The distance variations makes it a challenge to find those previously marked pieces of cover and structure. I wish I could find the magic formula to tell me to add or subtract that 9'-18' variation. Best tool I've found is a c-rig :) Great info again! Keep these coming, please!
Hello!! I would like to ask a question about point-1! When I installed point-1 on my elite fs9, and was ready to calibrate, I found that the rate of turn was already 5-6 degrees, but my boat was tied to the shore and didn't move! What is the reason?
So using the second (rear) point-1 is a more accurate gps reading than the internal gps on the unit? I’ve never seen this before so I’m setting here questioning why dual point-1. Thank for sharing.
yes u are marking within a 1ft of the transducer of what you are seeing, if you are a weekend fisherman 1 will be fine this is more for the tournament angler
I got a new Ranger and the factory already installed point-1 on bow. I have 2 HDS Lives, one on bow and ine on console. Should setup be: both units global for heading; comsole unit on This Unit for GPS; bow unit on local Poimt-1 for GPS location?
I ran across an issue the other day with two HDS LIVE units connected to a NMEA 2000 network with a conected Point-1 and the Calibration process did not work from the Console mounted HDS LIVE. The Heading, Pitch & Roll options did not show up from the Console HDS either. I did not think to try the Calibration process from the Bow mounted HDS. Both units had the latest software update. When I tried to initiate the Calibration process from the Console HDS, the rate of turn that you would normally observe just stayed at 000 and I never got a "Calibration Complete" message. Have you ever encountered this?
I see you have multiple units. Probably 3d module and all of the trimmings....looks like they draw a whole bunch of juice. What batteries do you use? Brand, How many, Group size, type? Thx.
Amazing information Paul and well presented. I would have been lost without this tutorial. Can't thank you enough.

Thanks for the help! Just switched from humminbird to lowrance and it’s a whole different ballgame with the set up.
