just got a 335i and I love your videos so much, they’re incredibly helpful and show how stuff can be done from the average DIYer perspective unlike some with fancy specific tools or jacks. Your videos are criminally underrated and deserve so much more views.
I have to say you are right about these videos being underrated. No names but there’s a couple BMW guys that get more views but one of them isn’t even all BMW anymore. Plus both the other guys try to make it seem complicated to work on your BMW. It is not. I’m 57 and I have been doing my own mechanic work since I was 15. BMW’s are the easiest car I have ever worked on. Even dropping the subframe is easy peazy.
One more thing I would say to check out, although not necessary maintenance item is a stock turbo rebuilt kit, many of the kits have upgraded wastegates to eliminate rattle as well as better seals, which is very good for tuned cars.
Man!! This project is going to be sweet!! Great content!! Totally love the projects to come!! Dunno where you are but I’m in central Florida and I’m new to Florida but I’m definitely a fan!! My e39 wagon and e92 are going to be benefiting from this!! Wrench on bro!
I know that this may be a little bit late to chime in, but when you service the transmission you should replace the mechatronics sleeves and the seal for the transmission where the wiring harness plugs in. The mechatronics may look scary but it's actually really simple. When the sleeves start to get brittle and stop sealing so well the trans will start to slip because the solenoids aren't getting the right pressure. 9 times out of 10 if the trans fluid isn't low and it starts to slip it's because those sleeves are starting to fail.
Thanks for the video helped a lot. I want to get to the 335i platform but There is no way im spending 600$ of labor for a 20$ valve cover gasket. I understand for the oilpan gasket but is it hard to do everything apart from the oil pan gasket at home with not a lot of knowledge in mecanics?
Does it take 3-5 Bmw 328i cars in total service maintenance hours to equal 1 BMW 335i service ? Such a money pit , doing diy isn’t much better either, as it takes hours always from life we could be enjoying with family…. I salute you all 335i owners or any other direct injected turbo engine owners 😅.. for your dedication.
Thanks for this helpful info, just found this video and i hate that i gotta do it but I'm the 421st like i wanted it to stay at 420 lol but i gotta show the support!
Hello Chris, I really like your Channel. I Just get one 2007 535xi. leaking all over, alternator not working, oil in in expansion tank. I am planning to fix it step by step. Can you walk me along? can you give me a list of part that I need and where to order?
Your time sounds wrong for the rocker cover gasket! If your doing a walnut blast sorting out BMW's pvc system will stop you having to do it again. What about coils and Injectors?
No, rod bearings aren't a common failure point on these engines. The most important things are going to be cooling system and gasket related. Save your money from rod bearings and get some upgraded turbos instead! Those fail commonly. Congrats on the new purchase! Stay tuned for more N54 content coming to our channel very soon ;)
This will sound weird, but is it normal for it to sound like it has a slight knock? I know how dumb that sounds, but every video I see of an N55, They sound like they have a knock to me, But they all seem to be "fine"
I will eventually m5 swap it but depending on garage space when I get the chance I will either do the S65 e39 or e60 v10? Have also thought about a v12 or a built n54. All dreams I was just curious.
@@TheBimmerBarn Well if that doesn’t work out for you and I finally get settled I will be looking for a good rust free wagon to do the swap! For now you doing great with the you tube channel! Keep up the great work!

I left those for him to do since they're easily changed from the top, meanwhile I about killed myself with the oil pan, turbos, and seals 😅 Hopefully his index 10 injectors hold out for a while
@@TheBimmerBarn I don't know who I am to have talked about injectors as I'm still running index 9's. I was going to say though that these costs are probably even higher for an "XI" model. I just did all the maintenance on my new to me "XI" model which included coils and some other fixes like a Wheel Bearing and the HPFP. In reality the parts for these cars aren't expensive in comparison to any other cars parts. But now I'm about to do the turbos and the oil pan and on the "XI" it's STUPID because I'm not doing it myself as I have no lift. So After buying (My prices are Canadian or Chinadian as it is now (Not really funny but...) $1500CAD for the "0 to 60" tested Ebay 17T ebay specials (Includes inlets) and $3000 for an independent to do the work. Hello👋 Quick question. Might sound dumb but Is anyone able to get the “height, width and length” of the N54 with turbos. Height= from bottom of oil pan to top most point over valve cover, Width= from left most side of the engine to the right most side, Length= from flywheel to front most part near the belts, Also “height, width and length” of Transmission Any help would be greatly appreciated😁
@@whatthehector1 I think most brands make a Euro formula oil in that weight, but Liqui-moly and Motul both make great BMW approved oils in other weights for different climates/preferences. My 2010 335i has 72,000 miles. So I better start saving for all of this
Same with mine, with the difference that I already did most of the maintanance
Would also have added radiator and suspension stuff. Struts and shocks

Yes, any direct injection vehicle will have a loud clicking or knocking sound thanks to the fuel system
