every one, and just enjoyed having fun with the other people at the community.

Also I'll add that The Mole Agent wasn't a straight documentary but included a script and filming of specific scenes, but without putting words in actors mouths (I think) and rather allowing things to unfold. This is characteristic of director Maite Alberdi's style, mixing documentary and fiction to create a narrative, as can be seen in el Salvavidas/The Lifeguard, among others.

Ted is a treasure. As Sam, Michael, or himself, he always engenders trust and radiates a kind of warmth. Which, coming from a grown man, kinda sounds weird, but it's true.

That is a classic New York Jewish (ie, vaudeville) joke.
Two women are sitting outside a restaurant, and one says to the other "The food here is terrible!"
And the other replies, "I know, and the portions are so small!"
      *hilarity ensues*

Looks cute, but I for one am curious to see how this ties in with the Hitchcock film Vertigo. That necklace he's supposed to be looking for is the same necklace that figures prominently in that move and it also takes place in San Francisco.
