      Howdy Andy I appreciate it buddy 😎🤝
      I did feel a danger feeling, I wanted to turn the outside but I thought I would pay attention to what I was feeling, wasn’t worth getting hurt on and then the thought came to me to use the grinder to finish it up, Take care have a good one buddy 🤝

    I like that you are willing to try anything with your adventuresome spirit, Kimsey! Power carving looks like it would be a very fun hobby all by itself. Just think of all the un-turnable wood you could save! LOL! This turned our real nice, along with the square winged bowl, too! You must have a rock tumbler going 24/7/365 to have that many polished rocks! Sure some pretty ones! Fun video to watch, thanks, buddy! 😊

      Howdy Phil! Thanks I appreciate it 😊 Yep absolutely nothing would be thrown away or burned in the carving world ☝️
      More wood piles saved up to pile up Lol 😄
      Actually My mother-in-law gave us a pretty big pile of tumbled rocks when they moved a few months ago and then we had went to a little outing a couple months ago to a town and there was the store with cool looking rocks and he a a giant tub of polished rocks and different sizes of bags a you picked a bag for what ya wanted to spend and cram as much rocks as ya can in the bag as long as it closes your good Lol, anyway I got 4 of those bags he had a price that I just couldn’t pass up, I hand picked 2 bags and my wife the other 2, there’s some called tigers eye that was one of my favorite ones, one bag was just of those ones but when we got home with them we dumped them all together just looks pretty cool all the colors together, we have debated on getting a tumbler still yet to get one, Take care buddy hope you had a great weekend 🤝

      And thanks for your opinions on the cracks!
      I been trying to figure out something to beautify the turnings that have cracking that’s so severe that someone looks at the bowl and doesn’t want it because it’s got a few cracks in it, so I think I will try to make the turnings to where somebody actually wants it because the cracks look kinda cool.

    You done well to get something out of that lump of old oak, the crack is massive. I’ve got some nice lumps of cherry but the cracking on them looks similar to your oak.
    The bowl itself is a nice thing not to everyone’s taste but in my book much mor attractive than a thin walled perfectly turned standard bowl.
    Great videos keep em coming 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      @kimseyjustkimsey5256  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks buddy I appreciate it! Yep I agree definitely not everyone’s taste, I like some pieces with the thick wall just depends on the look you’re going for I guess, this one was a heavy duty one and pretty darn heavy 😄
      Take care glad you enjoyed the video 😎😊

    I kept my eye on that crack, didn't see that grinder coming, great job and finish, that was a cracking inside finish on the square bowl, still not sure bout the grey colour though. Hey love the sunset and the clouds at the end mate beautiful sky. All the best from Lincolnshire UK

    • @kimseyjustkimsey5256
      @kimseyjustkimsey5256  8 месяцев назад +1

      Howdy Gary Thanks Yep that crack was a little worrisome 😣 I definitely couldn’t bring myself to turn the inside just felt a danger feeling inside and the grinder was the only thing coming to my mind to finish it up, the grey on the square one was grey rust oleum paint and white and then clear coated with shellac, I’ve got a lengthy Timelapse video combining those Timelapse clips I’ve got to get on here, Take care buddy 🤝

    I agree that the feather grain in the block of wood would have been great but burning it took away all that beauty. IMO, should’ve filled the crack with epoxy and turned it like a regular bowl without burning. You’ve been burning s lot of pieces lately. Why?

    • @kimseyjustkimsey5256
      @kimseyjustkimsey5256  7 месяцев назад +1

      Howdy Stuart Thanks for your thoughts on it, I just didn’t have the patience to do any epoxy on it, was just dreading a BigGomMess which I usually make when messing with epoxy or resin, sometimes I can deal with but just couldn’t bring myself to do it on this project, I don’t really know why I been burning so many I just felt like it was the right thing to do 😄
      Have a good one buddy 🤝
