Cool video dude. Just to note, better to mark the susp. leg with paint rather scrape it :o) & yeh there should be a washer on top of the mount below the nut...
Nice video! Thank you! Is there a particular brand of shock insert you'd recommend? Also, would you use oil-filled or gas-filled shocks? My '92 Cabriolet will only be used around town. Thank you again! Jim
@@patharris4783 I've recently bought Hilka Spring compressors (UK £20) took my suspension off last week, took off the coil spring to replace, as it failed the MOT on that - gutted. New one has arrived & will i be changing it within the next days.
Would you recommend wire wheeling and painting the lower interior spring housing to aid in rust prevention? I have both undercoating and bedliner to use in various places in my Cabby, I wondered if maybe a coat of the rubberized undercoating would help it.
@@bryansprojects3570 Awesome, thanks for the advice! I'll probably just give it a few good coats of some thick poly paint or something that will be wear resistant.
Probably anti seize compound. I like to put that on suspension parts or things that might get rusty in case you ever have to take it apart again. It is typically copper or silver in color.
You make this procedure easy to follow. I will be watching your other videos, too. You just got a new subscriber.

I always get gas shocks or struts if possible. They usually don't cost much more.
Thanks helpful video
cela va m'aider merci en plus bonne qualité de vidéo :-)
Little after but I need to replace mine and I was wondering which brand strut you purchased and how have they held up so far? Great video btw!
I am pretty sure they were KYB, it has been a while since I did this video. I am going to be doing the rears soon and I got KYB's for them.
@@bryansprojects3570 Okay, thank you very much lol
Nice video. BTW, where did you get that spring compressor kit you have. Looks very safe and stable.
I have had it a long time. I think it came from Autozone.
@@bryansprojects3570 thanks for responding, I'll look there.

If it were mine I would clean and paint. I am a little skeptical of rubberized undercoating.

Do you know how freely should the hat be moving? Cause if i over tighten the nut above the hat it causes the hat to stop spinning.
It should turn freely. I think there needs to be a washer on top of the strut rod maybe. It has been a long time since i did this video.
Where can I find the shock ?
I am pretty sure I got these on eBay. You can do a vehicle specific search and they normally have quality brands and free shipping.
What was the brown goo or glue you put on bolts? Didn't quite hear it?

Coppergrease?
lmao about the jug : ) what disks are those
Hey I’ve been trying to reach you!
