Great video as usual, Ma'am! As a former title-holder myself, I would add that "having reading habit really helps a lot in answering on-stage questions". It helps expanding your knowledge, building your smart vocabulary, and acing your style of delivering answer.
You are 100% right. I was mainly thinking of tactical component of the answer when making this video so I completely forgot this point 😅😂 Doing lots of reading setting your foundational background is super important. You really can’t “hack” or fake having a genuine understanding of current events.
I joined my work’s swimsuit pageant. I need to practice and prepare so much from the catwalk to the question and answer portion. Bless me luck! A lot of people are rooting for me to win. It’s going to be my very first pageant as well so I had to learn everything from scratch. Hope I really win 🥺
hello cystal..thank you for this.. i am 11 years old girl..i wanna be a beauty queen..i watched your videos everyday and all your videos about pageantry and you..are so relatable to me as a girl..your so smart..keep on doing it..eveyone will inspire as their own beuty queen..
OMG same girl! This is my situation right now, I was forced to join cuz they think of me as an intelligent woman but I'm not really that great when it comes to public speaking or even being on stage, my mind goes in a messy state then blank state. In addition, this will be my first ever pageant and I'm in deep pressure since my classmates kept on telling that I will win which I don't have confidence with plus the former winner was my classmate and they expect me to continue on holding that title. So here I am gaining every tips I could find in the internet to boost my self confidence and to lower my self doubt. I just wanna cry but then again a lot of people expects and supports me so I'll just do the best that I could and leave no regrets behind. I just wish that I could answer the question given to me straightforward without trembling on stage.
The part about talking to your emcee beforehand was suchhh an amazing tip!! I recently had an interview in college that was taken by my seniors and remembering the fact that I am friends with most of them kept me comfortable and I did not freeze but I hadn't thought about it that way. Thank you so much for your insights!!❤
Omg thank you so much! I'm currently preparing for my first pageant ( I can't say "NO" because my classmates picked me to be our representative) THIS VIDEO WILL HELP ME A LOT FOR MY PREPARATION THIS COMING APRIL 22😭
@@CrystalClues I've watched every single episode you've put out! I haven't commented lately because I just finished all my finals on Monday! (incredibly glad it's done) Happy Holidays!!!
In the Philippines, letting the host hold the mic for you can be disrespectful. There was a Filipina candidate who eventually became a meme online after she wasn't able to hold the mic from the host.
Fascinating! Thank you for sharing your story. Cultural context is everything and I hope more people read your comment because my perspective really stems more from the Miss America organization and the way we do things, which is just one system out of many out there.
Hey !... Can you put up a video on " beauty with a purpose project" explaining what it actually is ?? For example - what it comprises of, how to start it, what organisation to deal with, how to propagate it, etc etc...🙏🙏
Thank you so much Crystal ♥️♥️3:40 Manushi Chillar who’s Miss World 2017 took the mic from emcee and it seemed like emcee was embarrassed..You are correct ♥️♥️
You’re so right Marc- I see you handsome, ambitious young men are here at my channel too! Please forgive me if my language in my videos seems targeted at just women. When I started my channel, I knew I wanted to have a very specific, targeted audience to help hone my message and it’s hard to get out of the habit of just talking to “one woman.”
I'm just scared that I'm gonna be left dumbfounded and I won't know what to say to or how to answer that question and put the words together that fast😪😪 Somebody kill me cuz Ik I'm gonna fail the onstage question part just because of the adrenaline and anxiety.
I applaud you for mentally preparing yourself to go through this process. A lot of people freeze up and don’t even anticipate that they will. Just yourself, take a deep breath, and push through it. Over time, you’ll become much more comfortable!
@@CrystalClues thank you so much. I have been binge watching your videos to help me prepare fully for this pageant. My pageant is in 3 months and I'm so much more confident in the Q&A part. The mic tip isn't across the board. I've seen videos where the emcee actually hands the mic to the contestant. This is something I'd ask about during rehearsal.

Do not take the Mike from emcee if that person is holding it for you Answer the question Keep it short End it at the right point Do not start elaborating as u get more confident that could put in a risk zone Do not think of anyone or anything else at that moment
I tend to ramble, so this is difficult for me, haha! I also will halt mid-sentence while I try to articulate what I want to say without rambling. Do you have any tips?
Hi Marcia - good question. Trust me, you’re not the only one! Honestly the best way to practice getting your answers to become succinct and concise is to time yourself. Have a friend or family member drill you questions and set your alarm for 30 seconds. Once you’re able to get down to 30 seconds, bring it down to 25 seconds. Once you’ve managed 25 seconds, you’ll get a feel for how long that is. Then work on getting it to under 20 seconds. The alarm needs to bring audibly so you can hear it. The person drilling Q’s with you shouldn’t have to interrupt you :)

Memorizing answers can make you come across as rehearsed and insincere to the judges. Plus there's no guarantee that you'll get asked the exact questions you practiced and there's no way to prep an answer for every question in the world. Instead, familiarize yourself with talking points that you want to share with the judges.

Hello Crystal san, how much the choice of language impact the judges and the performance overall , in a zonal level pageant. I am an Indian and we have Hindi as our national language. But we are all fluent English speakers too. I am wondering if using language other than English can have an impact in the overall scores.
How to keep the question short for example
hey dear , here i have a doubt . miss universe 2000 lara dutta from india , during final QandA round took the mic from the mc , and it was considered as an iconic moment and she won the crown . what can you say about this ??
I’m going to be in a teen pageant and i was wondering. should i not memorize things at all. or should i just know about it. since they might not ask questions exactly from the judges bio.
Memorizing answers can make you come across as rehearsed and insincere to the judges. Plus there's no guarantee that you'll get asked the exact questions you practiced and there's no way to prep an answer for every question in the world. Instead, familiarize yourself with talking points that you want to share with the judges.
Cool.
Thank u
