- From late 1977, here is a unique parental warning prior to showing "The Outer Limits", taped from KTTV, Ch. 11, in L.A. I thought the doorbell sound effect was very effective!!!
Almost all the Outer Limits shows WERE scary/disturbing...that was part of the point.
I think it’s probably because unlike The Twilight Zone, which was pretty well known to be a horror show, The Outer Limits was less known. For all parents knew, the name could’ve been indicative of Star Trek or another sci-fi series, judging by that intro scene at least.
Sorry for the late reply.
Soul Train and Outer Limits on Saturdays!! I was there..my childhood kicked a$$
The episode in question is of course O.B.I.T., which is actually a clever and extremely prophetic satire on surveillance culture.
I'm 58 and that Domenic Frontiere music is scaring me...
I wish there was a parental warning back in 1963...this episode ("O.B.IT.") scared the s**t out of my sister and me...
It’s cool that someone saved this!
Good Times!!!!!!
Hilarious clip but fab episode, maybe the warning came true, in its modern guise OBIT has been re-branded as... facebook ...
Yaz! As the colonel said, "I can't not look away!"
The station ID ended too soon; the high E on trumpet would've cinched it.
Well ya . I wish these warnings preceeded the original airings in the 1960s because alot of kids had nightmares from watching with their parents
They've got to be bloody kidding!! What's so traumatic!!
TVs use to be a novelty
I remember this!!! Sat afternoons, what was it, 3:30? Creature Feature….this intro and the show scared the hell out of me back in the day! #GoodTimes
'Ding-Dong'! Here, have a blurry warning! That looks like it was done with a Scanimate system!
I assume it's dated from 1971-72, around the same time as their "Where There's Always More to See" slogan.
KTTV showed Outer Limits thru the early 80s. Of course they butchered the episodes for lots of commercials!
Hm, a warning ahead of a TV program. Sounds woke to me.
If The Outer Limits is not the bleakest television show of the 1960s, I don't know what was. The Twilight Zone was a comedy in comparison.
There was ONE episode wherein Carroll O'Conner and Barry Morse played alien cops/scientists here to STUDY (but not conquer) humans...maybe the only ep with any (intentional) laughs.
@@1958Shemp Due to budgetary limitations, ep intentionally reused same footage ad nauseum. The 1960's is the era of shoestring budgets for TV shows! Same applied to the makeup and special effects budgets. ABC network said that only 50 thousand dollars would be allocated for SFX and makeup per ep!
EGADS, BEEPING COMPUTERS, CHEAP SPECIAL EFFECTS, NO TECHNICOLOR, WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
