Silicone vs. No Silicone

- This was an experiment in cells with silicone vs. no silicone. The cells came out much bigger with the silicone :)
Materials used:
Artist's Loft Flow Acrylics
Floetrol
Water
Spot On Treadmill Silicone
Mixing ratio is 2/3 floetrol with 1/3 paint with a little water. The one on the right has about 6 drops of silicone.

Man I regret saying the Floetrol one looks "boring" lol. I love them both! And I do understand that some people don't care for cells, personally I love them and find them fascinating!
I did this in school today and it was really fun
Ps. Great video 🙂
Could you please tell what did u put in the silicone one and how much proportion
I was thinking I love that one!
Left one is better
Like both but for me loving the silicone. The extra drops of silicone worked out great
☮️🙏💜
It’s cool how the non silicone one looked like a galaxy and the silicone one reminded me of an abstract asteroid belt
Hayley Marse yes! Like they are part of the same universe
yess i was thinking that
I'm like number 666 wow I'm so proud of myself
So you drop the silicone just once or else we can mix silicone to each of the paints in the cup?
I love your artistic eye 😋
Is it weird that I like the one WITHOUT silicone better?
Nope
Me too
same
No Adrianna, it is not weird what so ever, Art is Art and we are all individuals that are attracted to a certain composition, it's what ever reaches out to you, as an artist myself I've noticed that some work I put aside thinking I will paint over it, my clients want to buy so go figure :) I think it's great that you are able to express how it made you feel :)
No, I really do too
First is like galaxy and calm, but second is like pollution
YESSSS XD
Facts
Yes.
She left the 2nd one longer to mix inside the inverted cup.
No it looks like colorful rain and bubbles
I like the one without the silicone and like it even more when you didn't torch it! It looked like a beautiful cosmic galaxy. One person's mistake is another's masterpiece. :)
Vicky B honestly same, the one without silicone looked so surreal
Yea I like it before she torched it
Happy accidents
- Bob Ross
same 😩
100% agree!!!!
I like the one without the silicone in it. Reminds me of a galaxy
SAMEEE
Same ❣️
When i looked at the second one i kinda got a sick feeling I don't know why though
I want to like but I don't want to ruin the 600 likes.
The none silicon one is so beautiful. Peaceful and calm looks like a galaxy
The second one is just crazy I wouldn't look at it twice cause it gave me a headache
Nice experiment
angela peyton I totally agree!!
Same
You not lying lolz my eyes keep going straight back to the first one, but it's not like the second one is ugly but the first one is more pleasing to me.
My thoughts exactly the non silicone one is way more pleasing. It really does remind me of a galaxy. The second one is interesting but hurts to look at.
They look connected
Love the first one. It looks like the tiny cells are stars and the rest is the Galaxy. I've watched this again and I liked it before it was torched but still like it better than the second one.
+Kateri Burnett thank you!
I think so too!!
Me too. I preferred the first one even before she torched it. Nice galaxy painting.
Kateri Burnett exactly what I thought, too!
Thought the same thing and also agree with you on the first one! I like that one better
Left= Galaxy type stuff
Right= something you see under a microscope type stuff
Or Macro, and micro.
But they look to be part of the same picture too, it's awesome
Outer space and inner space.
Here because of Jenna.
Yes!!!
literally after watching her video i’m getting recommended acrylic paint videos
SAME
Same
Hahahaha me too!!
love the non-silicone one. I think it looks cosmic and it is a simpler composition. The other one is cool too but definitely feels like i'm inside a microscope and I'm pulled in different directions. Sometimes simplicity is better. Keep up the cool videos!
+Camille thank you!
ME TOO
Camille Yes me too and it looks like Stanger Things and I love that

The right side of the first piece basically fades off into the beginning of the second. Regardless of their different moods, they still fit so beautifully side-by-side.
That’s what I kept seeing, I kinda love it
That's exactly what I was thinking!!
Qűęęń ÐMÇ awesome observation!!
That was my 1st thought, put them together as two halves of One destination! Exact Perfection of organised chaos! Fab! 💫✨💥
Qűęęń ÐMÇ I noticed that too
I like the one that you think is "boring" lol they are both beautiful though
+Tarryn lol thanks :)
I agree. I was just thinking that the non-silicone one was my favorite when she said boring and I was like “oh...”. They’re both beautiful but I like the blending of the non-silicone one more than the huge, vibrant cells of the silicone one.
Pour painters should do a variety, especially if they are selling, because it seems that a lot of us, including me, really like the non-silicone one.
+Rain Thalmann I agree!
Rain Thalmann I mostly do non silicone
i prefer the silicone one
I prefer the non silicone one too
I liked the left one actually. It's not as busy and not as loud. I guess it depends on your mood and setting. Both are beautiful though.
Love them both, put together it actually look like one painting from calm part of the galaxy to a crazier part 🤔😍😍
I was thinking of that too
You: it's a little boring, to be honest
Me, whispers: ..it's perfect....
@Just_AutumnYT wow seeing you again.... do you stalk the same videos that i watch too xD
Same
I happen to like the non-silicone one better too.
I liked it better as well.
The one with silicone looked absolutely gorgeous to me, reminded me of geodes and rocks.
I also thought it look like geodes! It's so pretty with different levels of complexity and it's so unique!
@@XCIX9 yup!
Yess!
Oooooo it does! Thanks for pointing it out!
I love it too for me it was like beautiful rain
Outer space vs. outer space through a rainy window
+Amanda Richards l'll I like that :)
Outer space on quaaludes 😂
Outer space while floating vs outer space in the middle of an asteroid shower
Outer space vs. Outer space on steroids
LunaMoona 0129 aSTEROIDS lmao
I think with this color scheme, the non-silicone side looks better, but in general I prefer pours with silicone.
The first one is absolutely beautiful, reminds me of a galaxy
Not boring. I love how it looks spacey with stars.
+Bernadette Groves thanks!
I actually prefer the one without silicone, but they are both wonderful!
+Roberta's Artistic Adventures thank you!
Yeah me too it´s like view into a space.
Ikr!!!
Roberta's Artistic Adventures i prefer that one too
Same 🙂
Does anyone else think the canvases look like one whole piece that goes together? On the one with no silicone, the yellow on the bottom looks like it carries to the one with silicone, like t flows into this one whole organic shape
I agree!
Omg thanks for actually reading my comment- im currently binge watching your videos 😱
Yes indeed
I like how it looks connected, from one to the other.
The one on the left was tranquil, and until she torched it, looked like a beautiful nebula.
The one with the silicone looks like someone threw up on the canvas.
Everyone seems so offended that she called it "boring" 😂😂
They're both nice :)
The non silicon one is so pretty, it’s like a galaxy ❤️💙💜, I think it’s so perfect. don’t like the other one that much the cells are too crazy for me and the colors and mixed together a little too much in my opinion. Love them both tho, the non silicone is my favorite
Mixed together! That's what I was trying to get out. It is all too blended together and you can't really see the various colors that look really awesome.
I think they're very pretty side by side just says they are as if they were two halves of a whole painting. Imagine them if you slid the two together.
+Claire Hart I agree :)
Me too!
Claire Hart I was just thinking that these two belong together!!!😆
omg you're right! havent noticed how good they look together actually
I love how the one completes the other, they're like they're flowing to eachother
Both of them are beautiful for different reasons and it’s a cool showcase of how silicone affects the paint
I like the “boring” one better, actually.
I like it too :)
I do to!!
Mandy Roy so do I lol
Me too.
Hey I'm glad I decided to read through some comments to see what others thought, because sometimes I doubt my artwork😔 but I have to keep telling myself that everyone likes different things!! Oh and Hey!!! I was the 418th person to like your comment and it's 4/18 today!! What a weird coincidence and oddly inspiring for me to keep on moving😆😆
Both are absolutely beautiful. Neither is boring, both are so captivating!! The non-silicone one looks like a galaxy 🌌
Both very beautiful, and should be kept together, like siblings. Very interesting to see you experimenting. If I might make a suggestion.... see if you can find a bubble level, so you can get your grates level. Well, that is, unless you have made them off level on purpose. Time well and enjoyably spent.
Agree, the one on the right looks like a continuation of the one on the left
Thank you for showing the difference between the two. It helps beginners a lot!
You need a non silicone one for the right now that is the same as the left
I think it’s cool viewing them together as a diptych and seeing how they transform into each other from left to right and right to left.
Awesome, it is great to have someone explain with showing how it is done! Especially the with or without silicone. Thank-you!
It would be fun to see half the canvas with non silicone AND a second cup of silicone on the other half
+Jasmine Cherie totally! Adding it to the list :)
Mixed Media Girl did you ever do this?
Yasssss
Yes!
basically she did. all that she needed to do push the two together
I like how the silicone one has so much depth to it, it looks like you can just reach into the painting
I love both of them and how unique they are. I love these type of paintings, so gorgeous.
I also like coming to like this and the comments actually being about the video.
Thank you for the comparable... I’m approaching my first pour. The Artists that are sharing their art via RUclips make joining the group of adventurous artists exciting, inviting and easily informed. I appreciate you, your time, effort and willingness to share. ~Sheeara, Alaska 🥰
If you slid them both together it would almost look like one single continuous piece
I really like that first one before you torched it. It looks like a futuristic Landscape.
+Lynn Early thanks
Mixed Media Girl For the one on the left, how do you get the air bubbles out without creating cells ?
I understand why you would say boring, because again as you can see in the comments everyone thinks of it the same and it reminds everyone of the same thing. Its beauty is in a more simple style than the other one, the other one with silicone has much more details with the cells and colors mixed everywhere. It punches you in the face with visuals which is always good. Nonetheless, however, they are both very beautiful!!
Oof that’s very well said
Being punched in the face with visuals is not always good. Some people would find it too busy and not calming enough to look at. lol
Very interesting I was amazed that the silicone side gave such large cells which really added character to the painting. Thanks for sharing and experimenting.
These look great as a diptych! The yellow transitions from one to the other and go well with each other.
I prefer the one without silicone....looks like little stars.
tunis mcguigan I like it too :)
tunis mcguigan if
me too
Those two pours you can display them as a pair in the same position of the video and they look lovely together
Lourdes Gorbea I agree :) thanks for watching!
Was going to post the same thing
I love how those 2 paintings look together, its like they complement each other💜💜💜
I love that the paint is so shinny I can see your reflection in it
I like the one without silicone more. The smaller cells look like stars, making the entire painting look like a galaxy!
I like the one with the silicone. The cells are really interesting. As you did, I too find the one without a bit boring
I like the non-silicone painting. It reminds me of a deep space cosmic picture. Something taken by the Hubble telescope.
I really like the one without silicone.
+Lit123ful thanks!
I liked them both. The one on the left: no silicone looked like a Mars landscape. The right W/silicone looked like it had some eyeballs floating around: "Eye of the Storm." TYFS
thanks for showing this silicone v no silicone you can really see the difference :)
I actually really like the one with no silicone! It reminds me of a space scene!
+Cynthia Price thanks!
I love these, they’re like mini galaxies on a canvas. Beautiful work. Well done
The non silicone one is amazing 😍😍😍 I might try this too just for fun ♥♥♥
When some one pouring out paint from a cup creates a better piece of art than me taking 3 hours to paint a god damn tree that ends up looking like a blob
I felt this in my soul
I love the larger cells and variety of the silicone cells side!
They both look amazing. I feel like if you did another no silicone and placeit on the right of the silicone it would make a great 3 piece on the wall.
+Felicia Klee thanks!
I don't find the non silicone one boring at all! It looks like a really awesome galaxy! I love it!
I don’t actually plan on doing this. I’m just here to relax and watch the paint spread
Same

All of the cells in the right one are so cool
No one:
RUclips algorithm: ADD ANOTHER CUP PAINTING VIDEO
Love them both!
+Linda L Miller thank you!
Have you tried rubbing alcohol instead of silicone? It is a matter of taste definitely. I prefer the one without the silicone.
+Colleen Barber not yet but it's on my list of experiments to do :) thank you for watching :)
i love watching these kind of videos! they are so educational! Thank you so much for sharing them.
Acrylic Art Paintings you're welcome! Thank you for watching :)
I really learn and like your videos, no one is explaining everything so well, thank you for your generosity to say all the secrets!
This was sooo helpful! I just tried acrylic pouring for the first time today without silicone and got really happy when cells still showed up, then I was doing research and this helped tons! I also I have to say that your voice is very soothing and goes perfect with this relaxing art and it really calms anxiety, so thank you!!
I realize this is almost a year ago. Funny, I like the no silicone one much better ! Ha Thanks for the comparison !! They're both very pretty ! 💖
I like them both but the one without silicone is my favorite. It looks more soft and flowy. 😍
I love your experiments. Your videos are very captivating. Both paintings turned out really good. The no silicone painting looks more spacey and airy, telescopic, the other one looks more liquidy, inside something, more microscopic. Does that make sense?
Condee Rogers lol yes, makes sense :) thank you! Your comments make my day :)
My sentiments exactly. And if you look at the green/yellowy band, it almost seems continuous across both canvases. They're a great "bookend" pair.
Sheryll Martin artist's loft flow acrylics
U.
I like them both just different feels to them
They belong together. And in that order. Order and chaos. The second painting on the right continues the first on the left. Great effects.
Oh my I love the galaxy one, ☝🏼so calming.
Super information on how the silicone does its thing... great to actually see!
+Jennifer WhiteWolf thank you!
It's so simple but so beautiful
With silicone have more action and details but with out silicone come out more beautiful
Thank you, ma'am. Both of the pours are beautiful.
I love the ”no silicone” one! It looks like galaxy. Love it!
The one without silicone looks like a star or galaxy fog
When you set them side by side it looked like the picture continued from one frame to the next that’s so cool
+BabyGurll thanks :)
The first one reminds me of a galaxy, whilst the second one reminds me of 80s pop and kaleidoscopes
Both paintings look amazing. They look like they could be one big piece!
That's crazy they look like they go together like it's a person walking from one canvas to the other. With a shadow and everything!
Thanks for this video! I haven't tried this yet but have watched lots of videos. Some said use silicone and some said not to use it. Now I can see for myself!
Love the non-sillicone one.
I don't have the cell fetish a lot of people seem to have. I use a mixture of 50% acrylic paint, 25% PVA glue, and 25% water, and I quite like the effects I get. No silicone, no Floetrol. Just paint, glue, and water.
I'm gonna have to try that myself I'm running low on flowtrol and thought I was gonna have to take a break till I could get more
You won't get the kind of lacing and cells you'd get with Floetrol, but it works just fine.
I’ve watched so many videos and I’ve yet to hear why some people use water! Everything I have read is that water takes away from the color and that Floetrol does not.
They are both incredibly pretty.
They both beautifully complements each each!😍
Left: Nice, calm nebula
Right: FRIGGIN PETRI DISH FROM THE PRINTER
Here because off Jenna's video! Such a relaxing corner of RUclips!
Thank you for your art ❤️
That both look amazing 😉
Thank you for doing this side by side, It’s nice the see the comparison.
I surprisingly love the siliconeless one. It looks like a galaxy scene. So pretty.
These videos are so fun to watch! Love the random results!
LOVE the first one!!
I like how the one on the left looks. It reminds me of a galaxy piece.
Woah, first time I have ever seen art like this. This is absolutely beautiful!
+anna a thank you!
Discovered this type of art last week. Others I have seen use silicone add it to the colour and give it a mix, not as you have done and added to the pouring jug/container. Your way gives bigger cells. I hope to give it a go within the next week. Need to get supplies in.
I think they look amazing side-by-side together as a set! The one on the right is very busy and chaotic in a beautiful way and it looks like the colours are sliding into the canvas on the left where there is lots of calmness. I think they make a great match artistically speaking! 😻🙀👏👍👌
