    When you rebuild it you will have to fit the steering rack to the body first and then mount the subframe. Don't forget that the driveshafts go in AFTER you fit the engine as the inner 'Pot Joints' that go into the final drive won't fit through the subframe apertures and in any case need to be clicked into place in the gearbox when it is rebuilt. Leave the filling with grease until you fit the driveshafts.
    You have done well for a first time on a Mini. I hope my earlier comments helped even if they were 'after the event'! Duly subscribed.

    Bless him.......put oil on the threads,loosen,tighten loosen tighten and work the shocker nuts off that way....SUPPORT the subframe acrossways with a length of wood first.MAKE SURE THE CAR IS LEVEL.

    There are four bottom bolts holding the rear subframe onto the HEEL BOARDS which are integral with the body.They screw into captive nuts on the bodywork,YOU CANNOT ACCESS THOSE CAPTIVE NUTS.Clean the bolts that are just in front of the trailing arm hinge,spray with fluid,leave overnight then LOOSEN THEM A BIT IT A TIME, loosen,tighten loosen tighten keep adding lubricant.They are prone to snapping try to AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS.

    Has the mini been in for acid dipping yet, how did it get on. Looking forward to the next update.

      Dont know if anyone cares but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest movies on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last few months :)

    THE body work is severely corroded,so bad in fact that I would have scrapped the shell,and if the owner was still desperate to keep the mini (why?) use a new Heritage shell and rebuild the car.That would cost a lot more than it was worth though.

    I must admit...never replaced a front subframe now its interesting.But the more I see of the bodywork the more I think the job is not worth doing.New Heritage shell, new rear subframe,respray then rebuild........cost? around ten grand.....you cant sell the car for that.ITS just a Mayfair pretending to be a Cooper,it has not even had a stage one kit fitted,and its a single point injected model,the later twin points give the original Cooper perfomance. Furthermore what mileage has the engine done?After all the only reason we all want a Mini is to enjoy the handling and performance,.A new engine will cost 4 to 5 grand.MED fast road..stage two tuned.......FUN.

    The front rear subframe mounts are upside-down.
