That's why I hate it when people think that kpop is its own unique genre because it isn't when it's based off American pop music. Some songs were even originally written in English before being sold to Korean companies.
Yeah because it wasn't very "poppy". They tried mixing various genres together like emo hip hop with trap or electro-pop. Also BTS listen to a lot of Western artists and probably get inspired by thier songs. But I wouldn't say their latest albums were very "western", their old songs were more western in my opinion

The people I was specifically referring to in this comment were the ones who loved BST, an EDM song, and hated DNA, also an EDM song, by claiming the latter sounded "western" yet not the former. In contrast, BTS's older albums were arguably more westernized because they were heavily hip hop, while whatever "eastern" style you're referring to is closer to songs like IDOL with traditional Korean instruments or classic Asian instruments like the Yangqin and Guzheng.

That's not entirely true though, kpop is it's own thing with numerous influences including american pop, british pop, Japanese pop, hip hop, r&b, all types of things. It's its own thing though you can just say it's "entirely based" on western music.

Anyone (be it a kid or an adult) will find their music entertaining, catchy and relatable. I guess that's why many of ARMY's listen to BTS only. They just find everything they need in BTS' music.

I STAN INTELLECTUALS!!!! I read a lot about people who left the fandom (mainly bcs of tedious new flow of ARMYS) and also bcs they claim BTS has changed. I personally love their development as it seems like a timeline of our life tbh-it’s always relevant and relatable. I love your point when you said BTS offers different range of songs, and different members offers different styles and genres. You can listen to yoongi for bad ass, raw and passionate rap. A more upbeat and catchy rap from J-hope. Melancholic but soothing songs from RM. Soulful and jazzy songs from Taehyung, pop music from Jimin and Jin, and ballad from Jungkook and the vocal line in general. Antis only say this about BTS because they try their best to bring down BTS any chance they get. I even seen some kpop stans calling them white. Telling them their kissing white people's asses now. It's funny how they call BTS westernize but ever since their success in the US. Big 3 companies (especially yg and sm) have been trying to promote and even try to copy bighit to get their groups popular in the US. Even YG himself has mentioned that. He's literally been following BTS next move since their success. Even shaded them when he was promoting Blackpink multiple times. SM tried to do the same for NCT and even EXO now. Even SM YG and even JYP are releasing english versions of their groups songs. But here's the thing though. BTS didn't have a plan really when they became big in the US. Even when no more dream came out they weren't even thinking of doing any promo in the US yet that song ended up on the charts because of their TALENT. When Blood sweat and tears dropped no one new it would be as big as it was in korea and in the us. Then DNA dropped and it REALLY blew up. BTS growth and success was ORGANIC. They blew up based on their talent. (Also they've never released a full english song because they said they didn't need to to make in the US. They were even pressured by people in America to write a full English album and bts said no. They stuck to who they were and it payed off. That's something big 3 companies need to understand. You can't copy BTS. You could try but you won't succeed because BTS is their own group.
ps: i have nothing against blackpink exo or nct. just their shit companies.
ps ps: also waste it on me doesn't count as a bts english song because its not their song it's steve akois song so yes bts has never made a full english song. even the mic drop remix with designer wasn't fully english.

I ain't mad at Korean artists singing western style music. I also appreciate when groups like BTS throw a shot out to their Korean culture in their videos and music. I STAN INTELLECTUALS!!!! I read a lot about people who left the fandom (mainly bcs of tedious new flow of ARMYS) and also bcs they claim BTS has changed. I personally love their development as it seems like a timeline of our life tbh-it’s always relevant and relatable. I love your point when you said BTS offers different range of songs, and different members offers different styles and genres. You can listen to yoongi for bad ass, raw and passionate rap. A more upbeat and catchy rap from J-hope. Melancholic but soothing songs from RM. Soulful and jazzy songs from Taehyung, pop music from Jimin and Jin, and ballad from Jungkook and the vocal line in general. My friend told me I listened to BTS all the time, but it’s because their songs fit my mood like all the time bcs of the wide variety they offered. That’s what I love the most about BTS 💜💜💜

I hate it when Americans think that America is superior in everything, then get butt-hurt when people like BTS come and completely top and smash their favorite American artist. Then they start to bash BTS and come up with excuses not listen to them and don't take the time to actually sit down and know them. That just proves how ignorant a lot of Americans are.
I also hate the fact (some of my friends did this) that some "Army" start to not like BTS and fall away just because they hate the fact that BTS "changed" too much. But I'm just like. "People change honey. idols and Celebrities change. Don't expect them to stay the same. they are people too. and it's not even a bad change so I don't know what you're getting so butt-hurt about." they also say, "their new music isn't good anymore." Artist change their music style too. if it sounded the same from the beginning (especially from BTS), no one will listen too them, then they start to get boring, so artist need to experience a bit with their music, they don't revolve their music around you to try to please you because they know people have different taste in music. And the one you mentioned in the video, "they're too westernized now. They're too mainstream. They're just a trend." First of all. they need to watch this video. Second of all, that shouldn't be a reason why you don't like them anymore. But the thing that really annoys me is when BTS does something really COOL and completely unexpected, like get a BB award, AMA, MMA, AAA, GRAMMY award, etc, then those same "Armys" are like. "OMG, I love BTS!" "They're so cool!" "I'm Army!" That just shows that you only love them for their successes in the moment, only like them to get clout, and you're being fake. At this point, I tell them to just admit that you only like them for clout, and they're looks instead of the things that actually really matter about them.
