Too cool Thank you much from ice cold Canada:) I like this 154 instead of 145. I just had to see you playing over the vocals and excellent camera work too. Love your entire 9:34 jam .
Love Love Love this ! its great to see a young cat so passionate about this great music. Layla was EC's masterpiece IMO and your doing us all who love this music a great service. Keep it up brother
This very version of the song on this album drive me to learn to play electric blues. It will be the song played at my funeral. “Gonna leave here running…”
I've watched them all and am hugely, hugely impressed. It's Saturday and my day so far has gone in a flash, admiring these clips. Well done again, young man!
Stuck in Montreal airport listening to this. Life could be much worse- great stuff. I love this album and you have a great take on the musicBest wishesChris
+slicerhere I know how to be stuck in airport... I hope you had a pleasant flight after all. Wheare you traveling? Thanks for the kind comment. I'm glad you like it!
+ColinStachowski I travel a lot between BC and Newfoundland-Canada. Fog is an issue at St. John's airport Newfoundland. RUclips helps- and have to like your takes on some Clapton classics- CheersChris
This is special besides your great playing is that it gives us a guide where Eric lays back and we hear Duane’s choice of notes in his solo choruses. Especially sweet is hearing Eric say “whoa...” in response, respect and encouragement. It shows the brotherhood and enjoyment during these studio moments faithfully captured by producer Tom Dowd. Enjoyed watching how Eric’s solo sections are actually constructed- well done!
At 5:35-5:40 on the turnaround I just noticed how deftly he moves the plectrum up between his index and middle finger and then thumbs the string, then back again without missing a hair on the beat. Only caught that as I was viewing at 0.50% playback speed on the RUclips -menu option. Slick! Great technique!
Colin. As Always You Rock the Blues. Do you have a Clapton Cover band or Hell, your own Band! I saw Blind Faith in Phoenix in 69, along with Delaney and Bonnie. I was just floored, Jim Gordon, heck, the rest of the dominoes were there. Fantastic. Although the Orange Sunshine might have helped! Any possibilities of Key to the highway and have you ever loved a woman tabs? I do Hope everything is going well , if your Full time Musician or just an Awesome part timer😎 keep moving on! Also do you consider doing Johnny Waters, or Michael Bloomfield?
it's amazing that Eric Clapton made his first album and Layla on one year and played a major role in All Things Must Pass. Thanks for bringing 1970 back to life again. I truly love your videos and watch them every day.
ColinStachowski Eric Clapton ' first album was the first I ever bought. it was a cassette tape. I listened to it till the tape broke. I had no idea he was the guitar God in Cream or that he was connected to the Beatles. Another album I think is great is Derek and the Dominos Live.
This is perfect! Your guitar blends so well with the mix that at first I thought I couldn't hear it. Then I realized that it IS upfront. Congrats mate!
As a huge fan of this era of clapton's playing, I really enjoy what you do. As a lesson it might help some people to include a tuning note with the video as the Layla tracks were sped up a little. Again thanks a million.
Funny, out of all the outstanding stuff Clapton had done, This jam with Duane is the one I always come back to. And for what I understand, was not planned.
Wow!! Hey Colin, I Really Loved Your Guitar Playing Here On Eric Clapton's "Key To The Highway", My Very Talented Blues Bro!! You Put Alot Of Feelings & Passion Into Your Playing Here, My Friend!! Best cover of the song, for sure. You must have learned it by ear, but, if you know where can I find tabs for this, I would thank you very very much. Keep up the great videos! Cheers!
I play the slide on this tune with my band Bootleg from Gainesville Fl Duane Allman is my hero. I saw Eric live several times with Derek Trucks. Eric deferred most of his solos to Derek which was great. Derek really knows how to get Eric's older and tired licks really popping. Eric is the reason I play guitar though. Another guy you may enjoy is my friend and first guitar teacher, Jimmy Herring. Thanks again, Respectfully Slide
Awesome playing :) I see that you are making guitar covers of almost all eric clapton's albums, do you have in plan to cover Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton? He is great in that one.
Zack Tallman Hello Zack, since I play through a digital version of Fender '57 Champ I can only say that you need to crank your amp just to get it overdriven and the guitar settings are just all full up. His Domino-days-tone is very simple.
Hey man similar to the other folks, do you think you could send me the tabs would be really keen to give this a crack. Also I'm a massive clapton fan and you absolutely ripped this up man good work!!
Timothy Seymour Thank you for good words Timothy! Of course, just give me your email address and I will forward the tabs to you as soon as possible. Thanks again!
Nice job kid. Ignore these little jerkoffs. Better yet, turn off the comments. You're better than most of them and on you way up. Fuckin playing like one of the all time best.Keep practicing and just enjoy this shit man. You def have something special. All the best to you!
+Dominic Dimele Thank you Dominic for your support! I'm not going to turn off the comments as I everyone have the right to share an opinion, and to be honest, I will surely miss such great comments like your above :)
I hear more of the guitar track your playing along to than really hearing you but it looks like your playing well. Sometimes playing along is like singing along with the car radio. Its easier to sound like your nailing it going note for note with a track. Do a video of just you playing it with backing track that just has the rhythm not all of claptons solo work as a guide... ..true display of you abilities.
Hi! If you like to hear me just with backing track, go check out my video of me covering 'Hotel California'. It's on my channel. You're right about playing with backing track and with original recording. But that's the way I like it. It's hard to find decent Clapton's backing tracks, especially for his less-known songs. I still hope you like my videos :) And remember: It's more about 'come and see how to play it' than 'come and see how I can play'.
I'll check out you other vids. you obviously can play very well. I get the watch how to play it vs watch how I play it distinction now. Check out little walter doing key to the highway from 1958 if you haven't heard it. It's cool to see where clapton ( and many others ) took it. I'm old so I do it more like little walter. ha. Best of luck to you.
Hey Mark. Thank you for your interest. No, I have never met Eric. I saw him live in Łódź, Poland once. I'm going to see him in concert again in a month. He'll be playing in Oświęcim, Poland. Cheers :)
Not sure if I've replied yet - kind of new to communicating on here, but I'm jealous, if you're going to see him in concert soon. If there's anyway you can forward any one of your Key to the Highway rendition to his website before, I would do it. I would venture to say it might get you a backstage pass - seriously! Nothing ventured - nothing gained. Right? Cheers back :) Mark in Naples, Florida

Great work man! Can you tell me the key of the song and the scales used?
What an honor, a real Jimmy Page here! (heh). It's a pentatonic scale and the key is A.
