    Wow... Those b@$tards at the dealership told me TWO HOURS of labor, and they would have to take the whole door panel off!!! Do the math....$175/HR and a $20 to 50 part (varies where you buy it), equals BMW service dept servicing you a rip off.
    Thanks for the video! I will be replacing mine for sure.

    You can get the parts shipped from China for about $12 which includes shipping. I got them in less than 3 weeks, which is pretty good from China.They even include the tool to take that trim off. I did my daughter's and cousin's car for less than $30 and about 30 min total. This video was very helpful since he tells you what sized torx bits to use, and explains how the trim comes off. Thank you.

    Just did the job in 10 minutes! Thanks!
    2013 E70 here -- I could use regular Torxes, no need for security Torx tools.

    Thanks for the great video. The mechanic wanted to charge me $200+ said the whole door panel would need to be off, but I knew there was a way without it, and you simplified it for us. Thanks again.

    Awesome. I was able to take care or myself. Dealership quoted me $1000 to replace this handle and said it was not covered under warranty. I got it all under $50 and 10 mins of my time.

    Very nice video! Instigated me to move forward myself. Is there a chance that the more stubborn screw you put in could fall? In/behind the door? Thanks again !

    • @chopsuey503
      @chopsuey503  5 лет назад

      No the head of the screw is too large to it will not fall through the handle into the door panel. Its just so deep that once you unscrew it its hard to remove it from the well before removing the handle. If this saves you from a trip to the StealerShip Please Like and Subscribe.

    I know this video is a few years old, but I just ordered a new handle for my 2013 X5 as I'm having the same issue with the gumminess. The handle I received is plastic...I didn't know they came in plastic, but I think I need a leather one???

    • @chopsuey503
      @chopsuey503  2 года назад

      The handle is two pieces. The leather facing side you will retain from your vehicle. The underside is made of a rubbery plastic which is what you are actually replacing. Hope that helps. If i saved you a trip to the StealerShip Like & Subscribe!

    The originals are very expensive 100-120$ and have the same problems after a few yeras again. There are cheap ones for just 20$ in the aftermarket which are made of simple hard plastics. they will look like new for many, many years ... the material is "inferior" but don*t have the problems with becoming Gummy ... and to open the door herrself your wife doesn't even has to touch the handle!
