    Thank you so much! We had tried a new fuel pump and fuel relay sensor but they didn't help. I googled my Galant's problem and found your video. You were a God send because I was running out of money & hope. I started to think I would just have to park my car and give up. I can't thank you enough for your knowledge and willingness to help us "do it yourself" galant owners. May your kindness be returned 100 fold!

      I'm sure glad I could help friend. The Galant is a stoic vehicle, it runs forever with incredibly minimal maintenance. just watch out for counterfeit eBay camshaft position sensors. As my earlier comments on this video point out. I was the victim of parts fraud on eBay. Good news is eBay got my money back and the new sensor was only 40 bucks. Galant on!

      exactly my same problem... got a new fuel pump... was looking at the relay, but got a diagnostic test and the guy immediate knew it was the camshaft sensor. Picked one up today, going to install tomorrow. Wish me luck!!

      the Galant is one of the most reliable cars ever made. especially and particularly this generation. another way to verify that it is the camshaft sensor is too unbolt your spark plug coils and point them upside down in the air. then begin turning the motor over. if only 2 spark plugs are sparking then you have confirmation that the computer is not calculating timing properly and that the camshaft sensor has failed. also a big bonus about this car is that fixing it is particularly easy. the timing belt service is probably the most difficult surgical procedure on this car. Glad I could help, Galant on!

    Hey, I brought a Mitsubishi Galant 02. One day it wouldn’t start. I changed the battery, && starter. It will crank to only 1000-1500 rpg and shut right off. If I press the gas pedal it will hold and cut right off. What could this possibly be ?

      Jaime Gallarzo that's common on this motor

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  8 лет назад

      Jaime Gallarzo no the crankshaft position sensor rarely goes bad but it does go bad and when it does it's a difficult job to do. You have to do a timing belt service essentially to do it. the most common causes of a start/stop situation would be the IAC sensor or the camshaft sensor. In your case since you have a code for the IAC sensor I would get that sensor. you can get them very cheap from junkyards. you'll probably end up buying the entire throttle body assembly but it will only cost you like 30 bucks. A new sensor online will be more expensive but then again you'll have the extra security of a new part.

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  8 лет назад

      Jaime Gallarzo did you take both coil packs out and verify that none of them are sparking at all? The Next Step might be to replace the camshaft position sensor. if your camshaft position sensor is bad you should still be getting spark from one of the coil packs. you have the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder motor correct? Can you give me more backstory so I can fully understand

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  8 лет назад

      Jaime Gallarzo unfortunately I'm not directly familiar with that motor. but you're saying you turn the car off then try to restart it and it won't start?

    Prime_Auto sold me a counterfeit camshaft sensor.
    *Problem Solved* The Cam Shaft Position sensor I bought from Ebay
    seller "Prime_Auto" was counterfeit!!! That seller also refused to
    communicate with me, I had to have ebay force my refund and for the
    first time ever I gave a negative feedback! I bought a new Cam Shaft
    sensor from ebay seller "dodge_chrysler_jeep_ram_parts" for 40 bucks.
    If the part you buy does not have a Mitsubishi symbol on it and does not
    have a part number it is counterfeit! The counterfeit sensor had an
    extremely weak magnet in it, the OEM that came off the car could hold
    some paper onto the fridge! The replacement I bought had a slightly
    weaker magnet in it than the original but had the part number and symbol
    on the part and works great. Thanks for watchin' and keep galanting!

      Turn the coil packs right side up with the spark plugs in them in the air and turn the car over and see if 1 or both coil packs is making spark at the spark plug. If only 1 is sparking then you know you have a an issue with either the cam sensor $40 or the crank sensor. This is the first step you should take at this point. Could also be IAC, FPR,

      your camshaft position sensor has failed. It is a simple fix, it takes about 5 minutes and you can find the sensor online on eBay for 40 bucks. There was one Extreme Caution in this job. And that is that 99% of the sensors you find online are counterfeit and fake and will never fix your problem. You must purchase a camshaft position sensor that has a Mitsubishi logo on it. I have a video that describes this in my videos come up search my videos and you will see what I'm talking about and where to buy it.

      +ArcolaBridge also multiple sparkplug missfiring

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  9 лет назад

      +Daves Perez you will have multiple misfire because your crankshaft sensor is misreporting signal. the cam sensor and the crank sensor bolt send a signal in time with each other come on you can visualize this on and analyzing screen. You watch for the blocks and eventually you'll find a script or an unmatched pattern. They must run in sync with each other or they will be out of time and you'll get a misfire. The way you can check this to determine which sensor it is if you can take your coil packs out point them straight up in the air with your spark plugs on them and see if all of your spark plugs are firing or only two. Your spark plugs fire in sets of two, you have two coils on plug, so do spark plugs fire for each coil. If your driver side coil is firing and not your passenger side, that typically indicates your cam sensor is at fault.

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  9 лет назад

      +Daves Perez if I were you I would replace the cam sensor first just to see if that fixes it. It's a lot cheaper, I got and OEM sensor on eBay for $45. However, before that I tried to go cheap and I got a sensor that cause extreme misfire. the problem is aftermarket sensors have a very weak magnet inside them. The OEM sensor is the correct sensor and will fix your misfire problem because it has a strong magnet inside. If you decide to get a replacement, check the strength of the magnet of your existing sensor against the replacement, they should both have the same magnetic strength. If it is any weaker it will be a knock off, and will cause a misfire.

    • @ArcolaBridge
      @ArcolaBridge  8 лет назад

      Stacey Atkinson was it? This was confirmed from a technician? The fuel pump must have been showing low or no pressure? A word of warning is that this car does not have a fuel filter. So if you let your tank and get low a lot it is possible to suck up debris into the fuel pump or the injectors from the bottom of the fuel tank. it's best not to allow the fuel tank to go below half way. and try to fill up at a quality station that you trust. also fill up with premium not regular, it's worth the extra pennies.
