It's easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to all these unreal images online but ultimately makeup can be for feeling good about yourself, for YOU. I love you just as you are. :)
Agreeing with so much of this already!! And yes, it’s mostly muscle memory. I’ve finally come to an age where I also don’t feel like I need to do what others are doing, but also not having to be perfect about things (like eyeliner). Told myself no one is coming up close to inspect the eyeliner and say ah ha it’s not 100% mistake free! And even if someone says something, they can have an opinion but doesn’t mean I have to take it. I usually take opinions from my inner circle of people I trust😊
Yes to not having people come and inspect up close! I always like the 2-ft test: when you look in the mirror take one step back because that’s how most people will see you. Most of the time people are standing at least 2 feet away, not inches from our face like how we are when we apply makeup 😁
there are lots of influencers who post/posted great tips for covering acne and texture! Nikkia Joy has oily, textured skin; Casey Holmes has oily skin with rosacea and texture (her older videos will show it more since she had a lot of success with laser treatment); Taylor Wynn had severe acne many years ago (treated with Accutane). That's just off the top of my head. Good luck!
Yes to all of this! When I discovered your videos, it was the first time I had seen makeup tips for eyes like mine! Following your tutorials was how I improved my makeup techniques. And it does take a long time and practice. But it does get better!
It really does get better! Sometimes I have tried things that don't work but that's ok too, it's fun just to try it out. When you stumble upon something that does work though, it goes so much smoother when you try it the next time, right?
I still watch your old make up tutorials for make up basics!! Tried and true and love that you are one of the pioneers for Asian makeup tutorials on RUclips! Thank you for all the tutorials all these past years - it’s where I learned to do my own make up 😄
Ah yeah the hunt can be tricky! I don't see too many people sharing the exact brushes they are using very often. I've had good luck with MAC, Sigma beauty, and Sephora brushes! Also, one tip is to buy individual brushes (versus a mini set) because often the quality of brushes is better per brush!

It took me a decade to figure out makeup that suits my eye shape, but there are still days where my eyeliner looks wonky, even though I know how to draw it. Some days are just bad eyeliner days lol. I'm really into the graphic eyeliner trend and colorful makeup lately. It feels a little weird to be in my 30's watching a tutorial from someone who is 20, but I'll always keep learning and younger people have such creative ideas for makeup that I love to try. 😊
I appreciate what you said about keeping up with trends bc most people wouldn't. it's true, makeup trends are like fashion, wearing older styles will make you look dated
I feel called out because I feel like I do my makeup from when I learned 10 years ago so I guess I'm stuck in the past lol. But really good video on tips to change our mindset or skills
I agree keeping up with the trend, it is evolving. I look back at my base makeup years ago and saw the shades I chose then was so off and now ive learned to choose the right shade for my skin tone. It all does take practice. I love the variety of makeup now which makes it hard not to keep buying too much of it lol. I had to detox from it at times. I am one who wears makeup every day, it definitely boost me up for the day.
I definitely need to practice more! And only do the steps I enjoy. Just because other people love blush or a bold lip doesn’t mean I like how it looks on myself.

I think I don’t enjoy it and can’t do it properly due to my skin texture! It’s really hard to feel good in makeup with acne prone skin :(
