Spare a thought today for many of my brothers who are security operatives and bouncers in clubs and venues 🙏 a sector which has had a higher death rate during the pandemic than nearly all the sectors in the UK, including nursing.
Yet they get no pay rise, no job security and no work place benefits... They don't even get a clap.
Many will and do, put their lives on the line everyday and night , during unsociable hours, facing the brunt of the British publics frustrations, whilst making sure your daughters and sons return back home to you in one piece.
Thank you my brothers and sisters 🙏

If Boris leaves, that's the point, since this government has been passing stealth manoeuvres to twist elections in their favour whilst the public have fixated on tax increases. They're forcing through legislation that requires photo ID to vote to combat a non-existent problem of voter fraud, which will inevitably affect poorer communities disproportionately, they've put in potential caps and regulations restricting the amount of money that unions can donate to campaigns which, again, affects other parties and restricts their ability to function, and put Michael "people are tired of listening to experts" Gove as head of the body that oversees electoral processes, making it a partisan organisation. Effectively, they have made it easier for them to steal elections by pricing people out of a vote by requiring government ID that most people might not have access to, restricting funding for other parties, and put one of their friends in charge of the department that records election spending and potential misconduct.

Here's a novel idea. Scrap the upper earnings limit (currently £967 a week). This is the point at which your NI contributions stop. In other words, someone "earning" £10,000 a week pays the same as someone earning £967 a week. Also raise the primary threshold from £184 a week to the basic income tax threshold £12,570/52 = £242 a week (rounded up).
Yes, increasing NI contributions will affect younger workers. But don't forget, todays young workers are tomorrows pensioners/care home residents. No doubt they will be happy with the funding model when they become pensioners and require the services.
To make it fairer, they could introduce NI contributions on pensions above £12,570 a year (basic income tax threshold). As a pensioner (albeit not yet state pension age for a little over 2 years) I would have no objections to this. But this is dependent upon all tax avoiding loopholes for the rich and corporations being closed and the government being held accountable for spending tax payers money. No more dodgy contracts for family, friends and Party donors. Stop government corruption.

Quite the opposite. It is well thought out. Just not in a way that the top end of society would like because heaven forbid they should be asked to pay their fair dues. For instance, the raising of the primary threshold will be financed by the scrapping of the upper earnings limit and abolishing the tax loopholes for the rich and corporations. If everyone paid what they were supposed to, tax and national insurance rates wouldn't need to increase. There might even be scope to reduce tax rates while at the same time properly funding health and social care especially if government was held accountable for spending tax payers money.
Here are some facts for you. No moaning, no clichés.
*Cost of awarding PPE contract to Pestfix (a pest control company) and recall of substandard face masks £168milloin.*
*Total cost of the failed Serco test and trace £10billion of which consultant fees £56million (and counting)*
*Cost of 20% stake in failing satellite company manufacturing wrong kind of satellites for GPS system £500million*
*Money allocated to Dominic Cummings for Operation Moonshot £100 billion*
*Latest projected cost of HS2 £80 to £88billion*

There used to be some kind of ‘overseeing’ group of countries looking out for one another. That’s gone, and Boris gets to do whatever however he thinks he can do. Again, heartbreaking. Hang in there good people, there will be a time that everything has to turn out right…

It'll take about 2 parliaments for England to realign, about 9-10 years, that's assuming someone can actually get elected on that promise which given brexiteers head in the sand mentality seems unlikely. I'm Scottish and while this helps us towards independence I'm worried for my English friends and neighbours. Appreciate the shout though pal

We had the ludicrous situation the other day when a BBC Scotland "journalist" (that is the British Bullshit Corporation) talking to Nicola Sturgeon about the shortage of staff in our National Health Service and he actually said to her "surely you're not blaming the shortage on Brexit". Of course the BBC, even here in Scotland, is nothing more than a Tory propaganda machine.

Break a leg with your show in Edinburgh tonight. Break leg isn't a message I have been asked to pass on from Bojo ... for those out there who don't know, it's lovie theatre irony, something the Tories are utterly blind to.

It come from the US Vaudeville stage of the late 1900s. European actors, especially Jewish actors brought it over from the German stage, where a common phrase for wishing somebody good luck was "Hals - und Beinbruch", roughly "broken neck and leg". It originally comes from the Jiddish "haslokhe un brokhe", which means "luck and blessing", which sounds a bit like the German malapropism.
