- The DHC-2 Beaver / Island Wings is a great flying RC model that also has some unique history to it. Michelle Madsen started the company Island Wings in 1993 and has been giving aerial tours of Alaska with her airplane for many years now. Candy and I had great fun with this airplane and hope you enjoy the review of it.
You can purchase this model online from Tower Hobbies at the following link.

This plane is so beautiful, it's always a pleasure to see it in action!
I'm glad to see back in the air with your wife! Happy weekend and have fun
Been enjoying your reviews for some time now. I have to say, you have a perfect mix of providing information about the model and flying the model. You seem to be a natural for what you are doing. Thanks for putting in the time for us.

That Beaver looks great with the floats on it. Good filming and editing as usual.
Beautiful plane and great flying. We just crashed ours into the river today. But the bird survived to see another day. Thanks for posting and greetings from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
I think this is a great plane. I work for Michelle. I am her dock hand and bear guide. I have spent many hours in the lady Ester.
Fantastic!
Akbearguide 85 Are you still doing that? My friend and his wife went up in the Lady Ester last year. I showed him my RC plane and he ran into the house and got the pictures he took of the plane. She sent him a Christmas card this past december showing the plane. The plane I have has been highly detailed with hand and foot rails and additional wing landing light. Additional antenna on the body. Peto tubes, a custom bent exaust pipe. I plan on painting the bottom of the pontoons to match the real plane. Mine has only been flown twice and became a ceiling hanger.
If you want pictures ,I would be happt to send you a few. I think you would like them. I can even send one with my friend and his wife standing next to the plane.
I ordered the 3 blade prop and spinner.
I bet you have some great storys to tell.
That is a great looking plane, and big. Great video
Thanks Eric and Candy!!!😃
Awesome filming work candy!
Classy bird - nice flying and filming as always
My friend has been in that plane! He went nuts when I just got this one and showed it to him. He was really hooked on this plane. His wife wants to get him one for Christmas but wants me to set it up a a static display only plane. I will set it up with the lights and remove the motor for a toy grade motor that will spin a 3 blade prop and spinner. possibly a sound box also. He would only want to hang it, but not fly it. Mine has already been detailed by the previous owner including foot holds. I want to add scale canoes for eather side and lash them down. I am also adding the grab ropes that normally hang down on eather wing making it easier to get on and off the pontoons and bring the plane up to the dock. I would add quick disconnects because as cool as they look, I could see them chaff the wings as the plane flew.
Beautiful plane and great review.
Hey Eric! Great review bud. The Beaver looks like a great planker and lots of fun on the water. Thanks for sharing and happy RCing friend.
Good job Candy--nice video. Glad to see some flying reviews.
Cheers mates,
John
Great video..... I'm ordering the Island Wings Beaver tonight...... background music sounds like my old college buddies band "Widespread Panic"
+SouthernPrinceKenny Very boring plane..... doesn't do anything but normal boring full scale flying. Mine out of the box requires 90% left aileron trim just to fly level. Getting out of rc and going into hang gliding... selling nearly everything tons of NIB planes and gear
nice. i almost bought this plane last month.
I really enjoy watching you two have fun while reviewing model airplanes. Like most float plane pilots I have both color flyzone Beavers. I think with each plane they improve on the quality and just the color is an improvement alone! + Tundra Tires!!!
Tundra tires!!
Good job recording Candy. ;-)
3rd plane, looking forward to it for xmas!
I would hesitate to fly in that much wind. It did well though. You too !
Looked quite scale. 7 minutes on an 1800 is darn good.
You 2 do great videos. I bought this plane in the original orange version and still have not got up the guts to fly it. I can fly on the simulator but I do have a hard time bringing it back to myself but I've only used the hobby shop sim. If I had one at home I would master it I'm sure. What should I do to know I'm ready for this plane???
Nice!
Hi I was wondering if it would take a 4S LiPo? Looking at purchasing the plane soon.
Thanks,
nice review eric,it was nice before. i do like this paint scheme better though.
How do you get the flaps to work with the 650 tactic transmitter and do you use negative expo or positive expo to more forgiving stick controls?
Am a little late to respond, but its a valid question;
JR and Spektrum for more forgiving flying is Positive
Futaba is negative
*start at about 25 to 30% expo
It seems to have a thin rudder. Is it weak in person?
Nice
mine had deformed landing gear and a broken rudder, wing, float, and snapped propeller now explain that to me!
Why not one with a fueled-engine instead of electric?
cool I have the model
A FB friend says it stalls easy. Is that true?
I'm going to change all given screws to robertsons. Hate the screws they give with the model.

I like Candy better then the airplane.
Something about a flying beaver makes me laugh. Not everyone wants to tackle this one.
Let's not say "review" 50 times. We know it's a review. corny, cheezy presentation. Notice on your take off you didn't rudder for the torque. Oh well. It's a great plane.
Ron Smith. I’m sure others would disagree.
