Thats why games and developers suck these days. It's more about money than quality products now. Games went from 60 to 100+ dollars, they took away the cool colored manuals, give us less content, loot boxes, incomplete games at a premium price and now they want to do away with physical and go all digital. This generation is my last, i may not be buying the new systems. At least nintendo still gives us complete games and physical copies like they suppose to.

Blame the game developers who started this dlc bs. Ever since there is a possibily to patch games on consoles, developers has#ve seen an opportunity to release half ass games and charge extra for dlcs.
I don't think that's the issue for most of the gaming community...I love me some final fantasy and as a PC gamer I just played through FFXV with all the extras we got free for having to wait an extra year. Though I do like the game there are just so many mistakes made along the way. My feeling is that they tried to do too many things that it would be impossible to make it a complete game. Then they starte patching the holes. I love the fishing game but I don't need 100+ different kinds of em. Hunts are an easy way to make the player occupied but we don't need 100+ of them...etc. There are more fishes than weapons! 95% of all loot you get has no actual use. I keep picking up items in hope of getting something I can use but its just pieces of scrap metal. I keep checking all new weapon stores but they all sell the same old weapons. The story is good once you get to it but it's spread out so thin. Those are the issues, and it would take a complete remake to make it into a great game.

As someone who bought the original game day one this mostly just pisses me off there’s all kinds of content they eventually added that I missed because after platinuming the game and still finding missing storyline content I just don’t have the energy to go back they should have just released it complete to begin with

At 34.99 and the manager and another employee said the content was definitely there since corporate prices everything. The base game was right next to it at 15.99 so they said oh ya all the content has to be there. So I went home, which there and back is 25min of driving,with my God of War and FF15 royal. But wouldn't ya know the stupid dlc code was already used by the last player. Gamestop said they couldn't give me a new copy that's only a messily 5$ more and then didn't have anymore royals used. They made me call corporate. I had to get kinda loud with them explaining it's almost 30mins to drive there and back and I spend a lot at that store. That I didn't just want the game I paid for,but also credit for the gas and time I have to waste coming in there. It was a total mess. I finally got corporate to add 15,000points to my card so I could buy a giftcard with what was left. But jesus what a nightmare, all over a game i already beaten. Never played the 2 episodes, multiplayer, or that city ruins or bosses but I'm thinking I might just keep my money since Godnof War is smsximg and a large game. I'm sure

Next FF we hear about will be the 7 remake. Honestly if you're a first time buyer Royal Edition is a pretty good thing since you get a completed base game the first time around and now the rest of the DLC is actual extra stuff.

Seems like waiting for the PC version was the right choice. Pay way less (got all this for like 40 euros), get it at 60fps and get it in an actually finished state. Looking forward to try it, hope that the gameplay isn't as simplistic as it looks :3

Since I beat the core game, Ive been just playing other games and doing other shit waiting for all of the FF15 DLC to be released, packaged together, and discounted. As of 6/8/18 the Royal Pack DLC is currently on sale for $10.49 and I already know it’s gonna be money well spent.
This review convinced me to buy the Royal Edition; I'm glad I did. I skipped vanilla & managed to avoid all spoilers. The extra end bosses are AWESOME; more memorable than the final boss! I really liked the game a lot more than I expected. I would say its pretty much required to watch Kingsglaive & Brotherhood to get important story beats & character development (Like Insomnia and Lunafreya's whole backstory) which is a fault. Overall I like the direction FF is going minus the questionable business practices.
My brother got me the game as a late Christmas gift as soon as it came out (I have fond memories of it because I also got a puppy around the time who would cry if I didn't hold him while I played), but I never got the DLCs. Now the Royal Edition keeps going on sale and, to me, that's definitely worth it. If a friend ever asks if they should buy the standard game or the royal edition I'd definitely suggest the royal edition.

yeah I was going to play a new game+ on my ps4 after they COMPLETED the damn game. that's not happening. I was even going to resub my FFXIV account soon when I had more time coming up. that wont be happening anytime soon. so.. I been super addicted to the dark souls series and going through all of them now. seems I will be only buying dark souls games for now on. atleast is a game that focuses on game play. the best games i play recently was zero horizon dawn and dark souls/bloodborne and persona 5. all of these games have great dlc or none at all and give me what I want exactly a good theme and awesome gameplay with it. FFXV was a movie basically and not a game... the bonus dungeon had no enemies just puzzles and the tomes that had like 40-100 levels down were just a fucking chore. if you haven't bought it.. wait for a sale. the dlc.. ha! gladio was short and not worth the asking price, prompto was fan service and had a limited open world it was basically a typical FF style minigames DLC. ignus? ha... hahahaha wtf! might well forget everything played in the maingames.. because ignus doesn't line up unless you shell out the extra 15 USD to get finish the story.even with the "royal edition" it still doesn't seem to fill in all the pieces so expect more DLC. tbh no AAA games release with finished status anymore. You can just expect that. We only buy the games on their releases JUST for the sake of playing them on their releases so we can live the hype and discuss with other early birds. Customers that pay just to get the game fast and customers that pay for efficiencies ARE NOT the same group anyway. If you buy a game early then complain how it's not finished because DLCs then you are the problem. You chose to put yourself in the early group when you in fact are not that type of gamer. StaticShock42 please don't buy that game. It's literally the easiest game ever made. Mostfights all they take is two light attacks and u wipe enemies out in the world like nothing. I gave til I was lvl 25,emailed them,tweeted,Facebook messenger them to ask if difficulty setting would eventually be added. If so I would have kept the game,but I could never get a reply. Hellni even tried calling bando namcai. It's a joke of a game when everything else is so complex, awesome graphics and the magic is insanely beautiful. But I could never enjoy the complexities of the battle system. By far the easiest combat in a game I have ever played. I had to trade it cuz i felt no sense of reward or accomplishment, and no dopamine hit for winning battles. Isn't that the point of games? FF15 is easy on the hardest mode and no no kuni 2 was still 10x easier. Shame they could have had a game of the year contender Everyone is saying the same. Are the episodes of the other characters integrated in the main game or are they a option in the menu? That bothered me in the original Darksider 2 and with the Deathinitive Edition they added them quite well in the main game. I wish it would be in this game too
Let do the math: I pre-ordered FFXV Deluxe Editions with the price of $89.99 from Amazon, and because Amazon is not shipping available in my Country so i have to pay extra for Shipping fee. Made it cost total $110, which is insanely expensive. Then i brought the Season Pass with $25. And if i buy this DLC, it gonna be $150 in total, just wow when i see how much i'd spent for this game.
Cerberus was cool, the fight against the Rulers of Yore was awesome (although I thought we would have to fight all 13 so seeing it end after 3 was sad - but that was the fault of my own hype). Omega seems great (although I have some grinding to do until I can defeat it) - the attack patterns etc. are cool. I liked that Comrades/The Glaives were pulled into the story even though meeting your own Glaive wasn't done great for the Story - just drops in and back out for one fetch quest with no build up whatsoever. All they added were 3 quests to the expanded ruins all of which are awful - they are so mundane they actually ruin the tension of the last scene. I agree it should have been longer to allow us to see the scope of damage to Insomnia and see the worse the Starscourge has to offer but these quests... take some pictures, find some random items and destroy imperial bases... Its exactly 50/50 on everything - all the great tension and great cinematic are bogged down by the mundane quests. During this, the Glaives Noctis talks to and Noctis' replies all lose the serious emotions and go back to being playful like there is not a care in the world ... its chapter 14, not chapter 2!! Even the amazing scene with the wall (no spoilers) was amazing BUT... the scene with Ifrit and the summons now loses its impact which in my opinion was cooler than what happened the scene before so overall ends up feeling like a loss rather than a bonus.
Do all DLC are on the bluray disc or do we have to download it all? Does the BR have all new and old content or do we just get old game and some code to download everything you mentioned in that video?
So if I already beat the game, I have to start over if I want to see the new stuff in the royal pack? I ran around in Insomnia last night in my cleared save-file, but I couldn't find any new stuff :(
I just finished FFXV a few days ago, bought it cheap in the Christmas sales and finally got round to playing it. I liked it more than I thought I was going to, still not great though. Probably won't get this or the season pass unless they're extremely cheap in a sale.
Hey dreamcast guy (or anybody else for that matter) do the dlc episodes get integrated into the story or are they still stand alone separate experiences? For example when gladioulous (spelling?) Leaves the group is that when you play his dlc? Or is it still you play it...when ever you decide?
I have bought this game. One important note if you dont have Internet the dlc will not work offline. You must have constant internet connection not only for the multiplayer functions but all off the DLC even the one you purchase.
I played and finished the game at launch, had lots of complaints but after this extra stuff that was added that I didn't know about I may replay it to see how much it improved.
Disgusted with Square Enix and this game; give us stupid DLC costumes instead of Story content to give closure to a messy story; granted they have fixed things but this should have been done on release.
My father gave me the original release on ps4. I still own that version. I never PAID for DLC, having only operated off free dlc before-hand. I just ordered the royal edition physical copy for 20 bucks. I'm probably gonna give the original version I have to a friend.

well this is my wallet loss:FFXV deluxe edition 89.99, i didnt bought the season pass (my bad), spent the episodes for each one of 4.99 per 3 was 14.97, then the comarades was 19.99 and now the royal another 14.99 equals: 139.94, you done it well square and i didnt mind because the purchase was in times and not all in one day
I played original release on PS4 when it came out and loved it. Never got any DLCs. Later I bought Royal Edition for PS4 and absolutely loved it. Especially new Royal Edition content. So much so I platinumed it. Now I also have Xbox version of Royal Edition so I can finally experience it with 60 frames on Series X. Even first person view! Which sadly doesnt work well in battles but outside of battles I usually play 1st person. 😘 If it came out like this people would have great memories of it but now its underrated forgotten behemoth. 😬

The addition of Kings of Yore and Armiger Unleashed makes me want to fight the other Kings of Yore at max level like Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix's Data Organization XIII fights.
Any sign of an Ultimate Disc Edition - at least then the "Finished" Game would be cheap - or should I just wait for them to make a 4K version re-release. ? It would be peculiar if some ultimate edition was available in one on the PC and not on a console format too.

I played it through when it first came out and was annoyed with the plot holes. The simple gameplay didn’t bother me as I play games for story. However the story felt extremely unfinished. The character chapters flesh it out more but those are story elements that should’ve been released when the game came out. I played through it once I don’t really feel like playing it again after all the hours I poured into it.
After i finished the story, played all the characters dlc's and tried the comrade's multiplayer, i stopped playing cuz i had no fun doing it. Is it worth coming back to this game for the new content?
ffxv is sure flawed but it's a pretty charming, feelsy game that gets way too much hate. if i were you i'd buy it whenever the mega total very definitive edition comes out, but only then.
I may now buy it on pc. but I will wait for a hefty discount though. 50% or more. I'd definitely buy it again and feel better about the purchase for 20$.
The presence of royal, ultimate, and complete editions really highlight the advantage of waiting a few years. Waiting a few years mean the game has been fixed, complete, and comes with a lower price.
Seriously, the combat is the worst, it's chaotic, cheap and it's hard to telegraph your enemies attacks, even with the button prompts to block and parry the game is a pain in the ass.
I only played this version. Form my point of view FFXV was not a typicall Final Fantasy game. However, it was still a good game and the music, the villian and in particular the end of the game are absolutely great.
Soooo is all of this in this version only? Or if I have the game, can I just get all of this through DLC? Cause I bought the steel book version, which wasn't cheap, and I don't want to buy it again.

My suggestion is when you get a chance get NieR:Automata instead it's what FFXV should have been in terms of a combat system.

As someone who bought the original game day one this mostly just pisses me off there’s all kinds of content they eventually added that I missed because after platinuming the game and still finding missing storyline content I just don’t have the energy to go back they should have just released it complete to begin with

At 34.99 and the manager and another employee said the content was definitely there since corporate prices everything. The base game was right next to it at 15.99 so they said oh ya all the content has to be there. So I went home, which there and back is 25min of driving,with my God of War and FF15 royal. But wouldn't ya know the stupid dlc code was already used by the last player. Gamestop said they couldn't give me a new copy that's only a messily 5$ more and then didn't have anymore royals used. They made me call corporate. I had to get kinda loud with them explaining it's almost 30mins to drive there and back and I spend a lot at that store. That I didn't just want the game I paid for,but also credit for the gas and time I have to waste coming in there. It was a total mess. I finally got corporate to add 15,000points to my card so I could buy a giftcard with what was left. But jesus what a nightmare, all over a game i already beaten. Never played the 2 episodes, multiplayer, or that city ruins or bosses but I'm thinking I might just keep my money since Godnof War is smsximg and a large game. I'm sure

Seems like waiting for the PC version was the right choice. Pay way less (got all this for like 40 euros), get it at 60fps and get it in an actually finished state. Looking forward to try it, hope that the gameplay isn't as simplistic as it looks :3

Since I beat the core game, Ive been just playing other games and doing other shit waiting for all of the FF15 DLC to be released, packaged together, and discounted. As of 6/8/18 the Royal Pack DLC is currently on sale for $10.49 and I already know it’s gonna be money well spent.
This review convinced me to buy the Royal Edition; I'm glad I did. I skipped vanilla & managed to avoid all spoilers. The extra end bosses are AWESOME; more memorable than the final boss! I really liked the game a lot more than I expected. I would say its pretty much required to watch Kingsglaive & Brotherhood to get important story beats & character development (Like Insomnia and Lunafreya's whole backstory) which is a fault. Overall I like the direction FF is going minus the questionable business practices.
There is more coming....so not the definitive version, but I'll still pick this pack up because I'm not a broke bitch, and I enjoy this game

My brother got me the game as a late Christmas gift as soon as it came out (I have fond memories of it because I also got a puppy around the time who would cry if I didn't hold him while I played), but I never got the DLCs. Now the Royal Edition keeps going on sale and, to me, that's definitely worth it. If a friend ever asks if they should buy the standard game or the royal edition I'd definitely suggest the royal edition.

yeah I was going to play a new game+ on my ps4 after they COMPLETED the damn game. that's not happening. I was even going to resub my FFXIV account soon when I had more time coming up. that wont be happening anytime soon. so.. I been super addicted to the dark souls series and going through all of them now. seems I will be only buying dark souls games for now on. atleast is a game that focuses on game play.
the best games i play recently was zero horizon dawn and dark souls/bloodborne and persona 5. all of these games have great dlc or none at all and give me what I want exactly a good theme and awesome gameplay with it. FFXV was a movie basically and not a game... the bonus dungeon had no enemies just puzzles and the tomes that had like 40-100 levels down were just a fucking chore. if you haven't bought it.. wait for a sale. the dlc.. ha! gladio was short and not worth the asking price, prompto was fan service and had a limited open world it was basically a typical FF style minigames DLC. ignus? ha... hahahaha wtf! might well forget everything played in the maingames.. because ignus doesn't line up unless you shell out the extra 15 USD to get finish the story.even with the "royal edition" it still doesn't seem to fill in all the pieces so expect more DLC. Which is coming. comrands is still not complete and even though I bought the season pass I have to get the royal edition to finish that content. FFXV is a SCAM!

tbh no AAA games release with finished status anymore. You can just expect that. We only buy the games on their releases JUST for the sake of playing them on their releases so we can live the hype and discuss with other early birds. If you buy a game early then complain how it's not finished because DLCs then you are the problem. You chose to put yourself in the early group when you in fact are not that type of gamer. I gave til I was lvl 25,emailed them,tweeted,Facebook messenger them to ask if difficulty setting would eventually be added. If so I would have kept the game,but I could never get a reply. Hellni even tried calling bando namcai. It's a joke of a game when everything else is so complex, awesome graphics and the magic is insanely beautiful. But I could never enjoy the complexities of the battle system. By far the easiest combat in a game I have ever played. I had to trade it cuz i felt no sense of reward or accomplishment, and no dopamine hit for winning battles. Isn't that the point of games? FF15 is easy on the hardest mode and no no kuni 2 was still 10x easier. Shame they could have had a game of the year contender

Are the episodes of the other characters integrated in the main game or are they a option in the menu? That bothered me in the original Darksider 2 and with the Deathinitive Edition they added them quite well in the main game. I wish it would be in this game too

Let do the math: I pre-ordered FFXV Deluxe Editions with the price of $89.99 from Amazon, and because Amazon is not shipping available in my Country so i have to pay extra for Shipping fee. Made it cost total $110, which is insanely expensive. Then i brought the Season Pass with $25. And if i buy this DLC, it gonna be $150 in total, just wow when i see how much i'd spent for this game.
Cerberus was cool, the fight against the Rulers of Yore was awesome (although I thought we would have to fight all 13 so seeing it end after 3 was sad - but that was the fault of my own hype). Omega seems great (although I have some grinding to do until I can defeat it) - the attack patterns etc. are cool. I liked that Comrades/The Glaives were pulled into the story even though meeting your own Glaive wasn't done great for the Story - just drops in and back out for one fetch quest with no build up whatsoever. All they added were 3 quests to the expanded ruins all of which are awful - they are so mundane they actually ruin the tension of the last scene. I agree it should have been longer to allow us to see the scope of damage to Insomnia and see the worse the Starscourge has to offer but these quests... take some pictures, find some random items and destroy imperial bases...
Its exactly 50/50 on everything - all the great tension and great cinematic are bogged down by the mundane quests. During this, the Glaives Noctis talks to and Noctis' replies all lose the serious emotions and go back to being playful like there is not a care in the world ... its chapter 14, not chapter 2!!
Even the amazing scene with the wall (no spoilers) was amazing BUT... the scene with Ifrit and the summons now loses its impact which in my opinion was cooler than what happened the scene before so overall ends up feeling like a loss rather than a bonus.
So basically they should have delayed it 2 more years 😂

I just finished FFXV a few days ago, bought it cheap in the Christmas sales and finally got round to playing it. I liked it more than I thought I was going to, still not great though. Probably won't get this or the season pass unless they're extremely cheap in a sale.
Hey dreamcast guy (or anybody else for that matter) do the dlc episodes get integrated into the story or are they still stand alone separate experiences? For example when gladioulous (spelling?) Leaves the group is that when you play his dlc? Or is it still you play it...when ever you decide?
I have bought this game. One important note if you dont have Internet the dlc will not work offline. You must have constant internet connection not only for the multiplayer functions but all off the DLC even the one you purchase.

I played and finished the game at launch, had lots of complaints but after this extra stuff that was added that I didn't know about I may replay it to see how much it improved.
Disgusted with Square Enix and this game; give us stupid DLC costumes instead of Story content to give closure to a messy story; granted they have fixed things but this should have been done on release.
My father gave me the original release on ps4. I still own that version. I never PAID for DLC, having only operated off free dlc before-hand. I just ordered the royal edition physical copy for 20 bucks. I'm probably gonna give the original version I have to a friend.
see I bought ffxv for $15 at local game exchange. the season pass and Royal edition made it $55 . plus it has met my personal quota of 2 hours per dollar I pay. have 150+ hours on it. it had a lot of issues but I sure as hell have my money's worth.

I picked up the royal edition game for £35.
I played the day one edition on my ps4 and loved it. Now going to complete it on the Xbox one.
Another bug was that I killed a bird and the body landed on air like it is the ground.
Okay so am I able to access the insomnia map after the end game? Because I’ve already finished the game and can use umbra. Or do I have to replay the story line to get access?

I played original release on PS4 when it came out and loved it. Never got any DLCs. Later I bought Royal Edition for PS4 and absolutely loved it. Especially new Royal Edition content. So much so I platinumed it. Now I also have Xbox version of Royal Edition so I can finally experience it with 60 frames on Series X. Even first person view! Which sadly doesnt work well in battles but outside of battles I usually play 1st person. 😘
If it came out like this people would have great memories of it but now its underrated forgotten behemoth. 😬

I played it through when it first came out and was annoyed with the plot holes. The simple gameplay didn’t bother me as I play games for story. However the story felt extremely unfinished. The character chapters flesh it out more but those are story elements that should’ve been released when the game came out. I played through it once I don’t really feel like playing it again after all the hours I poured into it.
After i finished the story, played all the characters dlc's and tried the comrade's multiplayer, i stopped playing cuz i had no fun doing it. Is it worth coming back to this game for the new content?

ffxv is sure flawed but it's a pretty charming, feelsy game that gets way too much hate. if i were you i'd buy it whenever the mega total very definitive edition comes out, but only then.

The presence of royal, ultimate, and complete editions really highlight the advantage of waiting a few years. Waiting a few years mean the game has been fixed, complete, and comes with a lower price.
Seriously, the combat is the worst, it's chaotic, cheap and it's hard to telegraph your enemies attacks, even with the button prompts to block and parry the game is a pain in the ass.

I only played this version. Form my point of view FFXV was not a typicall Final Fantasy game. However, it was still a good game and the music, the villian and in particular the end of the game are absolutely great.
