Henning has broken ground with amp and guitar makers. I’ve been reading and watching gear reviews for many years. Henning has an ability to vex people into the most unexpected far fetched unorthodox reviews ever that include showers of blessings combined with humiliating and “please GOD make this end” moments of Jr high school tom foolery. Plenty of sex jokes and the occasional product getting licked.
I watched this before the rant video, and I'm watching it again because I enjoyed it. Henning thinks like an engineer when he does his reviews as well as thinking like a musician, plus he knows how to have fun. I think that's a damn fine combo! Animals at end :)
Yep, needs to come with and assignable built-in expression pedal, not sure if the shelf idea would be good, depends on the implementation, but moving parts that have to withstand a lot of pressure are generally a bad idea.
That staggered layout on the footswitches is so much better (better ergonomics - less chance of actuating error during performance) than anything else on the market; I don’t know why every manufacturer doesn’t already do that! And of course, the H&K Black Spirit does the Le Metal.
I have the Black Spirit 200 head and love the tones I get. This product is going to sound just as good as the Black Spirit 200 and I'm fine with it for what it is but I do think that this could have been "more". I love the pre-loops and would definitely utilize those and I certainly like the second cab output. I do still think this should be revised a bit in terms of features (like IR loading, on-board effects options, stereo, additional IO for signal routing), considering the competition. Case and point why the ISP Theta isn't selling as much as the Helix or Kemper Floor...i'd just hate to see this not sell as well due to the alternatives on the market.
I thought this was interesting. Looking into as many of the possible uses of something as possible and trying to apply what it can do to specific use cases that someone buying it may not think about until they're on stage wondering how/if they can make their gear do a certain thing is great to see. Good work.
This is the perfect platform to do what Peavey did, and install a couple of 9/18v pedal power output jacks! All amps should have that, which would do away with added power supply/wall wart BS!! 🎶🎸

I really like some ideas they had with that amp. To have a looper/switcher build in and beeing able to Control #1 your before the amp chain(loop) #2 your amp set up itsself and #3 the possible build in effects and/or #4 your effects-loop with just one push of a button is just Genius. I don´t mind the missing expressionpedal because that amp is build trying to enabel you to use other pedals and the choice of Expression pedal is imo a really personal opinion and a build in Version will probably never be good enought if don´t want to raise the Price for a feature most of the People never gonna use. I see a really great opportunity to make that such a great pedal platform. Just give more loops and make them may be even switchable as before amp or effects loop so you can have may be 5 to 8 pedals beeing able to use them in any preset as you wan´t. (+1 or 2 expressions as well that you can assigne to the loops) And just sorry to say H&K but imagine those Features with the BluGuitar AMP 1. That would probably be my Dreamamp. Thx Henning for the Video it was great to see you asking all those Question and coming up with loads of (some more spme less ;P) practical ideas whish probably most of us would have never come up with and to keep the Company on their toes. I’m just not a fan of the way the black spirit amps sound. Obviously I’m wrong cause people seem to like them a lot. The grandmiester and tubemiester amps are still some of my favorite amps though. Super awesome.
WTF??? I watched Hennings "rant" video yesterday, before wathing this video. Almost expecting him to be overly harsh and hard on H&K. All I could see was Henning telling people how good this amp is, and having some thoughts about how he thinks it could be an even better product. How this could be seen as an overly harsh video, I have no idea. I guess people who find this harsh needs to get out in the world and try to experience some real harsh reviews of their work. Grow up people! Henning, keep up the good work! I don't always agree on your thoughts and views about everything, but I they make me think about what I like and don't like about products and that is what I wan't :)
Hey, we made an awesome amp that’s portable. And the same again as combo being portable as well, because it includes a cab as well. Now buckle up - we are releasing another portable amp as floorboard, which is the same one, but it’s also portable! What? I mean - why? It’s gonna be a good product, I have no doubt about that, but it’s not like anyone had any problems with the weight of the black spirit 200 head. So... I like Hughes & Kettner but pardon me for not quite understand the need of heat another release of the black spirit 200. Tbh I would be a lot happier with something else or bass amps. I think the market was filled with enough black spirit 200 options already.
I own to many floor processors ......this is cool but they might be a little late to the game .....never want to be the last one to the dance!..........great vid anyways!!
I came here after the 'rant video'. My original opinion stands: talk about shortcomings when reviewing. If the sounds are the same as the previous two iterations, then focus on what's new and different. Good work, Henning. May your noon-time meeting about space be soon and constructive.
A bit combative and it's unlikely that he is the one making most of these decisions, but the players will only benefit from H pointing all of this out. There is a difference between reviewing a product, giving the pros and cons (as well as ways the company could improve the product) and a demo, where you're just getting sounds (and possibly covering up the products shortcomings).
I think this where the BS technology should happen. Didn't get why i should have the Head instead of a GM. Combo, mkay... But it totaly makes sense on the floor.... Just thinking...

Such 'small' additions would require the cost to go up considerably. It's not like they would just whap one on there, it would require research and development, which is prohibitive. I review... I am not here to please the brand, but to review a product and point out possible areas where it could be better... so YOU will get better products. I look at a product and I call out what I see... so what was wrong about that... the direction was VERY clear... don't make a product video for H&K but rather a review of a product that was put in front of me.

By-the-way: I've gone down the modeling road so many times only to have it end in disappointment. I go direct to FOH with Fender Level Set Buffer > tc electronics hypergravity mini > xotic SL Drive > sweet cream > Le clean > Hotone Cab Sim > cheap behringer eq > DI > FOH. I put Delay, Mods & Verb in the loop of le clean. Sans amp, it's as far as I'll go. I've done all the modelers accept the Kemper and was left feeling like i just ate a gallon of low carb ice cream. (Boss GT 100, 1000 & Helix included) Unless I could get a 90 money back guarantee on a profiler, i just don't have enough faith in modelers try again. I like the direction Two-Notes & others are taking with tube on the board > FOH options. I don't have much faith that anybody will TRULY come through with a modeler that has the sound a well thought out board can produce. Especially with the skyrocketing quality and functionality of mini pedals.
@@EytschPi42 I applauded that aspect above. You asked questions, pointed out better/alternate solutions and pointed out issues for which the poor chap didn't have the answers but the rambling, bad camera angles and chaos made it very difficult to watch/listen.
because there really isn't much new about it. It's a flat version of the Black Spirit with a built in Foot Controller and two loops... that's it really... there isn't really a major need to even make a video about it if you already heard the Black Spirit 200

excellent vid, lovin the interaction and openness to the dialog about the product and how it would work in various situations.
I use the Headphone out of my Headrush to my FRFR so I can have separate volume from the Master volume which is sending a signal to the FOH.

I would have bought it but it lacks the expression pedal shelf clicky housing, so I didn't.

Too much talking (took 20 minutes to demo the amp) and it sounds like you have a grounding issue.
