I usually don't get caught up with this living off the grid idea due to costs, this is the first off grid house that actually makes sense, it is cheap, it is well insulated and it looks comfortable to live in. Great job
Mr. Dody, you are a great presenter and thank you for making this video. Where would learn more about the "floating sand foundation" method that you mentioned?
Check out the C-Head manufactured "plastic" toilet, under $600, odorless and cosmetically pleasing. Great way to go for people that dont wanna build or can't. And I disagree with the $1.5-2,000 back-up for storms system if u live on the grid. A small generator and a 30 gallon drum of stabilized fuel is a much better choice. . . It'll charge two batteries, power your freezer and fridge intermittently, wash and dry clothes. . . For 6 weeks of outage. For $1,000. And u can use it for a hundred other things between storms. Backup solar is not the way to go if u look at it thoroughly. If u wanna be green and have a couple lights going while your freezer melts and u spend more, go ahead. Opinion.
There are lots of areas with cheap land. You just need to define for yourself what are the most important things the land has for your purposes. I would look for land east of CO Springs, NE Oklahoma, or SE Missouri for cheap land.
What county in Colorado is this in, if I may ask? Costillo county, just as an example, requires a legal permanent domicile to be 600 sqft minimum... Personally, I think that is all a load of shit - I paid for it, is it my damn property or not?! YES, I understand building codes & property values, just sayin'...
Ok maybe 6 yrs ago it would of been that much to do a whole home with Solar but prices have dropped so much that’s it’s probably a 1/4 of what he said to date
They are just ventilation airways. Its part of the old home designs for places with a hot climate. Why does this man keep calling places "this world countries" and then talking about crime, when the vents are just a way to get air into the homes?
Very strange it skips and won't play. Something is wrong with your clip. Plays under a minute then wants you to reload it 4 times not really see this clip SAD.

$50,000 might sound expensive to some like you...But to others it's cheap. You have to consider everything

Amazing way to live. I would love to live off grid. Just can't find inexpensive land. Any suggestions?

Problem solver. The trick?Where do yo go to be off grid?
Ugly home, great design
DUMB you could buy a utility building 240 sq foot for less then $1,000
The interior is depressing.
Make a tiny house yourself, make it as depressing for yourself as you want it.
I agree. . . It is very depressing, about like a man camp trailer in North Dakota.
To each their own.
