Can’t beat the baitsanity baits for beginner glide. Explorer gen 2 rivals a deps 250 for half the price, the baitsanity antidote is an excellent open water/cover glide and look into the spro kgb Chad shad if your fish are tighter to cover and a little more aggressive.
@@BoSpeyrer absolutely man. That would be great, I need a buddy to do it with. Since I've been on tour I really haven't been throwing big baits as much!
As someone who started really focusing more on swimbaits about 14 months ago, here is a list of a few that I find are great baits (and Mikey, I live in FL so they work well here): start with a few from Mike Bucca. Learn how to throw them. Learn the different swims. Spend several months with these and find out what you like and don't like, and then branch out. I highly recommend the bull shad and bull gill and gill glide. Rats. Get a solid top water rat. Bucca makes one, but there are several custom rat makers that have excellent baits for ~$100. PB Rat and Pete Rodent's EC Rodent is what I use. For soft plastic swimbaits, I prefer Working Class Zero Citizens. Any color will work. I think you already met up and fished with Keith Wilson down South FL. He is the king of throwing Citizens and Battle Shads in FL and as you can see from his Instagram channel, he catches a TON of bass > 7 pounds using just those two baits in a year. They are a bit hard to find, but they can be used in and around grass, mats/pads here in FL and just about anywhere else on the water. As for your requested soft plastic shiner, I recently bought the Savage Gear 8" in Carp color that I think is going to be great. I'll keep you posted. Great video. You should pick up a few of these and then do a few videos just throwing nothing but swimbaits!
I make Baits for a hobby. Specializing in extremely shallow running Crank baits just a little deeper than a one minus. I actually use wood called, basswood. LOL. Those baits you were looking at, are works of art. And very time consuming I’m sure. And I understand the cost of paying for one of those lures. .cool video!!!
Just watched this video tonight, tracked down Bo on fb and just made a killer deal with him on a new (very hard to get swimbait!) So stoked I stumbled across your page!
Working on a glidebait right now. Already caught 4 smallies on it. Messing with the weights and testing the action, to replicate a slow floating, and a slow sink version. Never fished a glide bait before, but man is it fun!
@@mikeybalzz idk where my reply went 5 minutes ago. Haha I'm only trying to be different! It's a 6 inch bait. I got some chest cam footage I can show you if you want to see. Footage is before I added a little more weight to it.
Chuckbaits victim Gill and trout are the best glides I’ve ever fished and I’ve fished deps, s waver, 3:16, KGB (also incredible), Klash, mattlures, etc etc
Some of the best “learner, carefree kinda baits” (hard baits) that you can use with reckless abandon so to speak are the Spro BBZ, Savage Gear, Storm Arashi, 22nd Century Triple Trout, CL8 Bait, Livingston, branded baits. Baits you can obtain easily and inexpensively from Tackle Warehouse for instance. These baits make it easy to learn to throw without fear of loss because they’re easy to replace and don’t cost a fortune. And if you don’t know how to tie a GOOD knot, do so before buying your swimbaits! If you can’t cast a heavier bait without a birds nest, don’t learn with swimbaits! Castoffs are expensive preventable losses of swimbaits. Also get yourself a GOOD Swimbait retriever that you can use to get your baits that hang up on trees, branches, ledges, etc. They’re inexpensive protection from unpredictable losses, especially for deep water fishing. They make it easy to fish a Swimbait without worrying about hanging up and losing your bait. The best I’ve used and own is the Premier Machine 44 Mag Lure Retriever Plug Knocker. Do a Google search for a source.
Great reply! Let me add another nugget. If you bank fish glides, get yourself a diving or pool mask and keep it in the truck, you won’t regret it! Yes, you will absolutely without question go in after a hung up chad, Henkel or any of those beauties!
I enjoy fishing big swimbaits but in my area they're seasonal unless you want to go weeks without a strike. With that said I never go to the lake without my 8" Bull Shad just in case the wind and cloud cover align for a feed window on big gizzards.
Pretty baits! I dipped a toe in recently, got a 6" magdraft, 8" magdraft, and some savage gear glides. On my budget that will have to suffice for now. They look cool in the water, yet to catch anything green on them, but stripers eat that savage gear I can attest to that. Still looking for the right water to catch a bass on them.
Right off St John’s in DeBary. Are these workable in River? I’ve fished lots of glide baits for Musky in WI and have reasonable skills but will these work on the River? Love the spots as you all are more into fishing for the relaxation, anticipation, and less pressure than the hardcore tournament types.

When he started with the Chad Shad and the Workhorse I knew the dude had some way cool stuff.
The Storm Arashi Swimmer and the Jackall Gantarel are really easy to get confidence in.
Thank ya BO (boo) for the vote of confidence. Still waiting for Mikey to come visit me at the shop :)

Notice how he kept the lid of that one box from flopping all the way open, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why, lol.
