I like their bodies, their feel, their displays, their menus. That's what Sony was never able to make me : fall in love with it
I do without fail find Panasonic colours / tones / richness superior to all when I catch reviews like this. Also, your commentary on the horse race at 300fps is absolutely outstanding.
I got to give it to ya. The video of those horses is super cool looking. The overall grey tone and the contrast from the color of those horses looks epic👌
I have three GH5’s and love the video footage I get! I generally run 4k30 in HDR+ h.265, I really love my cameras and my number 4 main camera will be a GH6 most likely! (I shoot weddings, live events, and commercials for a living)
Since you no doubt like and know the menu/buttons and usage of GH5, you can't go wrong with GH6. The colours are the biggest improvement in my mind, I spend much less time correcting footage in weird lighting, and the 4k 120 has been surprisingly good.
Casey , would love to see you test the R6 II's cinema cam implementation of the Detect Only autofocus (it's under Subject Detection AF) setting where the camera will only focus on on people (or animals) and will ignore everything else. It's pretty awesome for talking head stuff and even vlogging but would work for many situations. This is unique to Canon cinema cameras AFAIK and the R6 II is the first mirrorless to get this.
The horse slo-mo is much better now. Thanks for fixing it! We all make mistakes, like I did with my comment on your last video. 😉 BTW my six-month-old granddaughter, who's in my lap as I write this, is fascinated by this video. Maybe it's your ASMR voiceover. 😆
Hey Kasey, you just earned a new sub! Love your humour and style, might have been binging a bit. Bought a Panasonic G9 thanks to your vids and i am super happy with it!
I just found your channel a week ago, and it does appear you are truly looking for the perfect camera. I believe that you would be the person that does locate one, if the perfect camera manifest itself. Most people would believe your video of the horses was good with either camera, and they would be proud if they were able to get the same results. I am just trying to have fun, and if I become somewhat pro, it will be because the fun took me there.
You should go through all this wildlife footage you have and start uploading it to a stock footage site somewhere. You have some great bird shots that would be nice for bird identification websites, there are lots of great images but video highlights their behaviours and mannerisms. I haven't seen animals at Riverdale in years You've shot there a few times nice footage.
I’m trying to decide between the Fuji xt2 with a canon ef 70-300 duct taped to it or a Sony zve10 with GM 70-200. Wanna do 120p in grainy low definition. Which should I go for?
Don't buy the 9mm 1.7 if you are going to sell the GH6, because you're not going to want to sell the 9mm. It's in stock at B&H but I guess not in Canada.
Really a toss up. I would take GH6 more budget-friendly and portable lens options available. But which viewfinder did you find more usable? Did one travel better than the other? Battery life is important but not a deal breaker. Which one feels better in your hand? You better not say my mom, lol.

Great video! I want to see more GH6 videos even though I have a GH6. How about trying the 100-300mm Panasonic? I got some great results from it in 4K120 and it has a nice range. same thoughts, or even the RP for super small budget. Sure, you miss on speed, autofocus tracking, slowmo video etc, but in overall the R/RP are just superb cameras, STILL!
i don't even understand why people hated this camera so much to begin with... i still own mine and every camera that comes out after i'm looking to "upgrade" and come to conclusion that my R is better in many ways... the only area that i think it suck back passages is the rolling shutter in 4k, you need to be very careful when panning especially at long focal range. But look at every footage of it and it look way more cinematic than the newer camera. It reminds me a bit of the c100mkii.

I am biased because I own one, but the EOS R colour is the best. 1080p is the best all round. The 4K is great as long as the camera is static (on a tripod to prevent the jello), and the 720 is good apart from the moire, as you say. It only has electronic stabe, but that is better for video, IBS for video is not good.
The Panasonic HD footage looks softer than Liberace at the playboy mansion. Also, the GH6 is bigger and heavier than the R6 II so what is the advantage of that tiny sensor? Also, 4K 120 is super cropped on the GH6 and manual focus. The 4K 60 on the R6 II is industry leading oversampled full frame with amazing DPAF. Also, yes, the R6 II has the best battery life and best rolling shutter for any camera outside of the big bois - R3, A1, z9. I haven't charged my R6 II in 2 months since I got it and I've never turned it off. I may use it to power my house at some point to keep my hydro bills down.

Don't overthik that. Panasonic does not make its own sensors. They rely on whatever other brands provide. S5II is basically a Sony sensor. Maybe this new company (I forgot the name) can develop PDAF version of the GH6 sensor for GH7. But will they? And when? They started research on GH6 sensor before GH5 was released. Of course GH7 could use OM-1 sensor. And that one is theoretically capable of open gate 5K 60p, 16:9 5K 120p, oversampled 4K 120p, possibly 180p, probably 4K 240p with minimal quality loss and HD 300p with minimal crop. But you never know. You are into slow-motion wild life. There is nothing on the market that would satisfy your need except for what you already have. Not even Sony a1. Not even Canon R5. Fuji X-H2S was closest but it dissapointed you too (cropped 4K 120p, awFullHD capped at 240p). Like with Olympus OM-1, Fuji X-HS2 could have squeezed so much more from their sensor videographically. But among cropped sensors for now only Panasonic have enough cojones to push the boundries. Long story short. Wait for GH7, but don't sell GH6. It is hard to sell because of the S5II raised expectations yet you don't know what future will bring you.
@shariqahmed336 So you can replace GH7 with G9 II, G10 or whatever in my comment and it will be all the same. Be sure taht photocentric MFT "flagship" like a successor of G9 will be somewhat limited in terms of video capabilities as compared to GH6. For instance in terms of time limit of the recordings or lacking the most extreme framerates that would require heavy overheating management taken into consideration when designing its body and processor. Remember how long did they make us wait for GH6? In the meantime they had to refresh the GH5 into GH5 II and update firmware on G9 few times. This time it will take shorter but how long, we don't know. And we cannot be sure what the specs will be.
Technically not more dynamic range by the numbers…but. Went back to a live music video I shot 9yrs ago, and the footage is stellar in low light. That camera was ahead of its time, and another thing I noticed is there was a time recently when a friend thought I had a 4k camera (I did not tell him I shot it 9yrs ago with a 5D Mark ii)...He asked what camera I used and I fibbed. Told him it was the new $8,000 Black Magic Design videocentric DSLR. He said "Man I need that camera". I started laughing and told him it was a 5D Mark ii....he just could not believe it
People just like the video it's sarcasm......I own the r6mkii it's the best overall choice in its category and price range. With 2 others close depending on what your needs are.

I started laughing and told him it was a 5D Mark ii....he just could not believe it
Since the 5D Mk2 sensor only has 11.9 stops of dynamic range and the R6 II has about 14.5 stops of dynamic range, I'm not sure how this could be....
People just like the video it's sarcasm......I own the r6mkii it's the best overall choice in its category and price range. With 2 others close depending on what your needs are.
But does the Laowa 6mm have the magic wide angle juice?
