Dubrovnik has the amazing, Mediterranean climate which guarantees a lot of sunny days throughout the year. The crystal clear waters and the beaches are also beautiful - especially contrasting with the view of spectacular walls of the old town.

Old Town Dubrovnik is a medieval town but Dubrovnik is quite bigger, but who wants to tour a modern city like all. I imagine in XVI century only live 2 or 3 thousand people in that city. In that time all the planet had 300 million people, it is today USA population.

The population was 5 to 6 thousand in the old town itself throughout history and it was not a small town at that time.
I would recommend the introductory commentator to find a better job if Dubrovnik is expensive for him because there are many cheap places in this city with prices that are much lower than other popular places on the Mediterranean
