Music that requires actual talent was still prevalent on the radio and on everyone's home made CD mixes. Movies and games were breaking so many boundaries and were still original, opening up so many people's eyes and minds to the possibilities ahead. The future didn't seem so daunting as it does now. Gonna be my Daddy-Daughter dance song when my oldest daughter gets married some day. She was just a few days old, sleeping on my chest, and this song came on. The magnitude of what it meant to finally become a dad hit me like a freight train as I listened to this. I realized how critical my choices in loving and raising her would shape the person she would one day become.... and I realized that I would happily die for this tiny little one sleeping on me. I knew from that moment this song would always be a special representative of my relationship with her.

I was a sophomore in high school when Hoobastank blew up! Nostalgia is crazy. 20 years later and here I am laying on my couch with my Frenchie, YouTubing my favorite bands as a teen, waiting for my kids and wife to wake up! Life is crazy:)
[Verse 1] I'm not a perfect person There's many things I wish I didn't do But I continue learning [Pre-Chorus] I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know [Chorus] I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you [Verse 2] I'm sorry that I hurt you It's something I must live with every day And all the pain I put you through [Pre-Chorus] I wish that I could take it all away And be the one who catches all your tears That's why I need you to hear [Chorus] I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you [Post-Chorus] And the reason is you And the reason is you And the reason is you [Break] I'm not a perfect person [Pre-Chorus] I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know [Chorus] I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new And the reason is you I've found a reason to show A side of me you didn't know A reason for all that I do And the reason is you

My all time Karaoke song! There is The question of the reason for everything is a deeply philosophical and existential inquiry. It touches upon fundamental questions about the nature of existence, purpose, and the universe. Philosophers have explored the question of the reason for everything throughout history. Some argue that life and meaning are constructed through individual experiences and relationships, while others seek broader metaphysical explanations. In many religious traditions, the reason for everything is often tied to the existence of a divine creator or a higher power. The purpose of life and the universe is considered to be part of a divine plan. This song makes me cry all the time.
Great that Doug, Dan and Chris found Jesse to replace Markku who helped them make it 20 years ago. Without the imaginative video made when their lives were youthfully hectic, this works brilliantly in acoustic form and Doug’s tone is richer than it used to be.
I was a little kid when I heard this song playing over my dad's stereo during the night. Now, I started listening to this song after a huge arguement with my mom. Everyday, I still come back to this video to atleast feel in peace and look forward to what's coming to me. Thank you Doug, you have genuinely no idea how this song saved me from jumping off.

The nostalgia is beautiful and painful because we all got older.

I am Korean and I thought it was 16 or 17 year old. 2006 maybe? This song was big on the street. I liked it

Such a damn classic tune. And everyone’s already said it: NOSTALGIA!
This is a true thing of beauty. These guys should have never faded away
Along with the well written melody, the bass player's high harmonies really make the chorus.
My mom passed away today. This was always one of her favorite songs. You're making me cry hoobastank. The reason is you.... Thank you for bringing me back to happy memories.
RIP Sandra. ❤️❤️
Sorry for your loss and I hope you’ll get through these difficult times….the only advice I could give is keep the memories alive and remember your mum will want you to be ok. X
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope this song of nostalgia will guide her to a path of peace. :(
Stay strong brother
Sorry for your loss buddy. :( I can't imagine
Thank you, kind strangers, for the comforting words. Who knew you could find such great comfort from strangers on RUclips 🥺❤️
Faith in humanity. 📈
There’s absolutely something in this song that makes me want to reminisce.
The cuts to the original music video hit me right in the heart
I was 21 when this song came out and it is extraordinary how this now makes all the sense that it didn't back then... fucking onions man.
Time flies man but this song is a banger for life.
Reallyyy!!
Yes it is
I was a sophomore in high school when Hoobastank blew up! Nostalgia is crazy. 20 years later and here I am laying on my couch with my Frenchie, YouTubing my favorite bands as a teen, waiting for my kids and wife to wake up! Life is crazy:)
Discovered Hoobastank when i was back in high school ,this song is still close to my heart
And it always will be our favourite.
So delighted to see a budding singer get inspired by a legend ❤️
Anyone else wish they could go back to the 2000's? The music, games, shows, and movies.
Everything except fashion
Me everything is beautiful... The age of friendship is everything
Im crying
All i ever dreamed of..
And no coronavirus
[Verse 1]
I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
[Pre-Chorus]
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
[Chorus]
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
[Verse 2]
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with every day
And all the pain I put you through
[Pre-Chorus]
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear
[Chorus]
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
[Post-Chorus]
And the reason is you
And the reason is you
And the reason is you
[Break]
I'm not a perfect person
[Pre-Chorus]
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
[Chorus]
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you
gracias ❤

This legit made me tear up…I really would give anything to experience this period of time again. As a teenager, I didn’t appreciate it the way I would as an adult now.
Youth is wasted on the young
man fck... humans are doomed
I feel the same way. I remembered walking down the Vegas strip 20 years ago in the snow while this song was playing. It was a surreal moment.

You hit right on the head 100% agree
I have a 15 years of relationship with this song.
This may be lost within the realm of comments... but I’ve recently been doing doing a lot of soul searching ever since I broke up with my ex 3 years ago, and this song just played in my head out of nowhere. Now this releases??? Synchronicity seems more and more plausible each day! Introspection and self reflection is a beautiful trait, and hoobstank taught us that very thing so long ago :) love you all.

Honestly, I think he’s stronger as a live vocalist now than he was back in the day. He sounds great.
Exactly
Its autotuned
@@AndrewIsNew its not autotune its pitch correction there's a difference
@@RandomPerson-ui3xv that’s one of autotune features. And it sounds awful, very robotic. Backup vocalist sounds better IMO.

Candy AR how can you get chills figuratively?
The fact that he's still got his voice is one thing, but them putting footage of the original MV and behind the scenes got me a bit choked up, ngl. We're old now, I hope everyone here is doing good in life
He still got that voice. that amazing voice. Idk why but it always break my heart everytime I listen to this song.
I'm so impressed with his vocals they haven't changed even a little 😍😂
Haha they were pretty out of shape for a while.. before clicking this I hoped he would sound good. Exceeded my expectations and very happy for the nostalgia :)
Doug's voice is still amazing.. so nostalgic song ever..
The honesty and the humility of the lyrics is an understatement. This songs connects very well to those who are living in their true self. As human is vulnerable to worlds elements. The Reason of all the things we exists is the one who we truly love. ❤
This song came out when I was 21. Carefree, out every night, worked odd jobs and spent all the money on anything I wanted. The best years of my life. Such amazing memories this song brings.

Okay, just heard the recorded version, but nothing beats the intimacy of acoustic music.
Gold.
Great acoustic
Great song especially acoustic version
Great that Doug, Dan and Chris found Jesse to replace Markku who helped them make it 20 years ago.
Without the imaginative video made when their lives were youthfully hectic, this works brilliantly in acoustic form and Doug’s tone is richer than it used to be.
