this is what true emotion sounds like. it's not about hitting every note perfectly, not about singing a song 100% as it was intended to be. it's about anger, desperation, sadness and expressing all of that in the most powerful way possible. that's what makes jack, what makes this band, not only raconteurs but artists as well.
Today is the 2023 and who like me listen this masterpiece for a long time? This cover is full of feelings and energy, like Jack have something in his live with this song. Great cover for all times.😊❤
It is absolutely unbelievable how The Raconteurs did this song. It was one of my favorites I was obsessed with growing up and could not listen to enough and remains one of my all time favorites. Jack White and I really do have the same taste in music.
Sorry I have to repeat myself (and several others) but I just stumbled upon this once again... This is the first, and only, since Terry Reid's 1968 stunning version, time this song gets a pulse. And not just any, but a thunderous heartbeat. It explodes, instead of just limping along. So many people covered it... but only Terry and Jack gave it the jaw-dropping intensity that even the original lacked.
I remember going to see the White Stripes and the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather so many times with my mother when I was very young. And I always loved the music they made and adored the live show experiences, but now as I’m growing older and my mother has passed, I’m discovering the emotional attachment she must have had to these performances. Jack White and the people he formed these groups with held with such reverence the music from the 50s and 60s. They love those songs and reinterpret them into modernity, bringing new sounds and emotions. And those were the songs my mother heard as a child. Her ashes are in a Third Man Records 7” record box at her request. I’ll never not think of her when I look back on these live performances. This cover in particular.
The very best version of this song so far... to my humble opinion...feeling things the way I feel it. The moment when he hits me with his soul... #BANG BANG!
He surprises me as always. Never heard a bad cover by Jack White, this mister is incredible. The personality put in this is amazing, all my respect to the musicians
yeh, I didnt think anyone could cover this better than Terry Reid, but man, this is SO fantastic, they are very intense and Jack can really rock that guitar. I get the shivers at the way they end this song, I love it!!!!
all the people commenting about cher, yes very good, although this is definitely a cover of nancy sinatra's cover as it has heavy use of tremolo'd guitars which only nancy's did.
The speed differs between the Cher and Sinatra versions, which in turn changes the feel. I agree this is more based off off the Sinatra version than Cher’s even though that is itself a cover.
I never have respect for bands that do covers unless they are as good as (or better than) the originals. But both The Raconteurs and the White Stripes never disappoint me.
should give proper credit to the actual artist that wrote the song which is Sonny Bono. Without him there would be no Nancy Sinatra cover version of this song.
Jesus... This is really well done. what i love about covers that Jack White does, is that they are equal parts unexpected song choice and radically different interpretation. really Awesome! I LOVE JACK WHITE
Ladee, Wow I saw them on Austin too for the first time, I went Bang Bang, the new guitar god is back on Earth. I mostly listen to the 60's music but these guys are so hot I loves em!! Tell everyone to check these guys out. Peace
OMG I have Terry Reids CD (love him) and I also love 'Superlungs',yes Jack & Racs would make it their own brilliant cover, like this excellent version of Bang Bang.
I was five and he was six We rode on horses made of sticks He wore black and I wore white He would always win the fight Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down Seasons came and changed the time When I grew up, I called him mine He would always laugh and say "Remember when we used to play?" Bang bang, I shot you down Bang bang, you hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, I used to shoot you down Music played and people sang Just for me the church bells rang Now he's gone, I don't know why And 'til this day, sometimes I cry He didn't even say goodbye He didn't take the time to lie Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down
Damn, this is great music, bang bang, what a song. To bad the white stripes don't play with a full line up like The Raconteurs. The Reconteurs playing there songs and the white stripes songs is a dream of mine :-)
BINGO!! "Jolene" is another awesome example. Jack White is an amazing artist & should have the confidence that he does... He has paid his dues & WE reap the benefit!
14/15 years later had to come back to this💯
17 years and counting...
I love how Jack sings songs in female voices without changing the lyrics. He does the same in the White Stripes cover of Jolene.
this is what true emotion sounds like. it's not about hitting every note perfectly, not about singing a song 100% as it was intended to be. it's about anger, desperation, sadness and expressing all of that in the most powerful way possible. that's what makes jack, what makes this band, not only raconteurs but artists as well.
EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID!! ❤️
He’s so special
Oh boy you're right, you should totally check my lyrics (on youtube) or my posts (on instagram/twitter). Ibet you'll like my philosophy or art
Where do I download the song
the point is that he just cant sing the songs even 60%, he just goes straight raw emotion and guts.
Thats one of the most amazing covers of all time, they changed the song into their own style but has the same feeling as the original.
Marcos Gonzalez Liaño listen to the kaleo cover
the white stripes' cover of jolene is truly mindblowing as well
one of the best bands i've ever seen live they're so god damn intense
They recently came to Argentina for the first time. It was the best day of my life. I still cry when i listen to them and remember it
Today is the 2023 and who like me listen this masterpiece for a long time? This cover is full of feelings and energy, like Jack have something in his live with this song. Great cover for all times.😊❤
I love it how he says "he was black and I was white" instead of "he wore black and I wore white". such a nice Jack White-y detail
This cover is about the secret relationship between Jack Black and Jack White.
Buralardan bir türk geçmiş vay be
As far as I'm concerned..The Raconteurs did it! so badass!!!!!!!!!!! Don't care who done it before.
I watch this every month. So brilliant
God Jack, can I just fade away into the oblivion of your soul forever?
It is absolutely unbelievable how The Raconteurs did this song. It was one of my favorites I was obsessed with growing up and could not listen to enough and remains one of my all time favorites. Jack White and I really do have the same taste in music.
I absolutely love the way Jack puts his heart into the music.
The coordination is just outstanding.
Benson is the perfect foil to White. So controlled.
this is so accurate, they balance each other like Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood at their best

Damn Jack Lawrence is such an underrated bass player. HIs riffs are so simple but they always high light the main chords so perfectly.
Until I listened to this, I didn't believe you could literally get goosebumps from music. Amazing:)
That's when you know the song is something special. Closest thing to magic we have
Oh dear Lord! I love this cover so freaking much. He's makes me feel like I've been shot.
The very best version of this song so far... to my humble opinion...feeling things the way I feel it. The moment when he hits me with his soul... #BANG BANG!
+Miss Sunshine There are many good versions. But this is just real harakiri.
+Miss Sunshine I do verry much like this version and think david guetta made shit out of it but the original of nancy sinatra is still my nr. 1.
***** oh, guess i just assumed it was the original because it was old and the only old one i've heard of :p
Timo jissink nancy's version may be the most famous, but not the original version :) those credits go to.... Cher!
Miss Sunshine ruclips.net/video/Xr_aK3pp4ks/видео.html
This ones not bad either
Almost has a Led Zeppelin feel to it. Love it!
damn! finally this song gets the passion and conviction it deserves!
A friend of mine showed me this not long after it came out, still gives me chills, between the vocals and that singing guitar.... perfection
Equal parts heartbreak and sinister and they take you on the whole ride thrilling every step of the way.
Still coming back here after all these years
Theyre great, i love the color of lights that they use, it gives it a hypnotic effect
This version is so good. I come back to it every so often
Same
This is one of my favorite performances. Everything about it is great...carries so much emotion. Thank you for sharing the vid!
This may be the greatest song in history, sung in the best way ever possible. It's so strong but desperate... incredible.
I love this cover, I love Jack White...
This performance is hands down one of the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn’t get much bluer than this
He surprises me as always. Never heard a bad cover by Jack White, this mister is incredible. The personality put in this is amazing, all my respect to the musicians

rvery time the i listen to this song it gives me chills all over. props to jack you rock man!!!
Gotta love Jack White
can not express how many thanks i have for you putting this up.
It's a Sonny Bono song written for his then wife Cher in 1966.
yeh, I didnt think anyone could cover this better than Terry Reid, but man, this is SO fantastic, they are very intense and Jack can really rock that guitar. I get the shivers at the way they end this song, I love it!!!!
written by Sonny, first sung by Cher. Covered by Nancy Sinatra
Fred Phillips exactly! But this is a cover of Terry Reid’s version
Perfected by Jack White
@@foolycoolyface I agree definatley the best version
One of the best covers ever... period.
I can imagine Kill Bill 3
I cannot find adequate words for this performance...simply awesome.
all the people commenting about cher, yes very good, although this is definitely a cover of nancy sinatra's cover as it has heavy use of tremolo'd guitars which only nancy's did.
Thank you
The speed differs between the Cher and Sinatra versions, which in turn changes the feel. I agree this is more based off off the Sinatra version than Cher’s even though that is itself a cover.
actually, it’s more like Chers rock version (produced in 1987) cover
Thanks! I love the Oldies!
"He was black and I was white" :D Kinda funny in Jack White's mouth:P
I never have respect for bands that do covers unless they are as good as (or better than) the originals. But both The Raconteurs and the White Stripes never disappoint me.
Sin duda uno de los mejores cover que he escuchado, ese Jack rifa mas con los Raconteurs que con los Stripes, y ya es decir algo.
2021 ppl where you at on this masterpiece!!!
2024 here: BANG BANG! @ 2:55
"Do you find me sadistic? ... No Kiddo, at this moment, this is me at my most...
[cocks pistol] masochistic."
failed 8 year old comment
Great song, Great band, Great cover!
they are saving r&r...thanks
should give proper credit to the actual artist that wrote the song which is Sonny Bono. Without him there would be no Nancy Sinatra cover version of this song.
Masterful performance I see myself returning to watch every so often
When the cover it's better than original.
Sorry, it's my opinion.
Me too just got my ticket for the Toronto show yay! I hope they play this.
this is cover and if you don't like this cover, don't listen to it
everything jack white touches turns to gold...he is just amazing to see and hear live :)
This is actually Cher's song. Sinatra covered it later. I love the Raconteurs version. Excellent.
Anything with Jack White will be epic

Ladee, Wow I saw them on Austin too for the first time, I went Bang Bang, the new guitar god is back on Earth. I mostly listen to the 60's music but these guys are so hot I loves em!! Tell everyone to check these guys out. Peace
pure, perfection. jack and brendan are a match made by higher beings. whatever they touch becomes gold!
this has GOT to be the single most emotionally charged song I've been giving the honour of hearing in my life to this point.
I'm not too in to this band, but to not call this one of the greatest covers of all time would be foolish...ROCK ON!
Great quality man, we appreciate it =)
Amazing pipes on JW when he was screaming, gosh he's talented.
Art at it's highest level.Perfection.
Vraiment énorme! Merci pour la vidéo.
awesome, really. one of the best cover of this song.
I seen this live. It's bloody spectacular!
Nancy´s version is number one, but this one´s really good! Raconteurs are definitely number two on my list =)
this is by far the best version of the song to date!
Super reprise! Je connaissais pas The Raconteurs, c'est une belle entrée en matière.
Merci pour la vidéo.
This is the best cover of this song I ever heard.
may I add to my bucket list,,,, see this musical magic man in concert.
OMG I have Terry Reids CD (love him) and I also love 'Superlungs',yes Jack & Racs would make it their own brilliant cover, like this excellent version of Bang Bang.
I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down
Seasons came and changed the time
When I grew up, I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
"Remember when we used to play?"
Bang bang, I shot you down
Bang bang, you hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, I used to shoot you down
Music played and people sang
Just for me the church bells rang
Now he's gone, I don't know why
And 'til this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down
He doesn't distort his voice, he just sounds like the badass that he is.
This is a dank cover by the way!
Damn, this is great music, bang bang, what a song. To bad the white stripes don't play with a full line up like The Raconteurs. The Reconteurs playing there songs and the white stripes songs is a dream of mine :-)
