I had the pleasure of meeting Gary Rossington about 2005 when they were in town for a show. He hung out with us for several hours riding around Dallas on motorcycles, eating some Mexican food and drinkin' a little beer. He was a regular guy - friendly, down-to earth, easy to talk to like he didn't even know he was a superstar. Some people are just like that. It was a good time. When we (me & my girl) showed up at the concert at the Starplex, I didn't see my brothers' bikes. I asked the parking lot attendant where the bikes were parked. He looked at me and said "Your group is parked in there." and pointed at the entry gate into the venue. I said "In there?" "Yeah. Just go through that wide gate and you'll see them." I just rode right into the Starplex at Dallas Fair Park. No ticket, no parking fee. My girlfriend couldn't believe it. I put the kickstand down, got off my bike and we were looking at the stage. It was the coolest thing. It's hard to believe he's gone, like so many others. But he sure left alot behind. He'll be remembered for a long time to come.
