- Are you in a rush to retire? And have you asked yourself why you are ?
Is the heat of FIRE getting too much?
What is the cost of years of hard work if not the years themselves.
Does that mean that your 'retirement corpus' is just as much a today-problem as are the current expenses of living? Here's what our first guest ever on the show, Shubham, asked Pattu about saving "more" than necessary, or usual, followed by what the man himself thinks of the situation. Glisten!
P.S.: Take a leaf out of Shubham's book and send us your thoughts, anecdotes, questions, etc. via any of our social media channels. That's where we met Shubham too!

Like Pattu, as a PhD faculty, I also started earning a decent salary at the age of 32. I started with INR 7.5 lakh in July 2018. Today, I am at 2.10 Cr in July 2024. It excludes real estate and my spouse investments. What worked:
1. 75 percent equity portfolio
2. High savings rate
3. Staying in a university campus away from city keep expenses low
4. Marrying a spouse who luckily gets a permanent work from home, is genetically frugal, and contribute equally to household expenses.
It is not that, I compromised on quality of life. I did three self funded international travel since 2018, many domestic travel, and own a 25 lakh plus SUV. It is just about a mindset. With a comfortable savings, now we don't mind splurge.
Man, You are going to rock the podcasts area. Your voice is a bigger strength 👌 The way you are driving the whole series shows your respect and love towards Pattu Sir. This series is a goldmine for the youth who are stepping into their financial journey. Thanks for this.
Thank you so much! This is a huge shoutout for the team.
Shubham is not married, Let him get Married and then have children, also after a point Parent's responsibilities also comes on his shoulders.
Thats why starting early helps. Shubham is ticking all the right check boxes!
This kind of issues are created due to too much focus on money now a days and in future if he retires early, he would not be able to enjoy life as well. These behavior's of over saving cannot be forgotten in a day, it becomes a way of life. So, live life and think why you want to retire early. As todays' expenses are not same as tomorrows. I am earning for last 15 years and see how lifestyle inflations will creep in and that is also for good, otherwise what is the use of such money in retirement corpus when you have lost the youth in misery thinking about future, that never returns.....
The questions we should ask ourselves for FIRE are
a. Are we running away from something or towards it.
b. How much is enough to live comfortably ( not luxuriously)
c. If money wasnt a factor, what would i do with my time sustainably over a longer tenure.
this 💯
Best episode ever from your channel , it boosted my mind to think better in terms of Money mindset.
Well said the corporate stress is what made me to think and work towards financial freedom
Yeah, that's true for a lot of us! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Humble pattu sir as always , to make us humbled.
Some young folks should chill down a little. Retiring at 30 is fine but it should not be by making your present a hell. Have some balance. No one knows what's gonna happen in the future or we aren't so sure whether we're gonna make it to 30. So always keep a balance and invest enough (in his case 70-30 in equity/debt). Rest enjoy the life you are having now.
P. s- I'm not saying one should not invest but what I'm saying is one needs to have a balance else they're gonna measure everything in life with money (even necessary things) which not gonna end well
Thanks for sharing your opinion with us! One of the things on this podcast is about trying to find that balance between enjoying and investing. Keep listening and tell us what you think!
It is so inspiring to listen to Pattu sir..kudos for putting this together

Love you pattu sir
We love him too!
Don't agree with Shivam. He's beating his present, and losing his main currency time to chase his dream in future. Chase dreams niw
