Thiksay Monastery is located 19 kilometers from Leh, the capital town of Ladakh. It is situated on a hillock overlooking the Indus Valley with a full view of the magnificent Stok range. The monastery has Buddhist art such as stupas, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and swords. It contains a 15 meters high statue of Maitreya (Future Buddha), the largest statue in Ladakh.
