    Was up at the NF of the American about a month ago, prospected 3 different areas and got gold from all 3. Going back next weekend to use my new pvc hand dredge I built and get to the bottom of a very promising submerged crack, very excited! Love your vids, they are filled with great info. Keep it up brotha, oh, and nice ore you had in the previous video. Thats the stuff I look for around my hometown. Have fun breaking it up :-)

    hi greetings from british columbia canada ...you make great vids....re vacuuming bedrock.... i have a claim on the fraser river with lots of loose fractured bed rock i use a shop vac as well ... first time i tried it was on the day i was leaving my claim after 10 days up there a 3 gallon buckets worth didn't pan it out til i got home lots of fine gold and a picker ... next time up there made a vid which you can see on my channel if you like ....like you said no easy water and vacking is the only way to go ....well i guess after that would come cracking bedrock ... which you also give good lessons on thanks mickey miner

    What did you do with the big dirty quartz rock? I would like to see how you processed it..

    The black pan you used in this video is what I have. Do you like them better than the large riffle garret style pans for fine gold?

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  5 лет назад

      Yes I do, I don't think Garrett is that special, really.

      I always thought if i were focusing small pickers and better, that i could speed pan a little faster with a garret. But most of what I find is very fine. Thanks for the reply

    I'm curious...if you're working in an area that has a history of giving up gold, wouldn't it make sense to dig deeper than just a few inches to a foot? After all, in theory, gold has to have been washed down from higher elevations for decades if not eons, and the older gold, to my way of thinking, would be found deeper down in the earth. Or am I not thinking of something that discounts that theory?

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  7 лет назад

      Deeper is usually better, yes; you want to get to bedrock as much as possible. However, it's not always worth moving all the overburden to get down there.

    • @mjkatz0129
      @mjkatz0129 7 лет назад

      I can understand that. I definitely wouldn't want to dig so far down that I ended up starting another mine. Lol. Guess it would depend on the area you're in, how far down the bedrock is, and what the test sites show...and how strong your back and your desire to dig deep are. :)

    Nice videos but it makes much more sense if you show some finish. Like how you processed the gold out of that rock and how much it was in it ect. same with other videos.

      I can do a high-quality instructional video, setting up equipment, choosing locations and backdrops and so on - or I can prospect for gold for real and find significant gold. Not both at the same time. I wasn't trying to find gold here, just showing how I do it.

      It's like watching a Food Recipes program telling you the recipes without having tried it themselves. That would be pointless to make the program in the first place.
      One can only give what they already have. You presented yourself as a gold prospector not as a full time youtuber and that was the key for attracting some interrest. At least for me.

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  8 лет назад +3

      I've recovered over 2 ounces of gold; I'm hardly a novice. But while filming these videos, I'm not actively trying to mine. By the time you get the lighting and equipment going, set up the shots, you don't have time to seriously mine. That's why the videos on here that do show you lots of gold at the end of a day are usually either faking it, or have lousy videos. If you want gold porn, that's great. But if you want to learn how to be a great prospector, watch my videos.

    • @adamdilem941
      @adamdilem941 8 лет назад

      HowToDrillAWell You're right about many viseos faking it or throwing some flakes in the pann with the black sand then go OMG! However I believe that one needs to have credentials in fishing before teaching you how to fish. Or at least show that his methodes work and not just talk.
      If you don't go all the way to check if you're making any results from your theory. It's just a theory. People want to try something that is proven to work not just a theory.
      You have gone all the way to set up equipement, soend hours a day collecting black sand from here and there, promissing stones ect but you don't have the passion and curiosity to refine and check how much gold you get from it. You're slowly loosing your own skills and can't give what you don't have. Do you want people watching you to see you as a gold prospector or as a youtube money prospector? You can be both by returning to your original passion and purpose.
      I am saying this because I like your prentation skills and your videos but slowly I kinda lost interrest because a crucial criteria is missing here.
      Please don't be upset with me. I have a positive intent saying all these critics. I might be wrong though.

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  8 лет назад +3

      I think you're missing the point. The fact that I didn't actively prospect *this day*, to you, means I have never tested these methods, or that I have no credentials. If what I say makes sense and works, use it - credentials be hanged. If not, there are plenty of channels out there to watch.
      If you want to see some of the gold I've found, look at the end of "how to find gold #12", or check out wheregoldis.com/popup_image.php/pID/38 - which I found while filming the first 20 videos of this series over the course of 2 months, starting knowing nothing, and none of which was found on camera. There's about an ounce and a half there. I know of no one who has done better from a standing start, learning as they go.
      By the way, all of my gold videos (40ish?) make like $20 a month between them, so I'm really not in this as a "youtube money prospector". If you want to show appreciation, you could buy the DVD version on my website at www.wheregoldis.com

    Dry classification you tossed because you believe only flour flake is present.Closed mind mining.There could be much bigger gold you tossed out...

    What size classified material do you recommend for a 40 inch sluice box similar to the one that you use?

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  9 лет назад +1

      Kokanee dab It depends on the kind of gold your area has. This kind of mining often has finer gold, which means the better you classify the more you're going to retain, as a rule. Of course there's a tradeoff with time involved as well, at some point it isn't worth it.
      I usually work with 3/8s classified, using my bucket classifier, it's a good compromise on most things. If I'm trying to move a lot of dirt, and know I'm not looking for stuff that's too fine, I'll classify manually only down to about an inch or so. Next video will talk about that a bit more.

      You don't prospect for gold to get rich. If you do, you'll fail. It's hard, backbreaking work and if you're smart and work hard, you can make maybe $10 an hour in a good spot. It's a lot of fun, but it's NOT a way to make a living unless you don't need much to live on and like hard, independent work.
