Simple fix for dead rising 2 on steam
will need to use a charging cable as a WIRED CONNECTION.

@@meshelkarlee5002 This won't actually enable controller support unless you have a controller that Steam recognizes as an Xbox 360 controller or a controller with X-input.

so tried a bunch of these other videos and this is the only one that worked granted the UI is different now this does work!
doesn't work for me the layout in big screen mode is not even the same
Big picture no longer looks like this and doesn't have that option

workaround here:
Right click the game in your steam library and click properties. Click controller and enable steam input. Close the window and right click the game and go to manage>controller layout. Enable steam input. Click the current button layout, then templates and select Keyboard (WASD) and mouse template. Click apply layout. This maps your controller to keyboard and mouse inputs. You can modify your controller mapping to whatever keybinds you want.
ALTERNATIVELY you can use one of the community layouts so you don't have to manually rebind the keys
This should work on any steam game, and is similar to how controller remapping works on Steam Deck. Hope this helps!

@@imonke5303 refollow the steps and when you finish template go back to templates make sure wasd is applied cuz sometimes it isn't for some reason should be blue on the side then it should work it's what I did the second time and it worked. Also go to community layouts afterwards there should be some layouts that will make it easier

Works like a charm, folks want the community controls that has menu tied to right click to swap control schemes, then its just like it is on console, cheers

Yeah this didn't work for me at all. I even started it from Big Picture mode and it still didn't work.. Would love to play this amazing game again on a much better PC but alas.
No fix is working for me.... not 3rd party downloads, nor big picture modes..... honestly unsure what the hell is going on since this game claims to not apparently be for remote according to steam 🤔That makes absolutely no sense considering it was more popular on consoles..... i recently got all 4 too 5 including off the record... but this has really pissed me off.... N hopefully i can find a fix that is not 360exe or big picture mode.... 😥
Pretty sure dead rising 4 doesn't exist, last game was 3 as far as I remember

I know i'm a bit late but, I tried using a wired xbox one controller, Followed the method, And it did not work, I also tried taking out the wire from the controller and using another usb, Same reaction, Does nothing.

Sounds like a network prob or steam has removed the online capability with it being a old game now (they've done it with saints row 2 aswell)..

@@Q.R.A.P That can't be the issue as Dead rising 2 and off the record are both using Steamworks. It means that the games online capabilities rely on Valve's servers.
I heard if you have a VPN That make make connection happen and you should turn that off before trying to do co-op

Didn't play about with multisampling so must of been turned off from start up/scratch

Doesn't work (Xbox One Controller)
If playing through Steam, steam does not have xbox one bluetooth support. You need to use a usb (charging cable will suffice)

Found a solution. Using PS5 controller not sure of others. Right click game in steam library got to properties controller enable steam input. Then right click game hi manage then controller layout. Click template and scroll to select WASD and mouse. enjoy. Turns controller into mouse and keyboard for every and any game that can use wasd.

Must be something with your p.c settings or steam settings or itll be working, its worked for other folk including myself 😀

@@Q.R.A.P well the reason it doesn't work is because the game doesn't recognize xbox one controllers.
i guess you are using an xbox 360.
i had to download x360ce to make it work.
your video did help me a little bit. because once i installed x360ce. then i had to do what you did in the video, setting controller to "forced off" and then i had to change some text in the ini file for x360ce, then it worked.
so the video did help a little

Found out that If using a xbox one controller it must be wired (steam wont recognise the bluetooth connection) ..
i did it using a wired xbox360 controller...

but if can use the controls charging cable as a wired connection, depends if theres 2x micro usb ports on the controller..
