Simon Hirst - Broken (Lifehouse Cover) Settee Sessions #1

A live acoustic cover of a Lifehouse track named 'Broken' filmed at Grange Studio, Hamilton, New Zealand.
The intention of what will become this series of videos was to really hone in on capturing the live performance as it sounded in the room, and to try and push myself as a musician to get the performance and dynamics right. The only microphone used is the Avantone CV-12 seen in shot. No room mics or close mics, so there is nothing to hide behind, just the pure performance. The post production work is also kept to a minimum to allow it to sound as pure as possible.

Can’t have that!! It’s an early 2000’s Martin D-35 (can’t recall exactly what year off the top of my head, about 2003 I think), and generally I use standard Martin SP 80/20 12’s. In this video it had 13’s due to a run of shows where it was tuned down a full step!
