Catriona Gray was the "Girl on Fire," Hunger Games, in her winning dress & a Siren of Water in her final walk gown! Her designer definitely could have designed for the capital!😍
You miss the significance of the two gowns. 1. The Lava Gown paid tribute to her mother's home province (not the Hunger Games😉), where the most iconic volcano can be found. The crystals literally painted the printed image of the volcano's lava. 2. The Blue gown on the other hand pays tribute to another icon, the most majestic animal and the Wildlife King of the country, The Philippine Eagle as it “look down until the point of reflecting itself on the shiny waters.” ,according to the designer. Philippine waters, are also one of the best asset of the country. If you think about it, Red and Blue are the main colors of the Philippines flag. I'm happy with both gowns.
Pia's final walk gown is best for me. It really shows that she is already celebrating her successful reign and not competing with new queens. Perfect dress!
As a South African I can confirm that you’re right Dani, green and gold is our national sporting colours and that’s why Demi chose those colours. I wasn’t such a huge fan of this farewell look though, I thought it was a bit underwhelming and the hair didn’t fit the look too. Nothing beats our queen Zozi’s gown though. Such a proud moment to see her in her traditional Xhosa dress and bringing a taste of South African culture to the universe. I absolutely loved Pia and Iris’ farewell gowns too ❤️❤️
Well !explained. I was not such a fan of Demi's dress, although I live our green and gold. As an Eastern Caper, I LOVED Zozi's outfit. Very appropriate for an isi-Xhosa QUEEN.
Don't be silly. Demi's look here is smashing. She wore her unusual color gown combination with mojo and her hair accentuated her pretty face. She's one of my all time fave MU.
The IMG Queens really stepped up their final walk gown game, I gotta say. They are by far my favourites. Every single one. Queens everywhere 🇵🇭 🇫🇷 🇿🇦 🇵🇭 🇿🇦 🇲🇽
Pia, Iris, Catriona and Andrea's gown are like the four princesses gown of Miss Universe. 💙❤️ Demi's gown one thing I noticed is that it really represents her country. Zozi's gown I think is the only unique farewell gown I've seen in MU history.
Pia gown is just not only gorgeous, but the color gown she chose fits her perfectly! It is also much different than the other girls. When she won, the back of her gown was so different and appealing l was just memorized. The way she moved, her personality fits altogether.
Demi posted before on IG about her final walk dress: "South Africa, I couldn't have been more proud to have worn our flag on my heart throughout my Miss Universe journey. Picking out my final walk dress was a breeze because I knew there is no other colors that I would choose than the South African GREEN and GOLD to end this amazing chapter of my life. 🇿🇦" So her final dress was a representation of South African colors 💚💛
Zozi had a phenomenal gown amd so unique....the Xhosa beads on her gown assured us that this is one truly South African lady....oh and yes Demi wore green and gold which are symbolic colours, even in our government documents and our national flag.... Truly South African beauties.....
Out of the gowns discussed in this video, my favorite is Pia's. I loved the color and how grand it looked. My only concern with it was that she tripped twice during her walk, perhaps there was an issue with the bottom part of the gown. In my opinion though, the most iconic final walk look was Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen's when she gave up her crown in 1995. Not only did she bring her culture into the look, it was spectacular and never been done before.
My favorite was Iris's. It was as if the gown was really created for her (although it did come from the runway). Pia's was spectacular, although she struggled to walk in it and it didn't help that the camera caught her losing balance at one point. I actually love Demi's as well. Not a fan of Olivia Culpo's. It's like a gown for the mother of the bride that had a slit.
They all brought a different interpretation of majesty to the stage. Going back a bit further, I think Riyo Mori was the first to make a more pronounced statement through her final walk outfit, which was beautiful in so many ways.
I don't know why but IMG Era Queens really stepped up their final walk gowns! From Pia to Andrea, the way they presented themselves in those gowns made the Final Walk more meaningful!
I love Pia and Cat's farewell Gowns but I really have to give it to Iris Mittenaere as the best, when she came out it felt as if she was competing in the evening gown round, she looked absolutely perfect in that red M5 gown! She blew me away!
They have different gowns of course.The farewell gown for me hits different was Pia where u can feel like a princess kind of farewell thing that was so stunning on her. And Also Kudos to Andrea Mezas gown was something was kind of a debut gown super stunning as well.
Zozi's final walk gown and the Gown she competed in for the finals were designed and created by Beji-la Maison And Natasha's national costume was created by Gert Coetzee
Well Pia is iconic. Whenever i think of her the 1st word comes to my mind is Iconic,, i love her final walk gown,, same as you Dani, i too started noticing the final walks & gowns after Pia wore that Michael Cinco gown. I also love Iris's red gown she could wore it in the finals & still could win. Personally I'm not a fan of Cat's final walk gown, i felt like the bottom part of the gown is so stiff & seemed so heavy. Andrea looked like a princess. I loved Pualina's gown too, it was classy & very sophisticated. The two South Africans brought something which is unique to their culture & it was special to see. Im just so excited to see what Harnaaz brings to the list in the next edition. But my favourite looks are 1. Pia 👑 2. Iris 3. Paulina

Yes, Dani, you're right! As a South African, Demi's dress does have some cultural significance. The green and gold is the same colours used by our national rugby team, the Spingboks, who have won multiple world cups. It has come to symbolize unity in our nation. I would have liked to see a different hairstyle with this look though.

I see a great amount of fellow South Africans have already commented on the Green and Yellow colors on Demi's dress. Another exciting find was that the beads on Zozi's final walk dress was also found on the Natasha's final dress. Both their dresses was from the same designer, and I guess what was tried to do is the continuation if Zozi had to hand over the crown to Natasha as a successor. The designer of these dresses, was also the designer Zozi's Finals Night of Miss Universe in 2019.
2:53 -- Yes, there was a time when Venezuelan candidates in MU donned white gowns usually for finals-- 1990, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002.
I love all of them. These are some of my favorite gown choices because I feel like farewells you can really show your personality since the crown was already yours!
Michael Cinco’s gown for the three Miss Universe winner is spectacular!..not a usual pageant gown but I love it!..It’s true that Catriona’s farewell gown was more beautiful seeing it in person because of it’s intricate design. Love Leila’s gown too..
I think Pia launched the final walk to be put on the map in Ms.U and no longer an afterthought. Since then final walks were something we look for since.
I feel like Iris, pia Nd Andrea they were wearing a same gown BUT in different colours... Andrea's gown was beautiful followed by zozi Nd miss Colombia.. the black one
My fav gown ever in Miss U was Dominican Republic’s white gown with crystal sleeves when DR won a decade or more ago… Loved it. I think her last name was Vega. Wasn’t a fan, but loved the gown.
I loved the dress of Olivia when she is been crowned but I really don’t like the one she had on her farewell. Though my favorite farewell gown is the one of Pia, Iris, Zozi, Andrea and Catriona

Iris and Pia were definitely the best. Catriona's gown was extremelly heavy and she looked beautiful but walked uncomfortable. Andrea just tried to copy Iris and Pia.

Very deserved as Pia didn't get a proper walk as the new miss universe and as Andrea had the shortest reign due to Covid. They both got snubbed.
