I don’t mind them separating things like music and movies but idk I feel like podcasts and music make sense. I don’t know about you but I would want less apps to worry about updating or having open in the background.
@@macrumors They are separated because maybe in Apple's mind, they're different categories. Podcasts are regularly updated with new items, the software has to remember where you stopped (like a bookmark), and you listen to them as a whole (like chapters in a book). Music albums don't get updated with new music, you usually don't click on an item expecting it to resume playing from where you ended last time, and while you can listen to albums as a whole, most people shuffle their songs.
Having Podcasts as a separate app is so dumb. The name "podcast" literally was coined because of the iPod. Music, podcasts, & audiobooks should all be in one app.
I still have my Late 2013 Macbook Pro and I upgraded it to the Catilina beta yesterday. All going great so far! Hopefully one day I will upgrade to the 2019 Macbook Pro with a Core i9 and a Vega 20 graphics card as I'll be developing games for Mac.
Ankur Jadhav I’m not sure. It feels the same to me but Apple has dropped support in 32 bit apps in Catalina so programs like Audacity will have to be compatible with Catalina.
Apple did a great job working on the new functionality and apps to macOS Catalina. The only problem for me is... I want the new apps now! It's so hard to wait!
I like your voice. Don't worry about that one voice down somewhere. Anyway I'm hoping catalyst would mean i could get my robot vacuum app or Panasonic image app or iOS version of Netflix onto the mac. The one with smart downloads. Sidecar looks like team viewer or something to pick up and work on the couch thing. Especially cool for iMac people.
Dan, old school question: I used ITunes on my windows laptop to upload CDs to my IPod and IPhone. With the elimination of iTunes, is this no longer possible?
Apple will keep iTunes for Windows and for The other Mac OS itiretaions, they dont go to enter to you computer and unistall it, or it wont stop to work sudenly, so keep in mind is just new apps that keep the itunes database in order to continue your music and medi library in the apps that are now 3 new ones. keep the installer of iTunes 12 in a secure location maybe apple stop store of the installers on its servers one day. PS they still keep iTunes 7 or 8 on its servers, i know as i have old macs in my house
Hesitant to upgrade because of the loss of a large amount of 32 bit applications - including games. The move to 64 bit is necessary but presents a difficult choice.
I would love to upgrade to all these new Apple OS features but for the fact that it will break my mac and applications that haven't, and will probably not be ported to the 64bit OS.
Couldn’t disagree more with your comment about re-combining Music & Podcasts into one app. Many people don’t listen to podcasts, and for those it makes more sense to kick them out. And many others love podcasts, and for those it makes sense for a cohesive focused app on that functionality. Podcasts are a very different medium to music; very different. I’ve wanted this for quite a few years: Apple made the right call.
"Personally, I think we could probably just combine Apple Music and Podcasts into one app…" NO. That's how it starts! They behave differently and come from different sources. Songs shouldn't hold their position as you switch to different songs. Albums don't get new tracks. Keeping track for whether you've listened to a song doesn't make sense. They're different.
Spotify has them combined in one app and it works just fine. I am not sure I understand your concern? Music behaves normally and podcasts hold their place and can be picked up where the left off
So, instead of leaving all the iPhone sync junk in iTunes... They now stuffed it all into Finder. Because Finder isn't slow enough on it's own already. Apple could learn a thing or two here from Microsoft, in terms of how to write a snappy file manager.
About this update: tons of annoying prompts, sometimes in circles that do not work (like sunset to sunrise nightshift), many apps I used to work do not work anymore, more apps that you CANNOT uninstall. I had to install VirtualBox and windows to run my bioinformatic related software. Some aren't working anymore, some I have to BUY a new version. I noticed that Apple doesn't do computers for real work anymore. The operating system "stability" isn't paying off anymore, because now I have a computer that does not usually crash, but I CAN'T run the applications I need. Unfortunately, I'll move to a PC, a little sad, but if this is what they will gonna do the users, bye bye.
Windows had the universal app idea since the Windows phone, too bad they couldn't get it realised. For Mac it will be a bigger deal. This will get you your robot vacuum apps or games into Mac, I'm also hoping for an iOS version of betel Netflix with the smart downloads. Games, they have been lacking without overwatch and some of the more popular games on Windows. When they get dead cells or cup heads it could be fun again. And with Apple arcade, suddenly casual gaming on Mac doesn't sound so lacking.
Most pleased by the improvements in Apple Mail - finally be able to dump Gmail! Next a portal for third party video publishers please Apple so we can escape the stinking cesspit that is RUclips.
Think of it as focus. They are refocusing iTunes into three distinct apps. On Windows, iTunes will remain as iTunes. They’ve gotten years of feedback that iTunes has become a bloated mess. They made the right choice, and then some!!
Apple programming fucking sucks..... here's the newest thing that is supposed to be great: Now, I come here to watch a movie and start playing the movie and try to pause my Apple Music with my F8/Play/Pause key.... but now, Apple thinks its better for my Play/Pause key on my Apple keyboard to operate the App that I'm in, leaving no keys on their keyboard to play and pause Apple Music in the background.... so what happens is when I start playing the RUclips video and try to pause my Apple Music, the F8 key now pauses the RUclips video.... great huh! No.... I already have a space bar that operates RUclips videos.... I already have a "K" key that plays and pauses RUclips videos. I can even jump through the videos with my number keypad here on my Apple Keyboard anywhere I want to with just a touch of a button but Apple leaves no key on my keyboard to pause my Apple Music. So I have to manually go find the Apple Music program and press the play pause key on that app with my mouse. This is happening ALL OVER THE APPLE SOFTWARE... Stupid programming done by stupid programmers that gets by stupid management. I'm left with no key to operate my Apple Music while it's in the bacground, LIKE IT USED TO DO.... LIKE IT USED TO WORK. Apple's new motto is, "don't worry, if you like your current programming, and it works, we'll find a way to break it.... and if you find a workaround (like High Sierra Media Key Enabler App by a third party which fixed this issue).... we'll work very hard to make that stop working and break your programming again!!!" Tim Cook needs to get fired and fired publically. His programmers are idiots and have no management. His managers have no senior management. Apple fucking sucks.
Finally Apple is back !!!! 😊 🍎The best Apple Event in years !!!
Apple: divides iTunes into separate apps
MacRumors: maybe we should combine these apps idk
i like them seperate

when am I gonna get my Logic Pro update though… ?

I’m still running a 2010 mbp
Ankur Jadhav I’m not sure. It feels the same to me but Apple has dropped support in 32 bit apps in Catalina so programs like Audacity will have to be compatible with Catalina.
Did they bring back the cover flow scrolling in finder?
Apple did a great job working on the new functionality and apps to macOS Catalina. The only problem for me is... I want the new apps now! It's so hard to wait!
Can’t you install the beta profile now? I’m going to tonight
I did not know sidecar was that useful!
I know! Imagine how useful that is for video editors? The main screen can be used for post production work, and the iPad as a video playback monitor.
Is the background for Catalina still a dynamic screen like the background in Mojave?
yes
Almost same as Mojave !!!!! almost nothing new!!!
What about the new reminders app?
When will this be available?
What about the move from bash to zsh as the default login shell in Catalina?
can you moving and make itunes to your ipad ? and restore iphone via ipad ?...😎😎
I like your voice. Don't worry about that one voice down somewhere.

How can we play Asphalt 9 on the Mac?
1:12 Hey look it duolingo to the right side
Moom, we will miss you.
Great summary, thanks!

Anyone has any idea where is ambient noise reduction option on macOS Catalina?
I really think that Find My should’ve been called iFind or iFinder
Installing Catalina now and can’t wait to try Sidecar as they’ve had these third party apps which didn’t work well forever.
I would love to upgrade to all these new Apple OS features but for the fact that it will break my mac and applications that haven't, and will probably not be ported to the 64bit OS.
Now what Apple needs to do is fix their keyboard.
I am going to miss iTunes :(
If apple made media transfer easyer... it would be the perfect os
i love the new mac os
I am so mad i heard they got rid of dashboard on the new update upsetting :/
Why? Do you actually use it?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS_Catalina
scroll down to see dashboard
It's the fucking Catalina wine mixer!!!

Thank you ! Great work
It’s the fuckin Catalina wine mixer
macOS>Windows
Anything>Windows
Linux>MacOS>Windows
PUBG! Finally on my Mac 😍
Does it work, without the stand?

Which iMac's are going to be able to get Catalina?
TalsVids 2012 and up
@@TheTechPerson Or thanks for that. I have the late 2012 iMac, so thats good to know 😀👍🏼
The ones from next year

Is it just me or Mac Os is going on the same path and ideals as Windows 10? Especially the mobile UI
Seems like the safe move for them to me
Windows had the universal app idea since the Windows phone, too bad they couldn't get it realised.

Let's stop using Google spyware
Can someone please explain this to me? Why so many people say "I personally" ? It sounds stupid.
You seriously don't see how it is stupid to use both of them and you are just trolling me?
Pretty dope
Thanks for this video! God bless.
Bonus, it tastes really good on a salad.
That was the first thing I thought of when they mentioned the name on WWDC, an image of Kraft Catalina popped into my mind.
Came for a preview on some of the features coming to windows 10 a year after this releases 😂
Stupid that they are getting rid of iTunes
Think of it as focus. They are refocusing iTunes into three distinct apps. On Windows, iTunes will remain as iTunes. They’ve gotten years of feedback that iTunes has become a bloated mess. They made the right choice, and then some!!
yeah they should keep iTunes
That's what makes me sad.... I'm gonna keep using Mac OS Mojave as long as it is supported and so do iTunes. :(
love being over complicated
ugh I hate that they split everything. now I gotta open a whole separate app on my Mac just to listen to Dave Ramsey...WTF
Downvoted for poor choice of music in the end
Asphaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalt =))

Like windows unity. Copy cat you mac
mac os is worthless at this point, even ios can do more then it
