    I've said it once and I'll say it as many times as it takes. Kingkiller Chronicles doesn't need a live action adaptation, it needs to be animated and this is just prove! Excellent work!

      @prinstyrio0 5 лет назад +191

      For sure, when I read through it all I could picture was more animated style of figures and characters, it has some quirky ones that just wouldn't work with live actors or scenes. Not to mention that Kvothe feels way more like an anime protagonist even, and that's not saying it like an insult, he still has more depth than most others.

      It would just need to be handled with such delicate care... There's so much nuance to these books and the writing is so gorgeous, none of that can be lost. I just don't know if I could handle another of my favorite series being butchered... I'm looking at you Eragon.

    Okay... I saw this video when it came out several months ago. Thought it was awesome and since I didn't understand the context, I moved on. A week ago, I started reading The Name of the Wind, and didn't put it together until I got to this part in the book and was like "Hold up... I've "seen" this before"!! A quick RUclips search later, and I'm a subscriber! This is dope AF!! Awesome work... again!!

    Wow. Love how the camera angle, sound, music etc lends gravitas to the scene. In the books we know why 'The Breaking of the Lute' is a big deal through context and theme, but here, out of context and without 1k pages to back us up, the lute hitting the cobble stones still feels like heartbreak. “my lute, my tangible soul”. Indeed.

      @@abluetale1016 at this point in the books, it is said that kvothe's case is an old, badly put together one, just like his lute. kvothe has to fill it up with cloth and shit to keep his instrument from being damaged all the time, and only one of the locks was intact, another had been changed, and at some moint he enven used string to keep it shut

    • @foghammer9767
      @foghammer9767 2 года назад

      I just listened to the first audiobook a few weeks ago and am almost finished with the second, and for some reason, I envisioned his lute case as a coffin shape anyway, but I'm not sure why... Bent lamination in woodworking wouldn't be impossible in the setting Rothfuss created, but it would be impractical for something like an instrument case, especially in a world where people will carry lots of boxish containers on long trips. Shapes with edges can be controlled more easily, tied down more firmly, and are less prone to slipping out of lashings.

      I could only read the first one. It was a really good idea, but was I the only one that absolutely hated Denna? Like, she just appeared randomly and didn’t even act like a real person. Not to mention at the end of the book I was just done with it. It never made any advances towards the main plot and even at the ONE point that it could advance, DENNA JUST APPEARS FOR NO REASON. Why her!? The coincidence is just too fake. The beginning of the book (aside from the weird fetish the author has of getting Kvothe beat up) was good, compelling, and the magic is the best of any I’ve read, but it’s just bad from when Denna comes in. I failed to read the second because reviews, that I agree with, marked it as awful. Anyways, this animation was well made so good job man.

    I just stumbled across this video again after a few years. What I still find interesting is that the scenes in fanart etc. look so similar to each other. The scene you animated does look so similar in my head. Crazy how well Patrick Rothfuss did describe characters and environments. Really like like the video and am glad that I found my way back here.

    2:57 i dont know what i like so much about this scene in general maybe its just the zoom and im overthinking but anyways i have to say that, just that zoom show his confusion so good that im actually impress.

      it also adds to this feeling hearing the sprung note sounding when "inside" his head.
      readers will remember how Elodin investigated and calmed this very confusion, adding even more.

    Hey man, this was really great. The stylistic choice of keeping it simple and making it all about the dialogue and sounds and just the most important visual effects works perfectly for the type of book. The only thing I would change if you were to continue this, cast more voice actors for the different characters ;)

    This looks great! Makes me want an adaptation of the series to animation. I have the feeling movies or a tv series like GoT might not do it as much justice as something on the lines of Avatar The Last Airbender could.
    Hope to see more like this!

      I think that's intentional. The only times I noticed it was Sim's voice fading out near the beginning, which probably happens because Kvothe focuses on the fountain, and Kvothe actually calling the wind, which would make sense to keep illegible and mysterious.
