This game is rough but I loved it as a kid. I love seeing people try it out.
I feel like I remember playing this as a kid and at the same time remembering absolutely nothing about it other than the movie's plot.

So this game is half my childhood and watching it now, I realize holly cow! It seems like it so if I’m wrong then oof, however this game seems like it’s just story board sketches, preroll, and takes from making the movie!! That’s really really cool!!!
I'd honestly like to see more SpongeBob game playthroughs sometime soon. Ones in particular for right now would be Atlantis Squarepantis, Truth or Square, SuperSponge on PS1, or possibly the Nicktoons games on PS2/GameCube like Battle for Volcano Island. There's something inherently fun about Ray and these old tie-in games that gives off a cozy feeling. 😊

I loved this game as a kid. I also remember it being a nightmare to complete, one of my first experiences with soul crushing repetition.

The block platform levels makes me think of the time rift levels in A hat in time. Looks equally annoying
The ones in this game really do feel inspired by Super Mario Sunshine, and is definitely equally as brutal as both those and the time rifts hahaha

This game was essential in my early gaming career as a kid! I loved this game.
I loved this game as a kid, but my disc was scratched so I could not upgrade specific moves at all or else the game would crash and I’d have to restart. I absolutely made it to planktopolis but I don’t think I actually ever beat the game.
27:14 "Were you having fun playing this as a kid?" For some of the game yes, but not the end part Ray is at in that moment. my sister and I gave up on the game at a certain annoying part where you have to bounce between two walls, but spikes keep coming out. Also, doing the guitar thing without lock on is indeed hell
