    2014 Harvey coming back from TJ, Boras insisted he be shut down at 180 innings. He refused, went throught the playoffs. He was never the same. If he shut down in August, he may have had a monster career. As far as I can see, he risked and wrecked his arm and career trying to win the World Series for the Mets.

      well worth it...ONLY if they won the World Series that year

      Harvey has stated on a few occasions that his knee issues have ended his career. Not the elbow or TOS.

      Thats what a lot of people say. But its just not true. Harvey came back the next year and pitched very well for the first few games. So, pitching in WS did not destroy him. Then the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome hit him. That required a surgery that ended his career. Unlike TJ surgery, pitchers can't regain their form after a Thoracic Outlet surgery. Harvey too blames his downfall on that surgery.

      I'm doubtful about your theory here, mainly because the Washington Nats, despite making the playoffs one year, shut down a young Steven Strasburg because they were concerned about his innings. Didn't help Strasburg avoid a slew of injuries later. Besides, it wasn't the TJ surgery that did Harvey in, it was the thoracic outlet syndrome he came down with in 2016 that sapped him of his abilities.

    Good to see Harvey and hear that he's back around the team again. Really a shame the way injuries ruined his career. He could have been one of the all-time great Mets. Will always appreciate what he did in that 2015 season. He pitched some big games on that postseason run, and left it all on the field.

    Matt Harvey is underappreciated because of how his career ended. When he first came up he was electric.

    Harvey had some bad luck. But when his stuff was cooking it was electric. I never faulted the move starting him in the ninth in the WS. He was going strong through 8. Keeping him in was the right call in the moment

    • @Brhoward31
      @Brhoward31 3 месяца назад

      It wasn't his fault, David Wright didn't make a veteran play. He was hurt but should've charged the ball and stopped Hosmer from scoring.

    de Grom's peak is easily selected over Harvey's peak by anyone competent in baseball, and it's taking nothing away from Harvey's peak which should and will always be remembered by those who saw it. Glad Harvey is part of the Met family again.
