    I am not a snake lover, they scare the life out of me but, I have to admit, the Red Spitting Cobra is the most beautiful snake I have ever seen. I am 69 years old, and this is the first image I have ever seen of one. I watch Snakes in the City along with other documentaries about all wildlife including snakes but as I said, have never seen one before. Even I have to admit it is beautiful.

    Love how gentle they was with the snake when using the tongs and hook, allowing it to find its own way to safety with just a little coaxing, the cobra seemed so relaxed only spitting the once before retreating to safety, amazing job

      Thank you very much!!! We wanted to use the general behavior of many snakes - just going to shelter when they feel unsafe. If the bag is next to the wall they naturally go inside.

    So, I have to agree with the comments about the beauty of this cobra. I have never seen a snake caught in a video so easily, so peacefully, or so quickly. No fanfare, noise, or trauma. Absolutely fantastic. The poor thing found a comfortable spot and people freaked out, except for you and the crew. Great job. Great rescue. Great channel. The temperament of the snake was a surprise too. I do have to say, that given what these critters eat, I think I would rather have the snake around my home than the nuisances that these snake find delicious. I mean it is not like the snake is going to eat my food and ultimately poop in it, correct? It won't bring in disease that can spread to me, correct? Might be worth it. Don't know though. Great channel!!!

    • @LivingZoology

      This snake was absolutely amazing. Thank you very much!!! Snake behaves according to how you behave when you are trying to rescue it. We were happy to save this snake, people would try to kill it if we did not come. Check our video from India, where we worked with a great professional Ajay Giri: ruclips.net/video/QeFVZ4t6VhU/видео.html
      You are right, snakes will not spread dangerous diseases to humans, will not destroy your storage of food, we would also prefer to have snakes around rather than rats.

      @@LivingZoology That's where you got the bottle trick from!! I get the feeling that the only reason to use the hooks and the thongs is to completely (greatly reduce) eliminate the chance of being bitten. I mean the snake did not strike once in the video. Did it even strike when you were in its presence?? This was a great video!! You have confirmed a great many beliefs I have held about these snakes. Thank you for the link. I am no longer interested in the snake catcher programs and videos other than yours. You seem to be showing the TRUE nature of these snakes. The other videos appear mean and disrespectful to the snakes. Great channel. I am a fan!!

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  3 года назад +1

      @@jazzbariman Yes, we learned this method in India and it works in many cases :) It is true that most people who make videos about snakes are dramatizing the topic and then people think that these reptiles are choosing striking as the first way of defense. It is not true, all our encounters with snakes are peaceful, some species strike quite a lot, but in general, fleeing is the first behavior. Many thanks for visiting our channel!

      @@jazzbariman I agree, their channel is one of very few about venomous snakes that I can handle watching. I really don’t like the ones where they have them in captivity. They seem to get some kind of sick enjoyment from the feedings and I guess from their ego from the risk. No thanks. When I watch the snake in motion I think the snake is not moving at all. It is just swimming through energy. Of course this one can spit too.
    I wonder if iron has anything to do with this. The soil being red and all, not sure.
    It aiming for the eyes is scary. Sometimes when I look into eyes of other things I believe I'm looking directly into a black hole as well. Poor little snake, it's actually scared. It has a black tears in its eyes.

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  3 года назад +1

      Watching snake move is amazing, the work of their muscles is so smooth! Yes, the soil is red because of iron. Spitting cobras aim for the eyes so they can escape the predator. They are intelligent and very precise with spitting.

    I live in Nairobi. Grew up in the red soils of Tsavo, combined with Black volcanic rocks. Used to see lots of colorful reptiles. Snakes, lizards and bugs. But now I moved into the big city to make a living. It's just a faint memory now.

    Deadly venomous Red spitting cobra is both a destroyer of cells and a goodwill ambassador by donating venom. A charming fellow I'd say.

    Fish can be stocked into creek and turn native by eating the native crawfish,darters,etc and even tone of water changes fish meat and crawfish changing meat pink.
    The Red Spitting Cobra drinking that Blood Red Soil puddle,through generations causes that beautiful pigment.
    I wonder if in one generation of being out of that environment would amend pigment?
    Like Black Mamba in captivity change to a Grey tone..
    Amazing this earth..

      Red spitting cobras have different colors according to soil color in that area. Not everywhere they are this red. They get lighter orange in some for example.

      The color is an adaptation to the habitat. Red spitting cobras in some areas with a soil of different color have different coloration.
