Very informative video. I just wish that Coleman would charge a few more dollars for seam taping it's budget friendly tents, instead of racing to the bottom or the price barrel. Coleman used to put out pretty good products. Some people in my FB tent camping group would say how well their old Coleman tents have lasted, which unfortunately seem to be no longer the case, at least for their lower cost models. Keep up the good work.

I totally agree too, I know a lot of folks who don't want to have to seam tape their own tents, which definitely isn't wrong. Were the old tents seam taped? (I suspect maybe they were, but I don't have any experience with them as I started only being able to afford tents just a few years ago.) What is your experience with other Coleman products, if you have any and if don't mind sharing? 😊
@@CampingGuidanceThanks for the reply and your kind words. I have never had a Coleman tent, but know people that do (bought recently). They are pretty happy with them. They put a tarp over the tents if there is a chance of rain, especially on the day they leave, so that they and the tent stay dry while packing up. I suppose the workmanship and/or quality of cheaper Coleman tents are hit-and-miss. Some people swear by them, while others swear at them.

And if I do find defects, Amazon usually helps me out pretty well haha. And yes a tarp is definitely a smart idea especially to stay dry while packing up! I've been advising people as well to use a tarp especially when they ask me about Coleman's unprotected screen rooms. Looks like Coleman now also makes variants of the skydome that feature a full fly vestibule that would solve the door leak problem entirely! It costs an extra $45USD ($160 instead of $115). There is also one with a weatherproof screenroom instead of the vestibule, which is $195. I am thinking of getting the one with the vestibule.

I hope to buy that one day and test it out, hopefully! 😊 I think it would solve the door leak problem as well, though I would still recommend sealing the seams just in case you get caught in crazy rain. Oooh I would love to hear your experience with the vestibule Skydome if you end up getting it! 😊

It means a lot that you like the videos 😊 And hmm my Carlsbad came with defective dark room technology, so I have no idea what a non-defective one looks like, but I suspect it should be similar to the Sundome. And unfortunately I don't have a dark room Skydome :( But I think most Coleman tents' dark room tech should be pretty similar, the non-mesh walls are usually dark room fabric, and so is the rainfly, so it should be pretty decent 😊 Hope this helps a little!
If you could get ahold of one, I'd really appreciate a comparison between the carlsbad and the blackout skydome with screen room. I know it's only a minor difference to the skydome you have but I'd be interested to see if the screen room covers actually stand up against the rain like is claimed
Hey Sarah! Thanks for the suggestion! 🥰 Do you mean the Skydome with the full rainfly? I'll see if I can get that next time. It looks like it'll be better, but so far I haven't been impressed with any Coleman tent in the rain.
Don’t know the measurement of the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent with Screen Room,looking at the 6person. But don’t know of the measurements online is include the 4x12screen room. Looking for the LxW of the actual sleeping tent area.
I think the screen room is just an extension of the tent, you could perhaps take the dimensions of the Skydome that I gave! I noticed also that all my Coleman tents came slightly smaller than what was marketed.
