I was never very happy with the way these sounded until I replaced the ear pads with soft valour. Wow, this change of ear pads opens these things up in a big way. The upper mids are now crystal clear and the over powering bass has evened out. If I see another pair online for a good price, I will be snapping them up.

Thanks for the review. Unfortunately, neither of the alternatives can fold flat like these ones can - the fact that the K275's fold flat is a big advantage. (for me)

I never heard this model but i can tell you the bass on akg pro models like k701 i pretty awesome, and yes you can hear low level detail its a different experience than monitors but its more accurate since there is no room involved, it takes a while to get it right but after that you never want to go back on speakers again .

Well i calculated the Power input in 39.34mW with 109 db(1Vrms @1kHz ) if I use Aiyima DAC A5 Pro or any other desktop DAC will it damage the drivers ?? I am really curious

Mine are VERY heavy. 3rd pair of entry into audio, and I really think the bass is very substantiated and definitely not a "flat" sound, although that's okay for closed back- Samson SR850s sound better to me, but they're open back and I guess I prefer a flatter sound. Still an awesome headphone, the detachable cable is great, and they sound pretty good and work amazing for, in my scenario, gaming/listening in semi-loud environments. My small ears are a plus too ;)

So..... What are the best headphones around 90$?

  • @peplegal8253

Looking for an affordable (under $200) wired closed back headphone for street walking and commute. Any suggestion ? (classical music and jazz mostly...not so narrow soundstage).
K371 looks cheap, ATHM50x seems too Bassy (I was told), K275 seems heavy (according to this video)....what else ?

k240 mk 2s are great semino0en back and 55 ohms it is badically the k240. but a lil better, dt990 pro and dt770 pro. are better tho i think but the best if you want open back are the gt900x pro they are new and. i suppose they are better check reviews if they arent good then go for dt990s or dt770 if you like wide sound stage but if you want best sound quality but bot amzing soundstage the k240 mk 2s are great as well ypu could check the sennheiser hd58x as well im not sure of all of them as i do not own the beyerdynamics and the sennheisers but reviews say that the beyerdynamics and sennheisers are the best then you have akg and samson as 2nd base line

      @@P34K74X : Thanks for your attention ! 👍
I`ve already solved this case : HD560S for Music (home)...AKG K371 for commute...and a half-decent chinese headphone with a V-shaped frequency response and wide sound-stage, good for Movies.
Pretty much all my audio needs are fulfilled.

Hey, what are you recommendations for headphones? I've got biggish ears? It pains me to wear my headphones for long. But I also care deeply about frequency response.

They'll do the job just fine, but personally I'd go for something cheaper and lighter unless you intend to mix with them too.

Great review thanks. From a mixing standpoint would it be the AKGs you reviewed here, or the Audio Tehnica AT M50X or the Sony MDR 7506. They are all in the same price range for me, hence asking. On another note, are the K72s good for mixing. They’re on sale right now on Amazon India. Thanks again.

Are the cups of K275 as big as the cups of K52?

    • @AlteraSound
      @AlteraSound  4 года назад

The overall earcup size is the same, but the padding on the K275s is slightly thicker, so the inner earcup is smaller.

  • @alex_yates

I have a pair of AKG K275's. In theory i love them, but in practise the build quality has rendered them practically unusable for me.
I dont' find the weight an issue at all. I sit at my laptop for hours with them on. Nor do they shift about on my head. I don't have a big head or big ears... They were a bit tight at first, almost pressuring the side of my head, but loosened off over time to give me a really nice fit.
The build quality issue: The four (two on either side) stems that connect the ear cups have come loose over time, and twist. this means that the earcups rotate to a different angle. It's really hard to get them to line up again. Basically they're unwearable. Shame.

@@davyjones611 I got them years ago for $80 AUD (about 38 UK pounds) I see retail in Australia charging up to $500 AUD for them, they ok headphones, but I wouldn't pay $500 for them.
Remember Samsung owns AKG and they are made in China.
That's why I buy Austrian Audio headphones these days, they are better quality by Ex-AKG engineers.
