@@SarahJeanisme I do not blame you! I love that book and I live for that book but I completely agree with you that sometimes it actually reads like a research paper on language and translation studies. I had to read certain parts in certain chapters a couple of times to get what they were saying.
As for Throne of Glass, it’s one of my favorite series ever. You should read it! I will say, the first couple of books were definitely written with a teenage/young adult audience in mind. Heir of Fire is an incredible book and makes the first two books worth it. Hot take, but Tower of Dawn is my fav in the series. And Kingdom of Ash will make you laugh, sob, cry happy tears, and give you emotional whiplash in the best way possible

Through audible, Babel was a fantastic listen. The characters and world is fleshed out very nicely.

Wuthering Heights is a classic written in 1847. It’s difficult reading even for English as a first language speakers! Good for you you for even attempting to read it!!
@@patriciahawkins9997 hey all, if you're learning English it's older English, but so would the KJV Bible be older English due to the old-english styles. If you're Christian, be careful Wurthering Heights is heavy in black magic themes and can give a dark hopeless feeling.

The Atlas Six is INCREDIBLE and definitely a fall read. I wasn’t a big fan of the second and third books in the trilogy, but they are worth reading.

Randomly stumbled across this video and got a couple new recs out of it (it did not have the intended effect of making me sleepy, and I definitely don’t need more books, but here we are 😂).
Impressed that you are giving “Wuthering Heights” another try- I haven’t read it but literature from that era really takes concentration to get into. I read a lot of Dickens and it always takes me about 50 pages before I feel the groove of the language and it gets a bit easier.
“The Secret History” is on my tbr, and if you haven’t checked out “The Goldfinch” by the same author, I highly recommend. Such a great book. I’m looking forward to reading more of her, that’s for sure!

11:45 this book sounds interesting, I do recommend The Woman by Kristin Hannah if you haven’t read it (historical fiction) so good
I read Babel a couple of years ago in December when I was off work with Covid and it was the perfect reading experience (apart from being sick 😅). I need to give it a re-read; it’s a wonderful book! I hope you enjoy! I have The Atlas Six but haven’t read it yet.

talking about “Wuthering heights”, English isn’t my first language as well and I’ve been putting this book off for eternity for the same reason, so I wish you (and, probably, myself 🫡) luck with it!
@@milaniezh the trick with Wuthering Heights is getting through the first 3-4 chapters. Once Nelly takes over the narration, I found it a lot easier to follow!

i’m new to your channel so i know this is a bit late, but if you’re thinking about getting back into fantasy… you NEED to read throne of glass. i read it so many years ago and it’s still one of my all time fave book series, if not my most favorite. the characters personally are what make the series for me - i have yet to find characters like them in any other book!! :)

I see your dark academia tbr and highly highly suggest An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson! It was just released yesterday but I stayed up until 1AM on a work night finishing the ARC and I cannot recommend it enough. It has the dark academia, southern gothic, morally grey characters, a really interesting magic system, lots of moral and philosophical based bits and a sprinkle of romance! Also a rat friend named Gregory. 1000000/10, 5 stars, I think about the ending at least once a day!

HIGHLY recommend The South Side Stories Series by Abigail Drake!! also the Blue Moon Bay witches series. both great short pallet cleansers! Also next time you need a dark vampy look for fall try and find Black Cherry by Rimmel 10/10!

Hi fleur !! I´m dying to know your opinion on the atlas six, I´ve read it twice and the first time I didn't really liked it, but the second time I actually appreciated it a lot more
The characters are so complex and kinda morally grey and pretentious which makes them super interesting but also kinda unlikable at some points, and I guess thats part of the charm of the story. Anyways, hope you enjoy it !!!💕💕
