@@SizzlingSquiggleyeah but what’s the point? On the 50cc gy6 the kickstart assembly sits inside the cover and not the engine wall like the 125cc or 150cc gy6 so when you take the cover off the kickstart assembly comes with it. No need to remove the kickstart.
With the new belt it started to bog down. I'm guessing it's a higher performance belt like a Gates PowerLink. What weight rollers did you eventually go to?
It's possible your new belt is a slightly different length or width than your old belt. If the belt is slightly shorter, or wider, it could ride lower on the pulleys causing you not to get your lowest gear ratio. Try running the engine with the cover off to see if the belt has it's full range of motion up and down the pulleys. You might need to try a different length of belt. If the belt length is correct, try swapping out the rollers. I ended up with 5 gram rollers. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/zIBj82RFVpY/видео.html
you should have pointed out that the washer you put in is very important as if you fail to install the washer then the nut will keep vibrating off and the entire variator will slide off when you have your girlfriend way out in some secluded area.
Hi i just changed my belt on my Aprilia scarabeo and it to was making a noise, i figure it was because i did not put the last variator place over the teeth correctly, anyway i have taken it back apart and the new belt has a bit of fray on the edge and the variator is a bit wobbly, so confirmed that i did not put it on the teeth right, i do wear glasses but i think maybe my issue was that when i changed the belt i put that on last. i noticed that in this video you did not take the belt off all the way. would you advise that i put the variator parts on first before the belt ???
Yes. Aftermarket variators have a bigger gear range, so they can give you better acceleration and a higher top speed. If you're willing to spend about $220, you can get a complete transmission kit. They've already figured out the best variator, rollers, and clutch combination.
If both your wheels don't turn, you need to find out why. You could have seized wheel bearings from the scooter sitting outside getting rusty, or maybe your brakes are stuck.
It's So easy to understand , Steps you show it's easy I wish there was someone who would explain things like that on a 125cc bike
Some of, if not THE best, QMB139/GY6 videos on the internet. Thank you!
Add some variator shims and get your belt up higher and watch your takeoff improve like crazy!
Thanks so much! I'm about to try this- I'll letcha know :). Crazy this was 5 years ago! You da man. Appreciatecha!

If you leave the kick start lever in place you'll save yourself that much work.
Kick only takes a second to remove though

you for got to replace the clutch springs to yellow ones for thos heavy rollers.

I was wondering you think you can put gy6 long case 788mm variator kit into a gy6 long case with a 729mm and replace it
never put grease there. It will go to the belt.
Could you put a little directly on the crankshaft first. right near the engine?
Keep it as dry as possible
@@jvoytovichIf you don’t already find grease somewhere when you first open it up it probably doesn’t need it.
Hello. I see you as a scooter expert and I trust you. What do you recommend I change to convert a 50cc scooter to 80cc
Isn’t the stock size belt for the 50cc gy6 669 18 30?
Your best bet is to shim the rear u got a half inch of usable pulley for take off
Shim the rear of the ramp plate ? Bill
Why did you not put the belt on the front then tighten the variator? That was weird mad scientist
How can I know the size of my belt if its weared off
Why remove the kick start lever
You need to
Dumb question but 5k miles or kilometers?
It depends on the quality of your scooter. A belt on a Chinese scooter is very close to breaking at 5K miles. A belt on a Honda can go 15K miles.
I need the same belt but cant get one in the uk. Could i use 729 18 30 instead of 723 18 30 cheers.
If your stock size is 723, a 729 belt will be too short. You may not be able to hit all your gear ratios.
Can we replace the front variator with the bigger size ? What will ve the results ?

Yes,but you must remove the bendix and use ths lewer only.
Great video! Thank you very much!
How did you start it without the starter bendix
Magic. I used the kick start, then pulled off the cover while it was running. I don't recommend doing that, but I needed video of the belt working.
In Poland we use the drill.
What if both of my wheels have stopped turning altogether?
If both your wheels don't turn, you need to find out why. You could have seized wheel bearings from the scooter sitting outside getting rusty, or maybe your brakes are stuck.
@@LabCoatPaul It turns out that my belt blew as well as my clutch and my carb was fucked as well haha. Thank you for your help though!
I LIKE TO USE "VMC" CHINESE PARTS COMPANY ONLINE, FAST SERVICE. THANKS PAUL FOR THE VIDEO! 🇺🇲✌️👍
How much would a scooter shop charge to do this job ?

What is the tool you used to hold the clutch bell while loosening that nut?
Strap wrench. It's for oil filters usually. You can get one at an auto parts store.
@@LabCoatPaul Danke!
IT'S A STRAP WRENCH. AVAILABLE AT ANY CAR PARTS STORE OR HARBOR FREIGHT STORE.
It's possible your ramp plate plastic slide clips fell apart and the metal contact caved in your movable pulley roller slots! Bill
Super helpful info thanks!
Great help thank you
You don't need a gasket; GOLD...
Thanks :)
My fucken belt turned sideways (like you bent it inside out) and burned out and broke. Like wtf, another 12euros in the bin...
Make everything so complicated
This is a dry variator.Grease?Never do it again.
My kit? Buddy, you done it all wrong.
